Ex-KSFO Talkie Lee Rodgers on Officer Vic firing; Forget the Sussman spin

Lee Rodgers, the ex-KSFO talkie on the firing of "Officer Vic", (Tom Benner).

" The latest ambush at ABC's KSFO in San Francisco:
No matter what tale is put out on the air, the cold hard fact is that Officer Vic was fired without notice Friday after fourteen years.
Again, there is apparently an effort to camouflage the cold reality with a pastiche of lies."

  1. Officer Vic I'm sure has no problems with it. As a good Republican he doesn't believe in being entitled by his employer. After all-if he was worth his pay ,they would have kept him. You liberals want a cake as your shown the door?

    1. Yeah, everyone has no problem being fired, especially Republicans... it happens to them so much they're used to it.

  2. What is MY "shown the door?" 4:12? LMAO!

    Your...you're....big difference, sweetheart.

if liberal means a basic understanding of the English written word, count me in!

  3. 4:12 must be Suss-boy.
Yeah, Tom Benner is in Montana
    What an utter douchebag

  4. Hey asshole @ 4:12 pm Tom Benner is basically apolitical, he's a DJ/ production guy who was hired to so traffic reports, make a few jokes, take care of the commercials, run the show smoothly. If he was left to choose he'd probably rather be playing Johnny Cash records than listen to Sussman's amateur act.

  5. How does a "news" station think that we will believe a thing they say when they cover up everything that has to do with them? Bernie Ward, The December 1 massacre, Dr Dean, etc.

  6. I'm still unhappy about Carlo Prescott leaving KGO Saturdays...

  7. we all get too caught up in terms lib and conservative Vic was always a lightweight,
did not fit in with Sussman, that's aLL.
hE DID FIT IN WITH rODGERS AND mORGAN
    simple as that.

    1. You think Rodgers and Morgan are lightweight? The people who claimed murdering Muslim babies is OK because they're just future terrorists, and that all French women are whores?

Officer Vic (Tom Benner) was the only pro left at KSFO after they let Jim Eason and Lee Rodgers go. Some idiots let all the KGO/KSFO talent escape.

    1. Boy, are you right on with KSFO/KGO letting all (not most) of the real talent go and put in the cheaper group of 20-something year-olds. They are amateurs and do a rotten job as news people. Sussman is stale and needs to take a different way on his show. But who else can we listen to until later in the afternoon when we tune in to 910 am and hear Officer Vic, who really is a pro and funny too. KGO now brings in KGO tv weather and traffic people who could't tie the shoes of the long-employed guy, for traffic, whose name for the moment escapes me (senior minute). What a shame.

  9. I'll miss him in the mornings. He's twice as quick witted as Sussman and twice as funny.

  10. That show was horrible with O.V, I now expect SS-Man to be even more the borish.

  11. Officer Vic - what a misnomer - was out of his element when it came to giving the traffic or weather reports - I quit listening to KSFO sometime ago because of him - glad Melanie is back but big mistake losing Rush.

    1. Rush is on 910 am from 9 to 12 pm

  12. In terms of style, I liked Rodgers and I like Sussman. But they need the comedy relief provided by Officer Vic.

Sussman and OV made a good team. Melanie Morgan tends to take over. I hope Sussman won't fade into the background.

  13. Hey liberal mouth pieces, why must you spread such hate about a station(KSFO) you find so unimportant? Must be you feel threatened. I, for one, have enjoyed Lee, Mel, Vic, Rush and many others no longer on the air. I Look forward to hearing Mel once again. Remember kids, this is the radio business & those involved understand that.

