Its a sad truth that a lot of us aren't surprised anymore. Even though a majority still acts surprised when events like this happen. One must realize that the US isnt alone in events like these. Norway, Australia, to name a few over the years. And sadly, another thing that will happen with this event, it will be turned into politics when it shouldnt be.
Who are the guns lovers going to blame for the cause? The five year olds? A white male named Ryan. Not a black man,not illegals, not liberal released prisoners. A nice young boy.
The liberal anti white/anti gun agenda is tiresome...especially in the wake of tragic events. Did you share your super sweet/sensitive thoughts last week about drinking and driving after the nfl dui/death...no whites or guns were involved, maybe I misread the coverage. Did anyone here make any disparaging remarks or stereotypes about the race of those involved?
BTW, the gov't can't confiscate all weapons in prisons, just how will they accomplish the task against the general law abiding population?
You're a total retard. Some guy kills someone in a DUI in Texas and, somehow, because that wasn't preventable, you can't make an argument against guns? Where did you go to elementary school? They should revoke your diploma. You're probably preparing for the end of the world next week, right?
i already had someone on my facebook page blaming liberals for this shooting. another person said that the politicians use occurrences like this to distract from the "real" problems this country faces. well, if this is not a "real" problem, i don't know what is.
Echo the 2nd comment. I'm tired of hearing the gun dorks tell us that guns make us safer. Without guns, 20 children in Connecticutt would still be alive right now. FACT.
I'm just waiting for some goober to call KKKSJO to say "If those kindergarteners had all been packing heat this thing would have had a different outcome..."
It's time for our Gov't to take control and get special interest out of politics....NRA, Unions, Oil companies have too much influence at the expense of the avg American.
I'm about as liberal as a girl can be on most things. I own guns, having seen too much as a reporter, and having been held at gunpoint by a would-be robber. Here's the big problem, and I'll be talking about it today on Karel's syndicated show as I fill for him. If you increase gun control laws, it only affects law-abiding gun owners, not the wackos or the criminals. That's the truth, unfortunately.
Christine, simple solution: Anyone found in possession of any illegal gun is subject to a sentence of 20 years. That'll take care of it. No nonsense. You're making the argument of the NRA and it's old and tired. At some point, the cycle needs to be broken. Guns did not protect those children today.
have you ever even fired a gun? Or are you, like Rush, someone who has never been to a gun range? I was held at gunpoint with a sawed- off shotgun. I covered the five kids massacred in 1989 in Stockton. I also reported directly and often in the line of fire at hostage situations. I'll tell you what, when someone breaks into your house, don't shoot them and save your own life. I prefer, when my life is threatened with great bodily injury or death, to be prepared to fight for my life. Apparently 2.22 doens't think the media should be talking about this case, or at least not me. I disagree profoundly. All the weapons you want to restrict are already illegal..so much for gun laws..see laws on banana clips, automatic weapons etc. The average anti-gun person thinks they know the difference between automatic and semi-automatic weapons..Most,actually don't know. the bigger issues in this matter include Asperger's syndrome which the APA just decided to delist as a mental illness or defect and the prevalence of ultra-violent video games. BTW, it's not my show. It's Karel's show and we basically agree that when you legislate more gun controls, only the criminals and crazy people will have them.(see Karel's huffpost piece today) Karel will be joining me at the top of the first two hours, while his voice holds out. I welcome your calls at 855 495-2735..starting at 3 PST til 6 PST. I am not now, nor have I ever been in the NRA. I'm not much of a joiner and don't agree with their anti-gun control views specifically re:banana clips.
You are saying that because gun control laws are ignored by criminals, they are useless. THEN WHY DO WE HAVE ANY LAWS? It's against the law to murder others but criminals commit murders anyway. The answer is that we are a civilized society and we establish laws defining what is legal and what isn't.
Your argument that laws aren't the answer because they can't be enforced raises the question of why we have any laws.
We should make drugs illegal while we're at it....oh wait, they already are. At least drug trafficking is a victimless crime....oh wait, prisons are overflowing with drug related violent criminals.
