KGO-TV VP/GM Burton on Demise of '7Live'

“We’re tremendously proud of everyone involved with ’7 Live’ and their terrific work that earned an Emmy Award and other recognition,-- “Unfortunately, ’7 Live’ was unable to build enough of an audience to justify the major financial commitment necessary to continue the show.”

Blunt enough?

  1. Well said. I appreciate when management is forthright and respectful.

  2. Classy of Copeland to leave Bermudez alone, today. Maybe that's why it seemed more watchable.

  3. As the mass KGO firings confirmed, Brian Dopeland is concerned only with himself. When it is his turn to be thrown out in his ass no one will shed a tear.

    1. 6:45 don't agree with you. Brian is a creative guy that has much to be admired. If you're in the TV and radio biz, you have to roll with the ups and downs, with the opportunities and rejections. KGO was unusual in the long term commitments they made to their talk show hosts and to the listening audience. I am not mad at him for keeping his job and we don't know if he is or is not in touch and supportive of those who were kicked out.

  4. Brian Copeland should never been hired by any of these stations, he just doesn't fit in. Keep it on stage and maybe you will last another week or so. Better yet, get a real job.

  5. Today Jim Dunbar's "AM San Francisco" on circle 7 would have the plug pulled at about this stage of its existence for not meeting the demo...

  6. The show was well produced and executed. People simply did not like it or the host. If any of us knew what worked, we would all be doing it.

  7. Janelle & Spencer's prior show was far better! Never should have been cancelled. TV and radio brass lack vision ... Shows need the opportunity to build an audience & grow. The old KGO radio mastered this ... The new KGO threw that loyal listening audience under the proverbial bus. That bone headed decision was the result of years of expensive higher education to be sure! There are many In the bay area who could buy KGO back ... It needs to happen!
