CCSNBA Insider Kate Longworth Sushi Dance with your Oakland A's in Japan

I'm trying to contain myself, but I can't.

This is your orgasmic Insider of the day gold standard variety that is must reading.

Kate Longworth, what would we do without you hangin' with the A's in Japan?

Pause for your first Tokyo exclu, straight from Kate:

Que the orchestra:

"I'm not going to lie: Kila Ka'aihue , Jonny Gomes and I did hit up a Starbucks, but in our defense we wanted to see if they were any different than those in the states."

Whoa, Nellie!

On Thursday, Kate will provide in depth coverage on Coco Crisp's infatuation with hamachi.

And an exclusive on Lew Wolff's frank talk about San Jose with some of Tokyo's most influential Geisha girls.

Groundbreaking stuff, only from the Katester.

  1. She is BY FAR the worst sports reporter in the Bay Area.

    2. What channel are you on? We'll be sure to tune in!

  2. Cut her some slack. You think anyone in the Bay Area wants to hear about the A's? Check TV, Radio and attendance numbers and you'll see why she isn't reporting about the team, no one cares.

  3. I had to watch a pirated internet stream to watch the game live this morning. Thanks Comcrap!

  5. Kate Longworth is a very nice, professional TV sportscaster.
No...she's no network quality...but she does a credible job covering the Raiders and A's, doing what she does. I know that Kate works a lot harder than many people in her profession do, and though she's probably never going to be any kind of a 'star' in TV sports, she's
about average for what she does.

So give the lady a break!

  6. Everyone got paid, except the customer- the Oakland A's fan. Wolff got a guranteed pay day from the sellout from the Ichiro crazies in Tokyo. the players got a $45K check. MLB PURPOSELY made the Bay Area have to suscribe (I didn't- I watched illegaly online) to the higher Comcast digital package to sneek a peek. All CSN California had to do was replicate what Seattle TV did- have Fosse & posse call the game from CSN studios while watching the game w/ natural sound. (this is the OPENING of the season for godsakes) They got paid to stay home in bed.
So I go back to what i said- everyone got paid...except the Oakland A's fan. Thank you Wolff. Thank you Selig. Thank you Comcrap.
Oh, I see MLB will be showing game #2 live @ 2am on MLB Net? Hmmm, I think I'll stay in bed this time. Enjoy.

  7. The ratings speak for themselves - nobody watches the A's.

  9. A's were reportedly greeted like "rock stars" in Japan.

So continue the snarks, all you ANONYMOUS trolls!

    1. This Lanie character is an apologist for incompetence. First she scolds people for calling Ronn Owens by his real last name Lowenstein, now she attacks people for calling out the weak ass A's. No doubt you'll soon defend Manny Ramirez and his shady past...

    2. At least Cheap Trick didn't need to use tarps to cover empty seats when they came home.

  10. Kate Longworth isn't that bad. I think the worst sideline reporter ever was Christine Nubla when she was the sideline reporter for the San Jose Earthquakes in 2008 for CSNCA. Nubla had no clue about soccer. The first soccer game she ever watched was probably her first day of work.

    1. I really don't see the point of knocking Kate Longworth. She does what everyone else in sports broadcasting is doing these days.

  11. You know who else is greeted like "rock stars" in Japan?

    Everybody else from the US.

There's a reason the phrase "big in Japan" is a joke amongst musicians.

  12. As a huge 40 year A's fan, I was pissed that the games were blacked out on TV. You wouldn't see that happen to the Giants if they played in Japan. Not only do my A's get no respect from MLB and Comcast, our carpet-baggers owners are the worst in the majors and need to sell this once proud franchise to locals who care ASAP!!

  13. I enjoyed her reports. Why? Because besides the blog/tweet posts and reports from the A's great beat reporters - Susan Slusser, Jane Lee, Joe Stiglich, hers was the only A's coverage. MLb couldn't bother to broadcast game one live. And the Giant fans who say no one cares, screw you and your arrogant trash.

  14. Wow...can you spell j-e-a-l -o-u-s-y? Just because you're rooting for a crappy team that virtually no one cares about (thanks Lou Wolff for alienating almost your entire fan base!) who have a bunch of non-entities who will probably be traded away for more faceless, vanilla prospects, when and if they ever start performing well, doesn't mean you have t o spew your vitriol. The Giants took their lumps for four years from 2005-2008 before finally striking pay dirt with a combination of great young pitchers and cast offs who found lightening in a bottle. They also happen to play in the most beautiful ballyard in America.

The A's on the other hand, play in the only stadium that also houses a football team, they tarp off the upper decks so that people of more modest means can't afford to buy tickets, they trade off any decent players they can and then Billy Bean 'The Genius,' ( yeah he really deserved a book and a movie about his exploits...they've never won a single playoff series under his watchful eye) trades away their only hope for contention by getting a bunch of unknown youngsters for proven talent
(Cahill, Gio Gonzalez and Andrew Bailey), and their owner bitches and moans about the uninhabitable ballpark they have to play in while also complaining that the Giants don't want to 'share' their territory. Plus they show their disdain for their fans by opening up the season in Japan of all places, and then not having the game shown live on local TV.

And here's a questions: Why should the Giants give up San Jose to the A's? t\There's a lot of corporate money down there that they can't afford to let the A's get their hands on.

The sad thing is, there are a number of communities who would love to have a major league club such as the A's, but none of them have adequate ballparks (Nashville, Sacramento, Portland,
and Buffalo to name a few), plus the commissioner of baseball doesn't want a team moving out one of the largest media markets in the country to one of the smallest. I feel sorry for A's fans.
They have to have an inferiority complex when you consider all of the talent they've traded and all of the good will the club has squandered in the bay area.