I tried to support your well intentioned beliefs but it backfired.
I guess I have to accept that I live in an imperfect world despite what Obama would like me to believe.
I am always happy to find out when Christine is on so I can tune in. I understand her perspective about self-defense and how gun ownership doesn't cause crimes, but there are too many damn guns out there. The availability of enhancements to guns that allow them to shoot many bullets in a short time is unacceptable in a civil society. The mental health of this country is of concern with high anxiety and anger that did not exist decades ago. The mental health system stinks for those who don't have great health insurance. I agree with Christine about the ultra-violent video games and I would add movies to that. When someone is slipping mentally, e.g. schizophrenia, they tend to gravitate toward popular cultural subjects. They used to imagine they were in the FBI and then that they knew Mick Jagger. Now they are terrorists of sorts wearing black. I notice most of these mass killers are in their early 20's when schizophrenia shows itself and most are white males. It's a terrible problem we have and the answer is complex. However, I stand by the fact that we have too many guns and I think we need a national conversation about it and we need to not be bullied by the NRA especially the gun freaks which are only a percentage of the group.
How typical - let's ban all guns and confiscate all weapons! Think about it a little harder. A weapon is anything you use to inflict bodily harm on another - heavy glass flower vases and thick steel pry bars have been used as "weapons". Should we confiscate everything that could be defined as a "weapon"? How about the raw materials that go into making Molotov cocktails?
Instead of banning things, why don't we try and find out why people do these things? What's going wrong in the minds of 20-something white males that is causing them to act this way? Adam Lanza, the Aurora shooter, the kid in Tucson, the boys at Columbine HS. What did they all have in common? They are young white males (15-25). What influences are causing their disconnect from reality. The VaTech shooter was Asian, right? But again, a young male. There's something very wrong in our culture and these young men are using guns to express a rot that is inside them. I want to find out what's causing that rot, and that's what I want to ban.
Good DBruce show today, has already taken more calls and had discussions with callers on this topic (except for a guy who brought up abortion, who he thankfully didn't respond to) than Ronn's whole show.
There is no good reason to allow a gun owner to purchase or own a device that allows them to shoot a large amount of bullets in a short amount of time. If there are certain circumstances where someone requires this type of gun feature, then they should have to go through hoops to acquire it and their identity should be computerized. Also, no more online gun sales unless there is a background check and the owner and gun is registered. When the gun amendment was passed, people had muscats which required you to pack them with gun powder and you couldn't do mass killings. That was never, ever the intent. Penalties for owning, selling, or transferring gun accessories that allow for mass killings should be harsh. No more letting the NRA stop the conversation regarding reasonable gun control.
This isn't about "banning-guns". How in the Hell do you now ban guns? They are every where.. it's like trying to prevent fires by banning matches and lighters. As long as people continue to over-simplify issues like this by screaming "ban guns" - we get no where. This is about crazy people.. sick people that continue to fall through the cracks. It happened with the shooter at the movie theater in Colorado.. it happened with the VCU shooter. We have a society and a system that excuses these people until they committ some horrible crime. We have a society where people are afraid to step forward and do something before a crime happens. Doctors and therapists that push the mentally ill around and ignore the consequences. Only a simple minded person thinks "banning guns" is the answer (no I do not own guns). Some one tell me how you get all the guns off the streets at this point?? This is more about a totally inept system that does nothing to protect people from the insane and dangerous and a society that is so simple minded, they think "banning guns" is the answer.
Maybe I missed it, but I haven't read anything about "banning guns" (you seem to like to put that in quotes). There is some interest in some reasonable gun control especially when it comes to semi-automatics and guns that can result in mass killings. What are you talking about when you say that doctors and therapists push the mentally ill around? Our mental health system does not adequately address the mentally ill and we no longer have hospitals that house them. That went out of fashion because of costs and other reasons, but there was never anything to replace them with. Lack of mental health care along with the stigma about mental illness makes the situation worse. Don't be blaming doctors and therapists for what they cannot control
oh, so I'm a prick because someone's first reaction to this horrific news is, I'm not surprised! If being a "news junkie" means that when unspeakable events like this happen you can't react like a caring human being but instead are just "numb" and are not surprised, then thankfully I will never be a news junkie. Oh, and sorry for "picking" on Rich - must have made it a really tough day for him!
