Mirkarimi Overload

There comes a time when you get sick of hearing about a story. Especially a story that is essentially SF-oriented and one which I doubt is of any more real interest outside the immediate areas of Pacific Heights and City Hall.

I'm referring to the Ross Mirkarimi story. Are you, like me, bored with this insufferable soap opera?

Look, I got it when this story first evolved. A sheriff of a major city is accused of beating up his wife, in this case, a former Telenueva star who's pretty. They have a kid too. There's a lot of intrigue, irony, sex and domestic violence, (sort of). It bleeded, it leaded. I get it.

There's a resolution coming to this case. It couldn't come too fast. I've been over this for a long time ago and I believe most of you all would agree with me. I could be wrong, but I'm not.

Call it Mirkarimi Overload.

  1. I'm as tired as seeing Mirkarimi as I am Ed Lee. Both go away! Please.....

  2. Some weird side tangents to the story also. His Lawyers female assistant..who looks like Ross.

And speaking of resemblance Ross has a real former Sheriff Richard Hongisto vibe. I wonder if that's at play with those who don't want Ross to be another liberal Hongisto type to be in power?

  3. there is utterly no allegation of "beating" anyone or "bloodying" anyone. Eliana is a telenovela actress and movie actress in Venezuela. The BOS vote is expected to come down on Oct. 9. Any resultant appellate litigation will take a couple of years to be completed. One arm grab does not an abuser make. One should also evaluate the person who orchestrated the infamous video and what their psychological profile suggests. see.www.citireport.com Ivory Madison, in her own words... this is not just a "concerned' neighbor who thought one arm grab was worth attempting to destroy a family(Ms. Madison never observed any domestic violence between Ross and eliana, Ms. Madison has intervened before in the lives of unsuspecting couples.YOu should salute Ross Mirkarimi, as embarrassed as he is about the arm grab, for persisting and insisting on due process. There are huge issues about misuse of the city charter in this matter as well, which hold major repercussions for how mayors get rid of other elected officials who won't kiss their ass. The proper remedy is this case is not to contrive "official misconduct" charges when the person wasn't even in office at the time. Can you say First District Court of Appeals?damages? Sometimes a story isn't perfect for the instant resolution today's news cycle and short attention spans prefers. Sometimes things are complicated and require patience and due diligence. Yo le creo a Eliana. The proper remedy to remove the sheriff for grabbing his wife's arm during a heated argument about her repeated penchant for taking their young son out of the country for long periods of time is a recall election, not this abomination. The role of the Chronicle particularly in pimping this story is also worth of examination.

    1. I question your motives. Lets say that the trumped up charges were against a garbage man rather than Ross, would you spend your time blogging about their misjustice or just let the system treat them fairly?

Deluting the facts by undermining a third party does make the elected sherrif's conduct pass the smell test when you boil it down.

    2. I never "delute". The mayor charged Ross Mirkarimi with numerous acts of "official misconduct"ie: dissuading witnesses, endangering a child etc...all that stuff was tossed out by the Ethics Commission(because they couldn't find a factual basis). The Ethics Commission, non-unanimously(lead commish's savvy warning about the consequences of a finding of official misconduct), found that Ross had uh...grabbed his wife's arm when he wasn't yet the sheriff.Ross has always admitted, as has his wife, that the arm grab occurred. The motivations of the major players in this attempted political lynching are extremely interesting and important. To not acknowledge that is just lazy thinking. Do you know how much money has been spent by the city fathers and mothers on the one second arm grab so far? Is that too complex for you to "delute"? The ultimate cost to the city and county of SF will be much more than the million already spent. Ask yourself why, if you dare.

    3. The whole thing strikes me as an attempt by Lee to eliminate a political rival over a very minor dispute between husband and wife. I am bored with that, not with the usurpation of the voters' choice. If this goes beyond the Board of Supervisors expect this story to continue.

  5. I started getting bored with the story about a week after it broke. We in the burbs dont give a rats ass this contrived and stupid story.

  6. I think some would argue that the true orchestrator of the video was the wife/actress herself. She put on quite a performance on that video. These two drama addicts need to go live their lives out of the public eye. please god, please god, please god....make them go away!

  7. If this story had been covered like this in the "good old days", Rich would be falling all over himself talking about the magnificent coverage.

Rich is nothing if not predictable. The media gives this lots of coverage to Rich is "bored." If it had minimal coverage we' have "indignant" Rich, why is the media overlooking this very important story...

  8. It's all over for Ross in San Francisco, he should head down to South America with his wife and son and start anew. I am sure they would love to have him. We are sick of him and all his BS up here. Time for a change, Ross.