  14. I don't listen much anymore! Suckmann is not that good. Definitely no Jee Rodgers!

  15. I work with Melanie on the activism front but I have little love for her on-air style. Nonetheless I think we'll see Sussman fade with her presence because if we hasn't been able to stand on his own by now it's not going to happen with a stronger personality as co-host. Unfortunately KSFO's future was cast in stone when management proved they didn't have the stones to stand behind Lee Rodgers' convictions and bringing Mel back on the air isn't sending the message to insiders that they've had a "change of heart" and are willing to return to the straight conservative track. The truth is, all station management cares about are the numbers and it was obvious they banked on the "Sussman overhead savings plan" to keep the show afloat after letting Lee go and Brian basically puked out. They needed a bigger bank account to attract Mel back to do damage control - so after paying for Katie the past many months, someone had to go. Exit Tom. I respect Tom as both a performer and as a conservative but the fact is I doubt he'll miss Sussman's gig very much. Mel will now have a more cost effective way of pitching her political efforts, at least until KSFO meets its inevitable fate. Which as far as I'm concerned isn't very far off in the distance.

  16. Tom Benner is much more an entertainer --and a very witty and very nimble one-- than the grassroots-conservative commentator Melanie Morgan is. Sussman will learn a lot from Morgan, and the two will do great, particularly without the continual and out of place chortling and guffawing by Benner. This is a crucial year for America's fate; we need solid grassroots-conservative commentators/analyzers much more than conservative entertainers, who, of course, have a role to paly, but not in a comment/analysis show one starts the day with.

  17. KSFO made a huge mistake bringing back Melanie Morgan and dumping OV and Rush. I used to listen to KSFO every morning but I really can't stand how Melanie tries to dominate the show. Her voice drives me nuts. I now listen to KNEW in the morning but still love Hannity and Levin and Coast to Coast a.m.

    2. Yes I agree. I miss OV, made the start of the day better. Liked listning to two guys cutting up. Mel is a bore, good activist, but not real bright.

  18. As far as I am concerned, no O.V. + no Rush = no KSFO before noon. brIan tends to be juvenile(i.e. his too frequent use of ridiculous nicknames); he also has a much overblown opinion of himself. VERY annoying! MElanie also thinks way too much of herself-- equally annoying! I only return to ksfo for Hannity & Levin. If I find them somewhere else at the same times, ksfo is out.

  19. I think it is a shame that "Officer Vic" was fired I actually enjoyed him. I liked Sussman at first but do not like him any longer and I actually do not listen to KSFO anymore. I am not that fond of Melody Morgan either. I thought Vic added an entertaining aspect to the show. If they dropped Rush I wonder where their heads are. I probably will not turn to KSFO on a regular basis any longer. What a shame I have listened for probably 15 to 20 years.

  20. Sussman needs to take a good hard look at himself. I do not like his nick names and the way he puts people down. I used to like the comic relief I will miss Rush, and Vic. Sussman if actually one reason I quit listening to KSFO.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Still miss Jim Eason and Lee Rodgers. Sussman has filled a void and OV kept the show entertaining. Nothing against Miss Morgan but she is a bit of a lap dog that Lee use to keep in check. Will miss OV and will listen to Bill Bennett in the a.m. to fill the slot.

  22. I hate the way KSFO fires people without telling the listeners where they went or that they are gone for good! First it was Lee, now OV!!!! And Rush?? Melanie is way too overbearing and seems to push Brian out of the way. I've been listening to KSFO since 1976....everything comes to an end. I even won a trip to Hawaii for having my bumper sticker spotted and called in within 56 minutes...too bad.

  23. It will soon be known as the Melanie Morgan show with Brian Sussman. She is a very overbearing personality and can't seem to stop talking. Losing OV was a big mistake! Fortunately we can still get the Fresno station here in the bay area so we haven't lost Rush at 9:00 AM.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Dang Melanie Morgan is loud, liked OV better. I agree it will soon be the Melanie Morgan show. Well i guess it's time to move on.....

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ugh, will miss OV. Found Rush on another station. Mel is much to LOUD for me in the morning and Suss talks the same game over and over.

  26. Melanie is welcomed back. I will miss Rush on KSFO but I can hear him from Sacramento. Officer Vic was a fixture who will be missed by many.

  27. BRING BACK OFFICER VIC !!!!!!!
the show is not the same without him.
My wife & I now rather listen to the Fresno station then S.F.'s KSFO.