Come on man. Rich and many people like myself are news junkies. Where have you been when all the recent shootings have happened? How about in Norway where the blond guy gunned down dozens upon dozens of innocent children? Stop picking on Rich you prick. Many of us are numb and sadly like Rich many of us are not surprised anymore.
Don't be an idiot. There is however the issue of whether senior citizens should be driving at all. That is a fair topic of discussion. Go back and try to come up with better attempts at analogies. Loser.
That's why we have speed limits, seat belt and DUI laws, restrictions on the performance of automobiles and restrictions on who can get a license, you idiot.
How did any of those prevent a person from using their car as a weapon? Looking for someone to call an idiot? Look in the mirror. Banning firearms will only give potential killers more creative options. Socialist.
When will most Americans, or for that matter, when will our Congress and Senate have the cajones to stand up to fanatic gun-toting, special interest groups such as the NRA who DO NOT represent the mainstream of the American public. WHEN?
Not in my lifetime. We are a sick society, obsessed with guns and violence. All you have to do is turn on your TV or look at how many kids are buying these violent video games that trivialize killing, and make it seem as if it's all just part of our regular routine. What a sick, dysfunctional country we are!
No wonder people from other countries that I've spoken with over the years have told me that: "we think you're crazy!" Not all of us are, but unfortunately, we do have a lot of nut cases in the good old U S of A! But I guess if we all 'packed a little heat' we'd all be much safer, right!?
So did you think this twenty year old Asperger's sufferer who went over the deep end had illegal weapons? automatic weapons? At this point, law enforcement in Connecticut describes perfectly legal glock and sig sauer semis and a semi-auto bushmaster.223 rifle..If you want to ban semi-automatic weapons..then you'll be going door to door to collect most American handguns. really?
Christine, this isn't about Asperger's syndrome. It's about the frequent mass murder of innocent people in the US by lunatics who get their hands on dangerous guns far too easily.
Your lame argument that laws are useless because they can't be enforced is ridiculous. In that case, let's give up on the legal system altogether.
There is an aspect of bragging in all your posts about how much you know about guns, you've witnessed this and that, you're a liberal girl, blah, blah, blah. So what? Why do you insist upon making this issue about yourself? Perhaps your enormous opinion about yourself is the real explanation of your employment difficulties rather than your imagined victimization on the basis of age and gender.
I'm a lawyer who does some talk radio. Do you even know the indicia of Aspergers? I have clients, several of them with aspergers. They are all brilliant academicians, but they have one huge problem. Do you know what it is? btw re: Title VII litigation in the federal courts ...I'm the one who refused to be a victim. A victim is someone who is vulnerable and who sticks their tail between their legs and whimpers homeward. That's not what I did then,or now. Now, if you know a way to take away the majority of handguns in this country which are already legal and licensed, let me know how you propose to do that. I am assuming you know the differences between "automatic" weapons which are illegal, and semi-automatic which are not. Do I assume correctly? You are free to believe in a fantasy world where all the criminals and crazy people turn in their guns. I prefer to see things more realistically. To each, her own.
Yes Christine, you're absolutely right. This is an Aspergers problem not a gun problem. When is the rest of the world catch up with your brilliant theory.
If you are as committed as you claim to view things realistically, perhaps you night want to consider the possibility that your employment problems stemmed from disagreeable personality rather than age and gender based discrimination.
Christine, Yes, you are proud of not being a victim. Please remind us all of the final outcome of your case. No, not the minor victories you won along the way that were later reversed, what was the final outcome? What was the size of your recovery?
