1. Will KGO carry the show? (6-9 PM PT) (What a delicious irony) Of course they will! On the other hand, don't rule out KSFO, (which is rumored to be up for sale).
2....and the biggie? (Albeit a longshot)-- Could Savage eventually do Ronn Owen's local show, (in addition to his national show), from 9-Noon? The conventional wisdom: No way. He, (Savage), has tried that before and it wore him out, but nothing so outrageous would shock me anymore.
100-1. At best.
Why would Savage want to do Ronn Owens' piddly local show, when he can be on 150 radio stations at once? That would make zero sense to me. Besides, 9-to-noon is becoming a less important daypart anyhoo; all that stations seem to be interested in is gaining "listen at work" cumes, usually by cutting commercials and playing more music. Who would want to listen to Savage at work? OK somebody will, but generally that would be an off-pitch. Savage should do well in his new timeslot on his new network -- assuming the Cumulus guys give him enough rope. Presumably, he's negotiated his boundaries into the mix.
ReplyDeleteCumulus said Savage will be doing 6p-9p west coast time in order to make him available for 9p-12mid syndication on the east coast. This slot is where Savage fits best for the Cumulus corporate plan that includes in-house talkers Geraldo Rivera, Mike Huckabee and Mark Levin. All that's left for Cumulus to do is find a 3p-6p east coast host and they will be covered from 9a-12mid on the east coast.
ReplyDeleteThe Sewage nation is back
ReplyDeleteWatch him gloat!!
ReplyDeleteOh and what is with that photo? It looks like he photoshopped in a fake toupee!
ReplyDeleteVery good. I had the same (false toupee) reaction.
DeleteCome January 1st you will see Michael Savage on KGO from 9:00 to noon. It is a natural fit.
ReplyDeleteAny other time slot is only temporary.
This has nothing to do with KGO, Ronn Owens, or anyone else in that building right now other than KSFO. This is a national move by Cumulus, irrespective of what some of you believe has local implications. It doesn't. Savage doesn't want to discuss local issues. He wants to be a blowhard in his own special way, promoting himself, his brand, etc. His entire life/career has always been about having as big a stage as possible, and speaking to the Bay Area is really pointless for him at this time.
DeleteQuestion about the size of the Ronn Owens current audience.
ReplyDeleteIn approximate thousands... how many listeners are there listening to Ronn's show, say at any given point in the 10 am to 11 am hour?
I don't know if it would be 5,000 or 15,000 or 50,000 individuals who might hear a given guest or segment.
What is your best estimate if you have good feel for it?
On Savage's webpage (part of wnd.com) it says he will be on KSFO.