  28. I quit listening when they fired Lee...

  29. I liked Jim Eason, Lee Rodgers and of course Officer Vic. They all had class. Now there is nothing to listen.

  30. Lee was the king. Melanie was too much about advocacy and Officer Vic was great for laughs with either of them. Sussman isn’t funny and couldn’t be even with OV’s help. I quit listening, for the most part when Lee left and altogether when OV left.

  31. Too bad that the KSFO program has gone sour. Can not stand Melanie. She drives me nuts. Very biased with out facts. Have listened to KSFO for 40 years. It is time to move on with the crowd. Goodby nasty mouth Melanie.

  32. While I feel there is a need for the conservative voice, I think Susman comes off whiney. I miss OV's whit and watch out for a wreck "Oooooooold Tunnel Rooooad" Kills me every time!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree - Lee Rodgers had a good rein on Melanie M. She worked well with Lee because of that. Now she is just annoying and pushy.
I like Brian and I felt he and Off. Vic made a good team together.
I'm afraid that program will lose in the end...

  34. My new schedule: Armstrong & Getty 6- 9a.m., Rush 9-12p.m. on KKSF 910. Also Glenn Beck is on 960 6-9a.m.,now station is named KNEW. Melanie Morgan tries to take over the show, she is so annoying. I wonder how happy Brian Sussman really is with the change.

  36. Whether or not O.V. fit with Suss, I totally enjoyed his incredibly quick whit and wide range of talent.

    1. I agree....OV helped make Sussman tolorable; M.Morgan is another Sussman...boring...Listen to Armstrong & Getty now.

  37. Glad e-one is on same page. I guess you all noticed she has changed her name to Mel Morgan. She is not a team player and suss hasnt the gonads to put melanie in her place and look who she is married to. yep soon to be "Mel in the Morning" just my opinion. she is too loud and too pushy. I would like to buy her for what she is worth and sell her for what she thinks she is worth. OV was a winner

  38. Never cared much for O.V. sorry seemed to me like a phony. Really miss lee rogers incredible quick wit and insights. hated to see him go. actually stopped listening once he left. Susskind reminds me of the kid in school who always got "pantsed". A want-a-be although seems like a nice and infmative guy. Hearing Melanie brings back memories of the old days.

  39. Loved Officer Vic -- brilliant guy and of course he and Lee Rodgers (greatest talk show host ever) were such a wonderful combination.
    Miss them both so much.
Don't care for Sussman, and now with Morgan back, who is extremely annoying -- phony laugh, weird mutterings -- don't listen to that show at all anymore.

  40. I am a dedicated listener to KSFO560, no matter how bad it gets. And it is pretty bad. I listen to it for about as long as it takes to turn off the radio alarm, about 10 seconds. At about 8 seconds its becomes boring.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I can't begin to describe how much I groaned when I heard Melanie Morgan was back on the air and OV was gone. Previous posts have nailed it: she's shrill, talks without thinking (i.e., no facts) and speaks as if she's got half-a-heat on. Clearly, she wouldn't be where she is without hubby in KSFO management. I'll continue to listen on weekends. Mel could learning something from Barbara Simpson.

  42. Sad to see Vic go only because I enjoyed him with Lee and Mel. I quit listening when Lee left as Vic and Sus together seemed to much like a beavis and buthead act with the constant demeaning of people and fake laughing. I am surprised that once I started listening to armsrong and getty I realy enjoy them. Sorry to see you go vic, remembering the good old days.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sad to see Officer Vic go; sad to see Lee Rodgers go; sad to see Rush go. I liked Brian Sussman better as a weatherman and that was a better and more honest side of him. His radio persona doesn't work for me.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Tom Benner aka "Officer Vic" is now doing news and traffic on 910AM in San Francisco during the Armstrong and Getty Show from 6 - 9am

    ReplyDelete
  45. It's good to hear Officer Vic on 910AM...though he's strictly business. I've started listing to Armstrong and Getty more, but not exclusively. Both shows can get on a whinney rampage.

I find that listening to Barbara Simpson's pod casts from her weekend show to be more fulfilling.

In my lifetime, nothing will surpass the Rodgers-Morgan-Brenner (OV) team.