We need to change the law back to the time when semi automatics were not legal or really difficult to acquire legally. No need to go door to door, people could take their chances, turn them in or risk legal consequences. I'm not saying this is exactly how it needs to be done, but there should not be guns around that shoot lots of bullets in a short amount of time and that can easily be reloaded. The issue of mental illness needs to be better addressed. However, many of these shooters are in their early to mid twenties when their symptoms are becoming more severe and often "symptoms" are not apparent, instead it is the type of thinking that is occurring over which they have no control. The window of time when they are going downhill doesn't lend itself to quick mental health intervention so we still need to have fewer guns.
Piers Morgan, the brit who inexplicably took over when Larry King retired is foaming at the mouth about the "BUSH-mahhhhster .223 rifle that spews 100 bullets!!!""" Big problem, there is no 100 round clip for a bush...maaaahhhhhster. We don't even know which weapons were used specifically in the killings..or how many extra clips the gunman had. He was reportedly dressed in military style clothing..ie the kind with pockets and snaps for extra mags. I think Piers, who has no problem hacking people's private conversations for the rupert Murdoch's newspaper, should get a basic gun-range course in which guns..legal and otherwise fire how many bullets.. There used to be a standard, if you were going to report on or talk about things like this, you'd have some basic understanding....of what you were talking about. Has anyone heard any talk radio or televison commentators discuss the intricacies of autism , specifially of Aspergers??? let me know.
There has been discussion regarding Aspergers and autism in the media regarding this situation, however, we don't yet know what diagnosis this killer had, but we do know that he used guns to kill little children, thus the focus on guns. Also, there has been a brewing concern and feeling of helplessness regarding these semi-automatic guns for a long time now and people are speaking up.
I love you for your opinion. You are the only one who is right on on this. By the way I love your program. Why? Because you have common sense which is lacking in our society. Christine keep doing what you do best. Happy Holiday to you and your family.
Actually I heard Michael Savage talk about placing kids on medication for ”mental illnesses”. He is the only one who spoke about this issue in an intelligent way. Re: Piers Morgan, now you know what you sound like foaming at the mouth when you attack Michael Vick honey. I suggest you use your law degree (in betwen cleaning your guns and feeding your pit bulls) to go work for the NRA. You show more outrage towards the killing of fithy dogs than young children. Thank God you're hardly ever on air.
I was on the air yesterday, fill-in for Karel's syndicated show in several American cities. God has nothing to do with it. What is "fithy"
Piers Morgan, a man of dubious ethics, is neither my countryman nor my role model. His lecturing of americans about their awful guns is a ripe target. My lasting impression is of Michael Vick swaggering with a stiffie in his killing overalls as he electrocuted with battery cables and a swimming pool, a dog who wouldn't fight enough. He will always be a target for my disgust. He's the perfect "honey" for you. I hope you never inflict yourself on a poor dog. BTW, I also have big german shepherds and always have. for a great look at the current status of the vick Pits...see www.badrap.org............Oakland's finest
Just like gun owners who have a gut reaction to anything threatening their gun ownership or any control on guns, the people who dislike guns and dislike watching crime after crime involving guns have a gut reaction to the number of crimes involving guns. I say "hooray" for Piers for not buying into the blah, blah, blah, of gun protectors. It's time to have a conversation that has been stopped by the NRA and if it means it starts with an argument, so be it. One of the reasons that NRA and other big gun advocates have stopped the conversation is that they are so angry and crazed about any discussion regarding gun control or the possibility of guns being a causes of violence that those who want more gun control just give up. I think it is A-Ok for those, like me, who are sick of the violence for there to be some intensity on the part of the more gentle souls who are concerned about gun violence. I am not advocating banning of guns, just a serious conversation of where guns fit in as far as the violence and what can be done. Granted there are other issues with this complex problem, but guns, especially semi-autos are part of the problem. It's time for those who agree with me to get some backbone and stop being bullied by the gun nuts.
