CBS Sports Radio wooing ESPN Radio's John Kincade; Rich Lieberman 415 Media Exclusive

Various industry sources are buzzing me about a possible defection from ESPN Radio Network to the new CBS Sports Radio Network.

My sources indicate CBS Sports Radio Network has targeted the services of John Kincade, currently the host of "The John Kincade Show" on ESPN Radio heard nationally Sundays from 7-10am ET. In addition to his own show on Sunday mornings that has run since 2007, Kincade seems to be the first body off the bench filling in on "Hill and Schlereth" and the new "Coach and Company" program. Kincade served as the fill-in host for Colin Cowherd for many years before the show became a TV simulcast a few years back.

Kincade filled in during the gaps on ESPN Radio when both Brian Kenny and Doug Gottlieb exited the network, but was not chosen to take over the time slots. It is not apparent whether he was ever offered the option considering he broadcasts out of Atlanta.

The logical link is that Kincade has been the co-host of "Buck and Kincade" in Atlanta since 2000. The station is operated by Dickey Broadcasting, the same Dickey family that operates Cumulus Broadcasting. Cumulus is the business partner of CBS Sports Radio in their new sports talk radio network so it would make sense for them to want to add one of their own.

680 The Fan, the station where Kincade works in Atlanta dropped the ESPN Radio affiliation a month ago and will be the home of the CBS Sports Radio national programming. Despite the change of local station affiliation, Kincade has continued to be featured on ESPN Radio.

Attempts to contact Kincade for any comment were unsuccessful.

  1. I keep my XM Radio next to my bed so I can listen to his show at (yawn) 4 AM Sunday mornings. He is very entertaining and does not rely on lame callers (i.e. J.T. the Brick). The John Kincade Show is also on KNBR but they will pull it off so they can broadcast boring Commonwealth Club rehash.

  2. Did anybody hear the Morton Anderson interview on THEGAME?..Hysterically funny. I'm sorry I missed the start because what I heard was loud laughs making. He talked about booze,Americans, and topped it with "I'm Danish".."What did I know of football?..I see big guys bend over and another guy get behind him, licks his fingers and shoves them under the other guys rear-end"
    "I thought,hey,I don't know if I'm into this scene".
If its podcast-listen..funniest interview I've heard in years.

    1. Ok,your right-how about this. Funny to hear Radnich brag about his privileged life and the best of everything..while he says "I work my ass off"..LOLOLOL..Sitting in front of a camera being goofy is hard work??..lololol. He better work harder to reduce his ass..his ass is plenty huge. He hardly fits into any chair!

  4. Some really funny stuff on sports radio the last couple of days: Al Madrigal of the Dailey Show on Radnich. Raddy: Tell us some memories you have of KNBR. Al: Do you still talk about how Bob stole Pappa's job?... And Radnich asked if he had any of Radnich?..Al: "You mean all the mean stuff you say about people?"

Make him a regular, break the KNBR bank if you have to.

    1. And that BS Raddy gave about "his kids" finding that website about his hands? Bull..that's KNBR employee's searching the internet for anything critical. You post anything about Radnich..and it gets printed out and put under his nose-THAT'S a fact.
      Kids? ..corporate "kids".

  7. No real move up since all the prime time radio hours are filled up. Maybe more $$ etc or better weekend hours perhaps.

Not bad as host since its only one person talking.

I hope CBS Radio goes the way of ESPN all guests and very few callers routes instead of the fox sports yahoo route of callers who dont have anything to say or regular callers annoying at best or topics you could care less about.

  8. One last about Al. You all know that when a nationally known comic does a KNBR morning show..he's later on Comcast or at least KRON at 6:45.
No Al at either station later. Just when he could could have did 10 minutes on bay area latinos in the sports media. All one of them!. Kate Scott swears they took her job!
