Update: Gene Burns did not suffer a stroke; Bay Area Talker back on 'NewsTalk' 910 next week

There were reports posted that Bay Area broadcaster, Gene Burns, suffered a "mild stroke." He did not.

Burns, who has been in fragile health on and off the past year, has a medical condition, (which isn't known, but according to one of his assistants, nothing as serious as a stroke).

Furthermore, Burns is expected back next week to debut his show on "NewsTalk", 910 AM from 4-7 PM, (ex-KGOers are filling in this week).

Note: As I indicated Monday, here, I had heard that Burns suffered a medical condition, but out of privacy concerns and respect to Mr. Burns, I chose to keep the matter confidential. After reading a post, (that was incorrect, it turns out), I reluctantly posted the account. My sincerely apology to Mr. Burns. I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

  11. Hey 8:28 -- rich repeated what Pat Thurston and some of the posters here wrote, so quit blaming him. Gawd, you malcontents are tiresome. Don't you have some KGONE "news" to listen to?

  13. Good news about Gene Rich! I lost my mom to a stroke and seen what kind of damage a stroke can do though mom, a friend and of course Dick Clark. BTW I was listening to Dr. Bill today and could barely get 910 in Concord and Pittsburg. Lots of static. Yup I think KGO got up and went KGONE! How sad.

  14. Sometimes something can look like a stroke is happening and it isn't--and it isn't until further tests are done that it can be determined that it wasn't a stroke.

Even mattress man sort of sounded like he was having a stroke when he had his global amnesia episode a couple of years ago--and it was not a stroke either.

My best to you, Gene--be well soon!

Rich--I read your posts earlier--and you were very careful and cautious and respectful about saying what was wrong with Gene. And, you were the first place I came to find out what was happening! You are a great resource!

    Lighten up 5:31 PM!

  15. Let us pray for all who are sick. Yes Pat Thurston may have said something not factual but wishing her Pox does not help. Let us all wish everyone good health always. I pray that Gene's health recovers completely and he is on the air next week on 910 AM. I agree we all have differences. GOD bless all.