I've got the answer. Ban and destroy all guns from everyone. Then allow everyone to have and openly carry muzzle-loaders. You preserve the original intent of the Bill of Rights. The muzzle loader has a pretty hefty accessory kit...including the loading stick, fuse, powder bag... It would take so much time to actually shoot one of them, tempers and psychoses might calm down. Imagine High Noon with muzzle loaders.
new info out of New England media...shooter was mercilessly bullied as a child...was a braniac...not social...made fun of..quite common for Asperger's sufferers...not clear what meds he was on..no fb page or twitter account...loved violent video games..
Remarkable Christine Craft can diagnose mental disorders from newspaper stories!
Oh, he loved violent video games. We definitely want to make guns readily available to someone like this. Obviously the problem is Asperger's, not guns.
Adam Lanza's brother stated very clearly that his brother had Aspergers. Perhaps you could research Aspergers and discover what it means. It is not treated well with any meds, and it doesn't get better, typically. I've had a number of clients with Aspergers, their parents actually. The parents, knowing their child can't function in the workplace, seek disability benefits for their child. It is heartbreaking. There are degrees of functioning. It is always devastating for the family members, really. Curiously, it was just delisted a few weeks ago, I think unwisely. Have you ever known a family with an aspergers afflicted family member? These folks are typically extremely bright in science and other academic pursuits, but have little or no ability to cope in social situations. All the accounts from Newtown, at this point, describe Adam Lanza thusly. did you miss that? Did you assume I was making it up? why? The problem is likely severe Aspergers, hours of participatory violent shooting video games where you can choose what type of faux human target, and gain the illusion of social control. We'll likely know more soon.
Christine, you go on and on about Aspergers. Congratulations, you are an expert on Aspergers, just like you're a expert about guns, and so many other things. WHO CARES?
We know this mass murderer was mentally ill, just like the other crazy killers who got their hands on powerful guns and slaughtered far too many innocent people. Aspergers disease and mental illness aren't limited to this country and yet it's the US which exceeds all other countries of the world in the easy access to guns that leads the world in frequency of these horrific attacks.
The PROBLEM IS GUNS and the need to control them.
Your persistent message is that "I'm Christine Craft, I'm smarter than anyone else, please pay attention to me, this isn't a gun control problem, it's really an Asperger's problem, we don't need more effective gun control in this country."
I think you're off your rocker nor have I seen any experts who agree with you.
How many of you watched Obama's televised response to the mass killings in CT. yesterday? My reaction is this:
So, the current Murderer/Warmonger-in-Chief is upset over the mass killing in Connecticut. I'd like to go on record and point out the crocodile tears of Mass Murderer Obama.
Here is the estimate of how many innocent civilians were murdered by drone strikes ordered by Obama in Pakistan since the Nobel "Peace" Prize President took office: "According to the report, the U.S. Government believed that 1,300 militants and only [sic!!!] 30 civilians had been killed in drone strikes since mid-2008, with no civilians killed since August 2010."
According to my arithmetic, Obama has one more murder on his hands than the Connecticut school mass murderer—and those are just the ones from Obama's drone bombings in Pakistan. They are not even sure how many innocent civilians have been murdered by Obama in Afghanistan since he took office.
Oh, by the way, Obama is personally responsible for more people being killed than all previous Nobel Peace Prize winners combined. Peace, indeed.
when you give mortgage loans to people without credit, not one year, 2 yrs, not even 5 yrs but over 30 yrs!!! you are just building up a time bomb until the entire system collapse. when you let people without clear mind (peaceful mind also) to obtain 300 round rapid fire semi automatic assault weapon... listen, we are not at the point of collapse yet... it will come very soon...
This was a well-heeled family. Papa was no rollng stone, but a GE finance exec. He dumped the mother of Adam and married the new wife when Adam was 17,nearly an adult. Amazing how anyone can blame single mothers.Dad, apparently lived nearby in another well-heeled NYC "suburb", as most execs do with the current spouse and spawn, neatly removed from the responsibility of his aspergers afflicted son.
the rifle in this case, from what we know, was a semi-automatic rapid load weapon..which can fire as many as six rounds in a second..as long as your trigger finger can move that fast. The magazines were not 100 load or 300 load, but 30 round mags. The circular mags that hold a hundred rounds..usually jam...for obvious reasons. So when Piers Morgan blusters about a gun that can rapidly shoot 100 bullets, he is not talking about what happened here. The shooter could rapidly fire 30 rounds with his trigger finger squeezing each shot, then he'd have to remove empty mag, insert pre=loaded mag and then continue.
