Word from one of my reliable national insiders:

CBS is rumored to rid its radio division of all but "major-market" stations. That's a lot of audio commerce. Not to mention several significant outlets with major call letters.

KCBS, the local all-news biggie, doesn't figure into the equation.

  4. I hope they dump their Sacramento affiliate "1140 The Fan"! Ever since Don Geronimo aka Mike Sorce took over as program director the station is AWFUL!!! His idea of great programming is their local programs are live while the rest of the programs are tape delayed. Only one show has anything to do with sports Grant Napear. Otherwise, most shows are either about farting, sex and other bodily functions.

Thank you for letting me rant.

  5. Too bad Disney/ABC didn't hang on to its major market radio properties.

  6. This is old news, as CBS has been on this initiative for a decade plus. They are just waiting to get good offers for the properties they still own outside the Major markets (Top 10).

They sold off most of these stations already, with a few outliers, Sac and West Palm Beach being two...not a good offer yet for either..and no desperation to sell, CBS just wants to be more lean and focused where the money is.
