Bobby Fitz, your NBC Olympics Basketball Announcer can't tell the Difference between "Mark Zuckerberg" and Mark Zuckerberg

Well, so much for Rudy's basketball gig at the Olympics. Now America knows why we here in the Bay Area have long suffered the ailment known as Bobby Fitz.

During the gold-medal game between Team USA and Spain, Rudy picked out "Mark Zuckerberg" in the crowd , (only Mark Zuckerburg wasn't at the game.) The actor who played Zuck in The Social Network, Jesse Eisenberg, was. I think he screwed up.

Oh shit.

Wonder if that is topic worthy on Knibber once Rudy gets back. I can just imagine how he'll try to spin this; you know, I was just joking. C'mon, man--my early pick. Rudy will always be Rudy. Only this one, he might have some 'splainin to do.

Another Notre Dame analogy, perhaps? Rudy needs a touchdown Jesus badly on this one.

    1. A dome on Candlestick?..for what? Its only used for football. Maybe you should post without drinking 617.

    2. Yes, they domed Candlestick last month. Don't you read the news?

  3. WAS THAT THE GOOFBALL?..I saw a big headline on Yahoo about an announcer who said Zuckerberg was at the 'Games. I passed on reading the rest.
That's another who Radnich calls brilliant?. Figures.

  4. I can't stand Fitz on his KNBR show either but how about a little objectivity from time to time. Fitz didn't suck doing Olympic basketball. He was just a generic voice describing the action and did a decent job. The audience didn't really know who he was, just a disembodied voice.

Some times this blog is so eager to rip certain people that it makes a mountain out of a mole hill and loses credibility.

  5. @ Anon 6:41 pm: Some structural engineer by the name of George Reppas used to call into KNBR from time to time, back when Dave Newhouse was the host of Sportsphone 68 (circa 1987). He claimed that the technology was already in place to build a retractible roof over Candlestick that both the Giants and the 49er could utilize during inclement weather game days, and that if the then-powers that be could muster up the resources, it could be built. Reppas also said that the name of the park should be changed from Candlestick to 'World Park' or some such name. I give Newhouse credit- He gave Reppas more or less an open forum on his show during that time, but I guess the powers that be weren't listening.

A Anon 7:03 pm. = I think that is precisely why he was hired in the first place.

  7. Hey,Raddy let it out that Fitz's contract with the Warriors is up..so Raddy playing both side as usual Sucking up to Fitz like he has no idea the announcer is hated by the bay area. See? Its that fantasy world he creates that Damon Bruce blew up,and why he sulked and stayed at home.
And Kate now sounds like a special ed teacher in dealing with Radnich..enabling. Her only way to deal with the madness.

    1. Radnich is top dog at KNBR and deserves to be. All your ridiculous fantasies about him and Kate exist only in your mind.

Sorry he's not your cup of tea but lots of people like him. Enough already.

  8. After that post Radnich returned to laying it on very thick of Fitz's brilliance. Did you know Gary thinks Bob is just too smart for Sports Radio?
Like I said, the more Gary Radnich praises you,the bigger the asshole you must be. Bruno,Salvatore,Hammer,Beane,Nixon,Rush, and many more (all true)
    And he praises Bob.

  9. Still got a hard on for Fitz, huh? Amazing... if he sucked THAT bad, do you think NBC would put him on the single most watched Olympic event? Get over it - he has the job you obviously covet and pine for.

  10. I wonder if Papa is contacting the Warriors?..or Comcast at doing Warrior games.hmm? Turnabout is fair play..

  11. Radnich made a point of bad mouthing Rich today within the first 10 minutes of his show.
"those people with those little blogs that don't even get paid for doing it and bad mouth fitz are a joke" I am loosely quoting the great one. For someone who claims to never pay attention to the critics he sure seems to know a lot.

    1. And that's why Radnich is a joke here..a source of derision. He wants to play both sides..lie so obvious in praising Fitz and using all his sincerity..but knows that's all a lie as Fitz is a company goon, hated by the Warrior fans. And of course Radnich admires him for being an all out company shill..like he is. One day Bob will get the axe..and the Warriors will better for it.