Christine, it doesn't matter if it's 30 or 100 round mags. What matters is that citizens shouldn't have military style weapons that can kills many people in a very short period of time. Piers may not be a gun expert, but he is right to be angry and horrified by the gun violence and with the defensiveness of the NRA. We need to reduce the fire power that non military gun owners have at their fingertips.
Most people with Aspergers are not violent. This killer had additional mental health problems. I can't judge the mother or the father for anything because we don't have the facts. The only actual fact that I have is that he killed all those people with guns that allowed him to kill many in a short time.
you are absolutely right. Most people with aspergers will never harm anyone. However, the fundamental indicia of aspergers includes high intelligence coupled with utter lack of social ability and control. An aspergers afflicted person who has a passion for violent video games may well see that unreal world as a place where he has control as the shooter. A leap to real life...with the same distorted sense..is certainly one possibility. Everyone who wants to blame the mother, or call the shooter a "loser" would be shocked if they were in the company of a person with severe aspergers, even for a day. It is an extremely difficult circumstance and condition.Of course, there are degrees of Aspergers on the autisum continuum.
I've heard talk hosts saying as fact that the shooter fired a "hundred bullets in a minute". They are unaware of what a 30 clip magazine is and the fact that one has to eject the emptied clip and reload a new one. Everyone who understandably wants to make guns go away..are you going to come up with a way to go to most American households and seize semi-automatic guns? Most guns in America are semi-automatic. My point is that there should be a basic understanding of what the terms actually mean, before proposing any gun control laws. I've heard folks call the weapons in this case "automatic" weapons..They weren't. BTW, thanks to such misinformation, masquerading as expertise, gun sales across the country are soaring since Friday.
Christine, you and your aspergers tangent and self-glorification of your gun knowledge.... Is this the way you covered the news back before you were fired? Because if it is, I can understand why you were canned. Forget about age and gender discrimination. If you can't report stories clearly and go off on wacky tangents that make yourself the focus of the news, you can't do the job and deserve to be fired.

DeleteInstead of banning things, why don't we try and find out why people do these things? What's going wrong in the minds of 20-something white males that is causing them to act this way? Adam Lanza, the Aurora shooter, the kid in Tucson, the boys at Columbine HS. What did they all have in common? They are young white males (15-25). What influences are causing their disconnect from reality. The VaTech shooter was Asian, right? But again, a young male. There's something very wrong in our culture and these young men are using guns to express a rot that is inside them. I want to find out what's causing that rot, and that's what I want to ban.
8:16 your argument is idiotic. You can't slaughter 26 children and teachers with a flower pot.
DeleteGood DBruce show today, has already taken more calls and had discussions with callers on this topic (except for a guy who brought up abortion, who he thankfully didn't respond to) than Ronn's whole show.
ReplyDeleteThere is no good reason to allow a gun owner to purchase or own a device that allows them to shoot a large amount of bullets in a short amount of time.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't about "banning-guns".
ReplyDeleteThe killers may be sick people who fall through the cracks BUT if they didn't have guns they could not become human killing machines.
DeleteKeeping guns out of their hands would save lives.
Maybe I missed it, but I haven't read anything about "banning guns" (you seem to like to put that in quotes). There is some interest in some reasonable gun control especially when it comes to semi-automatics and guns that can result in mass killings.
DeleteWhat are you talking about when you say that doctors and therapists push the mentally ill around? Our mental health system does not adequately address the mentally ill and we no longer have hospitals that house them. That went out of fashion because of costs and other reasons, but there was never anything to replace them with. Lack of mental health care along with the stigma about mental illness makes the situation worse. Don't be blaming doctors and therapists for what they cannot control
HOW MANY MORE LIVES HAVE TO BE LOST BEFORE SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING TO STOP IT.