    1. It's not over for Ross at all.

His poor judgement makes him qualified to be a fill in NFL referee. After a few manufactured tearful calls, at the end, he can playfully toss his toddler in the air as the wife looks on adoringly.

  10. Did you mean "telenovela", instead of "new TV" telenueva? And while we're at it, I wish someone at ESPN Desportes would tell Chris Boomer Berman it's "mano a mano" NOT "mano y mano"!

  11. We have a Sheriff who took a plea bargain because he didn't believe in the Jury system. Took a plea bargain, but not the consequences of that plea bargain. He's taken to pleading his case on whatever media outlet will have him.

Call me old fashioned, but he should have gone to trial. The story changed when Ross stopped collecting a paycheck.

I hope Ivory Madison sues the people who are bashing her motives and character. It wasn't just Ivory, Eliana took her stories to another neighbor as well.

If Ross gets his job back, I plan to produce bumper stickers and tee shirts on Cafe Press that say "ROSS, PLEASE DON'T GRAB ME".

It should finance my retirement nicely.

    1. Ivory Madison's own words are more than enough to cast doubt on her motivations for attempting to destroy a young family. Callie Williams, the "other" neighbor to whom you refer is not a female vengeance assasin comic book writer. Callie Williams did not tell Eliana that she'd had better make a video pointing to the arm grab stimata,if she ever hoped to gain custody of her son in a hypothetical divorce.Ivory Madison was the camerawoman. See more about Ms. Madison at www.citireport.com Ivory Madison , in her own words. She's just your average, compassionate concerned neighbor who tries to do the right thing and "save" her timorous, woebegone neghbor while pursuing her secret self.I like the picture in the citireport piece by Larry Bush. She's strangely attracted to bad boys brandishing pistols and flexing wife-beater t-shirts,poor little autodidact, lost in Baton "Rogue".
If you aren't having some questions about her motives in all this, then you just aren't thinking.

    2. In case you didn't know. Ivory Madison is a public figure. Authoress, lecturer,CEO of media company she owns,She advertises herself on her website as not only all of these things, but highly "legally trained, editor of the Law Review, Fellow at the Cal supreme ct. etc. I'm sure you over there at the Chronicle know what public figure status means.

  13. Ivory and her husband contributed to Mirkarimi's campaign. Which is all public record. Was that part of the vast conspiracy to destroy the man, Christine?

    Waiting with bated breath....heh.

  14. You are right,it is absolutely the most extraordinary thing. Abraham Mertens(spouse of Mrs. Madison Mertens) went on a tour of ross and Eliana's house when Ross was at work. You can read about it in the Mertens declaration filed with the Ethics commission(the whole record is available online). Mr. Mertens describes how outraged and disgusted he was to spy a framed nude photograph on the wall. It was a Edward Weston print. Sputtering with fury at that outrageous home decor, Mertens went on to allow his name to be included in a list of fundraiser supporters. One has to ask, why? Did Mr. Mertens, despite being an obvious prude, not have the courage of his convictions? It is really helpful to actually read the entire record.

  15. you're right Christine you're not a lady. you're an old punk! all washed up . have a big dude like that sheriff grab your arm rock you around a little bit, in anger like he did to his old lady. I know you'd be filing a lawsuit, suing the hell out of them if something like that happened to you.

the sheriff admitted he lost it, on your crappy radio show and right in front of you. your right Christine you shouldn't be intimidated by me you should watch out for that f ing sick sheriff.

I have the distinct impression that you like to think of yourself as "rocking women's worlds". Would the women in your life agree?

  16. Christine, The only problem that I see coming up is, will her country let him in, because that's the only thing he has going forward. Maybe, if he promises to vote for Socialist Obama and he wins? Obama might make him in charge of teaching his people to be bigger punks than they already are. Please stay in Sacramento and kick back and drink more than you do, or start. You are getting too involved in this bull shit guy.

  18. No, I'm not bored. This Mirkirami story fascinates me. An elected official loses his job before he takes office because he has been adjudged to have committed "official misconduct." His crime? Grabbing his wife's arm to restrain her as she tries to get away from him, thereby causing a bruise on said arm. Charged with four misdemeanors in all (domestic violence, child endangerment, false imprisonment, and dissuading a witness), he is allowed to plea bargain to one misdemeanor count of false imprisonment because, DA Gascon said, "Our intent was not political or to embarrass him. It was to seek justice."

The day after "the crime" Mirkarimi's wife tearfully tells her "friend" the "lawyer" about Mirkarimi being so mean to her and bruising her arm. Hold on! Her friend says. Lemme get this on video! and the rest is history.

Hilarious! Justice for a small bruise, not a beating.

also fyi, much like bullshit, koolaid is one word

I don't think she liked being grabbed by the arm and shook up by him.