    2. Radnich admires Fitz for being an all out company shill..like he is???

Radnich isn't a shill. If anything he pokes fun at management for their persistent promotion of KNBR teams.

Seems like you are spending more time listening to voices in your head then what's broadcast on radio. I fail to understand the rabid Radnich hatred that abounds on this site.

    3. Stan, it's becoming apparent that your real problem with Radnich is his wife. That's kind of sad. This is the year 2012, it's time to let that stuff go.

    4. Radnich is pure shill. If cant hear that,go back to kindergarten remedial "About life lessons". Just too much for me to teach you. If you cant face reality and the truth..dont read this blog. Eh,we all know your a goon intern or that guy who writes Radnich 10 love emails a day.
Amazing, you dont understand, but argue with experts who do.

    5. @5:16 I'm not asking you to teach me anything, nor am I arguing with any experts.

I've been listening for Radnich for a long time, am not a KNBR goon, and think his popularity speaks for itself. Your simplistic name-calling and hysterical rejection of other's opinions reveal your limitations.

Which experts are you talking about?

  12. To the idiotic poster 'Big Vinny is a hack,'why don't you ask Greg Papa to get over it? He was helping Fitz out with the Warriors, and to show his gratitude, the little weasel Fitz went behind his back and knifed him to get Papa's job.

Fitz has fooled a lot of people because he knows who to stroke and who to blow. He's a master at brown nosing and sucking up to important people. In case this is big news to you, radio execs love it when people who want to get on the air suck up to them. Fitz should write a primer on "How I sucked off radio executives and the Warriors front office to get where I am!"

Jealous? That's a laugh! How can anyone be jealous about a guy who has no conscience? And as far as basketball being the "most watched Olympic event," NOT! The ratings for basketball were among the lowest. Obviously you don't know what you're talking about, but you love to take shots are Rich and his posters. Why don't you join your hero Fitzie under his rock? Then you can blow kisses at each other and slober all over him and tell him how great a broadcaster he is!

  13. And for those who want unbiased? Bob is a run of the mill PBP man. He makes many mistakes-as the Olympics showed, and anybody who listens to Warrior cast's has heard Jim Barnett have to correct Bob many times..I couldn't imagine Jim telling Bill King "that's incorrect" or "That's not an excuse"..as Fitzgerald can never say a Warrior was at fault, and certainly NEVER second guess the head coach.
Everything about Bob is please the check signer..no real principles except one. I never heard Bob go racist. I give him that.

  16. Thank you fatty Fitzgerald for providing the highlights of the Olympics. I wonder if His patna ShaftBrooks will mention what Rudy Giggles Fatassgerald said? I still don't understand how he keeps his job, he has to be the most disliked bay area sportscaster ever. It's hard as a warrior fan to listen to this tool . Cant wait to hear how Andrew Bogut is better than Dwight Howard, because knowing the Irish troll you know it's coming.

  17. From Gaga V

I really thought this post was sort of piling on to the guy everybody hates; I mean, anyone can confuse someone for someone else. No big deal.

Maybe not -- it's all over the Internet; CNN.com, Deadspin, Twitter, you name it, they're jumping all over this 'NBC broadcaster' for this gaffe. Fitzgerald has become a symbol for the 'epic fail' that many consider NBC's Olympic coverage to be.

Hilarious. Hatred for Fitzgerald has now reached global proportions. And most of the world has never even heard his radio show, so they have no idea what a douche he really is.

Did Cranky really say on the air that Fitzgerald's Warriors contract is up? Because if that's the case, and the Warriors do the right thing and bring back Papa.... then Fitzgerald is basically done at the BLEEDER, as well.

This is almost too good to be true. Please don't tease me like this.

    2. Actually, I've never said 'Fatnich,' I go with 'Cranky.' (I think I saw that nickname on this blog somewhere, though I'd love to take credit for it.) But here's one I just thought of: 'Fatzgerald.' I probably won't use it, so feel free.