ReplyDeleteI hope the people we elect to represent us do something...they have the power.
FORGET THE FISCAL CLIFF bulls??t, FIX EVERYTHING NOW PLEASE!!!
"FIX EVERYTHING NOW PLEASE!!!"
DeleteWhat a victim.
oh, so I'm a prick because someone's first reaction to this horrific news is, I'm not surprised! If being a "news junkie" means that when unspeakable events like this happen you can't react like a caring human being but instead are just "numb" and are not surprised, then thankfully I will never be a news junkie. Oh, and sorry for "picking" on Rich - must have made it a really tough day for him!
Deletereally?! not surprised that 20 little children are shot to death at their school! Really???!!! I guess nothing surprises you Rich! What an ass!
ReplyDeleteCome on man.
DeleteTwenty dead children is the price we pay for having The Second Amendment. Y'all enjoy your freedom, y' hear?
ReplyDeleteFunny, on this issue Christine Craft is to the right of Michael Savage. She's now a certifiable lunatic...
ReplyDeletedo you know what illegal weaponry the Connecticut killer was carrying? answer...none.
DeleteHey some 80 year old man just ran over and killed 3 people on a Bay Area freeway... I think we should ban cars and trucks....
ReplyDeleteDon't be an idiot. There is however the issue of whether senior citizens should be driving at all. That is a fair topic of discussion. Go back and try to come up with better attempts at analogies. Loser.
DeleteThat's why we have speed limits, seat belt and DUI laws, restrictions on the performance of automobiles and restrictions on who can get a license, you idiot.
ReplyDeleteHow did any of those prevent a person from using their car as a weapon? Looking for someone to call an idiot? Look in the mirror. Banning firearms will only give potential killers more creative options. Socialist.
DeleteWhen will most Americans, or for that matter, when will our Congress and Senate have the cajones to stand up to fanatic gun-toting, special interest groups such as the NRA who DO NOT represent the mainstream of the American public. WHEN?
ReplyDeleteNot in my lifetime.
At this point, law enforcement in Connecticut describes perfectly legal glock and sig sauer semis and a semi-auto bushmaster.223 rifle..If you want to ban semi-automatic weapons..then you'll be going door to door to collect most American handguns. really?
DeleteChristine, this isn't about Asperger's syndrome. It's about the frequent mass murder of innocent people in the US by lunatics who get their hands on dangerous guns far too easily.
DeleteYour lame argument that laws are useless because they can't be enforced is ridiculous.
Deletebtw re: Title VII litigation in the federal courts ...I'm the one who refused to be a victim.
DeleteIf you are as committed as you claim to view things realistically, perhaps you night want to consider the possibility that your employment problems stemmed from disagreeable personality rather than age and gender based discrimination.
"I have clients, several of them with aspergers. They are all brilliant academicians, but they have one huge problem. Do you know what it is?"
DeleteA lousy lawyer?
Christine, Yes, you are proud of not being a victim. Please remind us all of the final outcome of your case. No, not the minor victories you won along the way that were later reversed, what was the final outcome? What was the size of your recovery?
DeleteWe need to change the law back to the time when semi automatics were not legal or really difficult to acquire legally. No need to go door to door, people could take their chances, turn them in or risk legal consequences. I'm not saying this is exactly how it needs to be done, but there should not be guns around that shoot lots of bullets in a short amount of time and that can easily be reloaded.
ReplyDeleteThe issue of mental illness needs to be better addressed.
ReplyDeleteThere has been discussion regarding Aspergers and autism in the media regarding this situation, however, we don't yet know what diagnosis this killer had, but we do know that he used guns to kill little children, thus the focus on guns. Also, there has been a brewing concern and feeling of helplessness regarding these semi-automatic guns for a long time now and people are speaking up.
DeleteChristine
DeleteI love you for your opinion.
