There's plenty of you around looking for a quick nosh. I'll be here, in and out most of the day. Tomorrow too because for the tribe, (psst, think Jewish faith), it's just another two days.
Notes...Yo, Christine and the other posse. Enough on the pro/anti-gun thread. You all have made your point(s)--time to move on and explore other topics: cryonics maybe? Geraldo?
The fiscal cliff?
So, did you catch the radio show on Sunday night? Dynamite. Three solid guests and loads of humor. If you didn't hear, wait for the podcasts later...and on Saturday night, while interviewing Don Sanchez, Da Mayor, Willie Brown, called in and provided some good fun. It was nice to hear from the "big cat." Diane Dwyer of KNTV, (NBC Bay Area), added a lot too.
The guests have been solid here. We hope to continue that trend. To see the new web page and check out the podcasts, click here.
See ya later.
During your last two shows I did not switch the dial even once as I've done in the past. Congratulations! You are doing a better job at not interrupting but still need work. McPartlin Sanchez and Roberts were on the verge of saying something interesting a couple of times and you rolled over them with some inane banter. Listening and recognizing when your guest gets excited to tell a story is a skill you need to develop. At this point it seems you are too eager to be funny with your interjections. Tone it down big boy. Good job, the show gets better and I am sure Karel and Dr. Bill are losing listeners who are gravitating towards you.
ReplyDeleteI propose that Geraldo be cryonically frozen inside a large ice cube and pushed off the fiscal cliff.
ReplyDeleteGotta laugh about that pro/anti gun thread which I was part of....it just started taking on a life of it's own. Currently there is no better topic especially if you caught the news today. It just keeps happening. That said, it's time to settle down and enjoy the holidays.
ReplyDeleteHappy going to the in-laws for a crappy meal, worthless gift and the same old boring stories. Cheers!!!
ReplyDeleteLast night I discussed guns, an issue which I so don't understand. As soon as I started in the phones started lighting up. The phone bank was jammed for 90 minutes. I didn't even want to discuss it more than :30, but I found myself never getting to the points I wanted to make. It really is like fish in a barrel.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to come here on Christmas Eve Day (I love that moniker) and get shat upon a bit. Some say that "no news is good news", but now i'm thinking "if a tree falls in the forest..." I guess no gifts for me on Christmas. No box of chocolates, nor a lump of cool. Poor old non-believer me.
Anyway...sorry I've not heard your show, 'Chard. I heard a part of it last week while I was visiting a friend in Monterey, when you were speaking to a sports broadcaster. The signal wasn't great, but I heard some of it. Not bad! Good lucks! Hopefully I won't be able to hear it because I'll be working :-)
It must be burning Karel's ass that Maury Langston was hand picked to fill in for matress man on Monday. Which again brings to the forefront Lowenstein's cushy contract: he rests on all major Jewish holidays as well as all Christian, Muslim, Buddhist and Satanic holidays! By the sounds of it Weintraub is eyeing Maury's spot. Maybe he nows something we don't....
DeleteI'm ready for the Gary Radnich says he loves guns topic. Life couldn't be that perfect..
ReplyDeleteHey Rich...what's with ESPN jumping to 95.7? how will that effect 680 & 1050 overnights & weekends?
ReplyDeleteCBS Sports is with KNBR now. Cumulus and CBS Sports. Tolbert added to CBS Roster.
DeleteESPN had no home.
Good move for 95.7 at least they will air quality sports talk now.Yahoo sports radio was terriable especailly the one late night John Harris.Guess KNBR will now have CBS and Fox? now.
DeleteHope the JT the schtick show goes away as well.
ESPN didn't exactly jump to 95.7. They had no choice since Cumulus stations will carry the new CBS Sports Network. Including former KGMZ host Brandon Tierney in morning drive (middle of the night in SF).
DeleteJack Klugman died. As the somber ABC anchor added "He died at the age of 90 with his wife by his side" I laughed. Because it reminded me of a standup Allan King did in the 80's on HBO. He pulled out the obits and read "Fuyu Tokada, the worlds oldest man died at 112".."He was survived by his wife, 114"..!!! "No longer how long a man lives, the wife still outlives him!"
ReplyDeleteThen, years later Allan King died..survived by his wife...
What is with this column / blog? I come back & it's all about your radio show on the weekends ... This has turned into a non-stop promo .... who really cares? Looking at the "guest lists" who cares to listen.
ReplyDeleteI went to a Media Critic's site and nonstop Self Promotion erupted.
Looks like conflict of interest to me.
the John Harris clown...the chutzpah of it all!
ReplyDeletelike HOUSTON is the center of the sports world and we are just one of their minor league affiliates...yeah right. Houston, that world class city, you know the one with the ASStros, instead of the world champion Giants. a Pete Franklin style Flush to yahoo!
Really enjoyed the Ken Korach interview and the one with Peter Hartlaub. However, the Don Sanchez and Willie Brown segment was ruined by all three of you talking at once. Most of the time poor Don could hardly get in a word. Please let your guests -- especially such interesting ones -- talk. I really wanted to hear their stories and this was a missed opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to tell Rich from the very first show but his response is: ”it's my show, I conduct this train, I don't need callers, I'm creating a brand, Gremlins, Larry King”.
