KRON had a employee raffle for Christmas, and people could put their name into certain prizes to win them, like video games or a night in wine country. One of the "prizes" was a chance to have lunch with GM, Brian Greif, at any restaurant you wanted. That raffle had the fewest entries by far. Whenever he sneaks into the newsroom everybody avoids making eye contact.
Geez, I'm just shocked! Imagine.

The "Spend an Evening trapped inside an elevator with Darya Folsom" wasn't that popular either. Go figure!
ReplyDeleteConsiderably more popular was the "Climb Justine Waldman Expedition". However, the winner will have to supply their own Sherpa, ropes, parka, and can only establish a limited amount of base camps.
The highlight of the evening had to be the part where people guessed which one of George Rask's shirt buttons would pop under the strain. Despite reenforcing the old adage "It's all fun and games until you poke an eye out!", the winner of button #3 should enjoy his Carmel weekend prize after the surgery.
Also popular that evening were copies of "G-Rad Sings Hip-Hop", The Women of KRON Weather calendar, and the "Henry Tenenbaum Extreme Sports Challenge" DVD.
Also, for the kids, a chance to copy write an evening's broadcast and an opportunity to change the city names on the weather graphics to "Poo-Poo Land", "My House", and "Fart City".
To clarify: to the disappointment of many, Catherine Heenan and Pam Moore were NOT prizes during the raffle.
I'd rather have a colonoscopy from Darth Vader than any time with Brian Greif.
ReplyDeleteThe crew in the newsroom feels the same.
That isn't a very bright move. What if he got a hold of that box and made note of the names that weren't entered?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was only at a fast food place ... a drive-thru at that.
