Karel really is a celebrity...Just ask him!

This Tuesday, July 31st, Karel will be walking his FIRST red carpet as a celebrity, on the other side of the rope instead of being working media, he will be WORKING the media.

Sometime after 7pm and before 7:45 on Tuesday, Karel will arrive at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, CA to see Memphis (great seats available by the way). He will walk the Red Carpet and be able to sign autographs, pose for photos, the whole sha-bang, The Pantages is Ustreaming the event from their page live, and you can be a part!

If you live in Los Angeles and want to greet Karel as he has yet another milestone in his career (remember, Karel started coming to this theatre at 16, hoping one day to BE in the industry, not just COVER the industry, but be an entertainer). Now, as he walks the carpet, that dream is realized for him; for the last 20 years Karel has made a living (no matter how meager!) off of entertaining alone: radio, TV, stage, film and print. He has, in fact, arrived. And this is the year that is seeing him transition from stage and radio to the small and large screens again (Karel has been a regular on several TV shows in the past, had songs chart in Billboard, produced and directed award-winning shorts and music videos).

So come and greet him as he does. The front of the Pantages with the red carpet is free to access to the public and the more people there enthusiastically greeting Karel the better! Plus, you'll see LOTS of other stars!

So come down to the Pantages, Tuesday, July 31st 7pm, on Hollywood Blvd near Vine, as Karel fulfills yet another dream. Be a part if you can, it's free, and should be fun. And if you can afford to, check out the play during its engagement in Los Angeles at the Pantages. Seats are more affordable than you think! Find out more at

    1. Poor deluded Karel.

Doesn't he realize that it's a very cheap price for the "Memphis" producers/publicists to pay .. 2 free tickets, a few free drinks and an hour of ego-stroking .. in order to get days of positive mentions on his radio program, not to mention the obligatory positive review he wrote for "The Huffington Post"?

Dozens of radio and TV people were invited to be "celebrities" for the night, too, and they all did exactly as expected .. went on the air the next day and shilled for "Memphis."

(Maybe if those producers saw Karel's actual audience numbers they might have realized that his endorsement wasn't even worth the two free tickets they gave him.)

  2. This guy's so full of himself, it's kind of sad.

  3. Give me a break! This guy shouldn't even be on the air. This is typical of today's ridiculously low standards of radio broadcasting, which has sunk to new lows. Karel...a joke!

  6. With no opinion on Karel but I am wondering out loud. Is it better to be ripped on Rich's blog or never mentioned at all?

Someone once said "I don't care what they are saying about me as long as they are talking about me!"

  7. Last week Karel tried to tell people critical for still using a pre-taped show the day of the batman shooting that all talk show host use "live pre-taped" programing and most of what we hear is actually taped. Not tape delayed but taped for later broadcast like it's an infomercial.

  8. Hey Rich...I have a question for you....why do you even give this clueless dolt the time of day? No one listens to him, so who cares?

  9. He's just pathetic.

  11. I read Karel's wikipedia entry - it doesn't take too many guesses to figure out who wrote it. While I admire the guy's ambition, it seems he's made a career of being on both sides of "the rope line." He works for a magazine or other media outlet, then - "surprise" - gets decent pub from that outlet when he puts something out on his own.

  12. Karel gives gay people a bad name! (I should know because I'm gay and most of my gay friends hate bitch!)

  13. "HI, MY NAME IS KAREL AND I'M A RADIO STAR! I'VE FOOLED CUMULUS MANAGEMENT INTO PUTTING ME ON KGO BECAUSE THEY CAN FULFILL THEIR QUOTE OF GAY ON AIR PEOPLE FOR SF BY HIRING ME, EVEN THOUGH I'VE GOT NOTHING OF ANY SUBSTANCE TO SAY, AND SOUND LIKE A RAVING, EGOTISTICAL LUNATIC! AND THEY'RE ACTUALLY PAYING ME TO SHOUT OUT MY HYSTERICAL DRIVEL! I'VE GOT THE WORLD ON A STRING!"

  14. I love that you all hate me so much. COuld you start a hate group? Geez, for someone so unimportant, I sure get a lot of press over here. Lots of comments, too. Do other non important, low rated has beens get that too? How kind of you. Keep it up, only bad press is no press at all.

Oh and the carpet was WONDERFUL. And no, you never know which shows are live VS tape, from behind the scenes, trust me. They could tape the night before, that day, Dr. Laura stages phone calls, or did, called them, she didn't TAKE callers. They TOOK the name and number and issue and called them BACK. Bet you didn't know that. Anyway, a lot left "behind the curtain." Be well, and keep hating. I LOVE the attention!

    1. Actually the blog post about you did not get many comments, it got the least comments than any recent post. Hell, the Melk Men post got way more comments than the one about you honey. I agree with Wayne's comment below about what one should do with your autograph. Your comments on Pat Thurston were pathetic. You think the NY comedian is better than Pat? Maybe your dizzy spells explain a lot...

  15. The only thing a Karel autograph is worth is a good, deep ass-wiping.

    Pathetic loser.