DeleteI was on the air yesterday, fill-in for Karel's syndicated show in several American cities. God has nothing to do with it. What is "fithy"
DeletePiers Morgan, a man of dubious ethics, is neither my countryman nor my role model.
BTW, I also have big german shepherds and always have.
for a great look at the current status of the vick Pits...see
www.badrap.org............Oakland's finest
This Christine person's stupidity is exceeded only by her arrogance.
ReplyDeleteJust like gun owners who have a gut reaction to anything threatening their gun ownership or any control on guns, the people who dislike guns and dislike watching crime after crime involving guns have a gut reaction to the number of crimes involving guns.
ReplyDeleteI've got the answer.
Deletenew info out of New England media...shooter was mercilessly bullied as a child...was a braniac...not social...made fun of..quite common for Asperger's sufferers...not clear what meds he was on..no fb page or twitter account...loved violent video games..
ReplyDeleteRemarkable Christine Craft can diagnose mental disorders from newspaper stories!
DeleteOh, he loved violent video games.
DeleteChristine, you go on and on about Aspergers. Congratulations, you are an expert on Aspergers, just like you're a expert about guns, and so many other things. WHO CARES?
DeleteWe know this mass murderer was mentally ill, just like the other crazy killers who got their hands on powerful guns and slaughtered far too many innocent people.
ReplyDeleteSo, the current Murderer/Warmonger-in-Chief is upset over the mass killing in Connecticut. I'd like to go on record and point out the crocodile tears of Mass Murderer Obama.
Here is the estimate of how many innocent civilians were murdered by drone strikes ordered
by Obama in Pakistan since the Nobel "Peace" Prize President took office: "According to the report, the U.S.
@8:33, Does this mean you voted for Romney?
DeleteThe socialist obummer isn't left enough for you? You're doomed.
Deletewhen you give mortgage loans to people without credit, not one year, 2 yrs, not even 5 yrs but over 30 yrs!!! you are just building up a time bomb until the entire system collapse.
ReplyDeletewhen you let people without clear mind (peaceful mind also) to obtain 300 round rapid fire semi automatic assault weapon... listen, we are not at the point of collapse yet... it will come very soon...
Good point 2:28. If disorder breaks out, i don't want to be one of the unarmed either.
DeleteYes, clearly the problem is lax lending problems.
DeleteThis was a well-heeled family.
Deletethe rifle in this case, from what we know, was a semi-automatic rapid load weapon..which can fire as many as six rounds in a second..as long as your trigger finger can move that fast. The magazines were not 100 load or 300 load, but 30 round mags.
DeleteThe circular mags that hold a hundred rounds..usually jam...for obvious reasons.
Yeah Christine, do you have a point? So guns aren't to blame?
DeleteChristine, it doesn't matter if it's 30 or 100 round mags.
ReplyDeleteMost people with Aspergers are not violent. This killer had additional mental health problems. I can't judge the mother or the father for anything because we don't have the facts. The only actual fact that I have is that he killed all those people with guns that allowed him to kill many in a short time.
ReplyDeleteyou are absolutely right.
DeleteI've heard talk hosts saying as fact that the shooter fired a "hundred bullets in a minute". They are unaware of what a 30 clip magazine is and the fact that one has to eject the emptied clip and reload a new one.
DeleteEveryone who understandably wants to make guns go away..are you going to come up with a way to go to most American households and seize semi-automatic guns? Most guns in America are semi-automatic. My point is that there should be a basic understanding of what the terms actually mean, before proposing any gun control laws. I've heard folks call the weapons in this case "automatic" weapons..They weren't. BTW, thanks to such misinformation, masquerading as expertise, gun sales across the country are soaring since Friday.
Christine, you and your aspergers tangent and self-glorification of your gun knowledge....
DeleteIs this the way you covered the news back before you were fired? Because if it is, I can understand why you were canned. Forget about age and gender discrimination. If you can't report stories clearly and go off on wacky tangents that make yourself the focus of the news, you can't do the job and deserve to be fired.
