  1. Great info thus far on KSCO. Big Rich was plugged a few times! My only issue are all the gosh darned technical issues that statoon has man! What the hell!? KALX college radio runs smoother. Whenever this owner/dj dude is on there are issues and he always blames the equipment. Geez

  3. Ray T. is too much at times, quite comical, but way better than that canned crap RedEye show that replaced him.
    I do love them Sirs!!???

  4. Thanks to you Rich I got to listen to the great John Rothmann this afternoon. I cannot believe how wonderful it was to hear his voice! He said he will be at the Occupy KGO tomorrow.

    Thanks for keeping us updated.

  5. Keep up the tips. Everyone has their story, and this is mine.

My mother moved me and my brother to San Jose in 1969, from New York. Must have had something to do with the song. I was 13 years old. My mother listened to the talk shows, which meant I did as well. People mention Ira Blue. I sure remember that funy name as a kid.

Mom is long gone but I still listen to KGO for the talk shows. I am still in San Jose. There have been a lot of hosts over the years. I would even listen to the ones I did not agree with, because it was entertainment.

I happen to have a second house in Santa Cruz. I know there is a KSCO radio station because I would sometimes drive past it to get to the house. Don't remember if I ever listened to it.

I can't get a good KSCO signal in San Jose, so I listened over the internet the past week or so on my notebook. Older interview with Mark. Bill the past 2 days, and now John today. It will be Ray tomorrow.

I am 55 years old and I guess KGO no longer wants me. You have to be under 54 to count.

  6. The free market works. Maybe not the way you wish, but in the end it works.

  7. 3:19: we don't have a free market. Crony capitalism with all kinds of laws favoring corporations and Wall Street (not to mention the corrupt political/military cabal), and regulations, at least in this state, that stand in the way of many small businesses getting a foothold sure are not the trappings of free enterprise. Some regulation is required, of course, but in this country, regulations favor the larger entity over the small by far. Add favorable tax laws, etc., and you, with a straight face, say we have a free market? Really?

  8. By the way, 3:19, I am conservative, although I did enjoy listening to Gene and John and Len. Ronn is ok, at times, depending on subject, but it's baloney and mayo made for those who don't want their materialistic boats rocked. Ray would have been better had he given us more San Francisco history and less mania. Bill would be better if he could be a bit more patient and less-contemptible. Free market, my ass. What a bunch of bullshit. Free market. Some former Eastern bloc countries have freer markets than we do.

  9. A big shout out to MZ at KSCO! A place where KGO listeners and hosts still have a voice!

  10. I'm sure Ray T's response to being fired was, "No no, sir!!! You're not firing me!! I'm FIRING you!!!!"

I don't think Ray's schtick will fly long term on KSCO but it will be nice to hear his voice. Yes, more Ray talking history would be better. He might want to talk about the Monterey Jazz festival rather than insult the callers.

I missed Rothmann so I'll search for the podcast. Thanks, MZ.

  11. I have missed ray! I first heard him when i moved here for college, he spent many nights with me while i studied. Can i pick up this ksco station at stanford?

  12. It was great to hear Rothmann today on KSCO during the noon to 2:00 period. One uncomfortble moment is when the station owner got a little 'testy' with Rothmann after he (Rothmann) went on a little too much about how great KGO's signal was and how Mickey Luckoff is working on finding a new place for everyone.
At that point MZ quipped "what are we chopped liver?!" Kind of had me squirming in the chair a bit.

Good to hear John again at any rate,

  13. I can't wait to hear Ray tomorrow on KSCO! I think a lot of Ray's show was schtick- but it made him different and one of a kind. I've never heard an entire Ray show, but he kept me up way too late many, many nights. I loved his poetry nights, his music! His rants on religion and racism and stupid people - when Ray is good he is very, very good. There will never be another Ray.

  14. Ray just has the greatest, life-affirming values. That's my view; I know a lot of people don't see it that way. Plus, when I was up late doing schoolwork (the kind where I didn't need to think about it too much), Ray INVARIABLY made me laugh out loud - he just has this funny side that pops out at times. And for that, I'm just grateful!

And Ronn, if you're reading this - good luck Thursday morn! We want to hear you feel for us, and feel for those lost hosts. We were so attached to KGO, and it was yanked away so suddenly. We hope that you can express your understanding of this, apart from your own situation.

  15. Actually, KSCO is chopped liver. It is an obscure station based in Santa Cruz with a small audience. None of the KGO guys will be on there long.

  16. I thought you might like these: This morning on KRON-Radnich showed up on the set live with Daria, who he LOVES,and hadn't seen in person for years like his usual "loves" of aquaintances..So he's saying how he doesnt know any of the morning crew..then pulls a young female produce from behind the cameras and tells her that her might send her a Christmas card. She answers "I'm Jewish"..Radnich tells her "Oh,then that means in five years you'll own the building"..that's live and to somebody he doesn't know. Gee..Gary doesn't mind stereotyping people does he?
Then Rich, later on THEGAME,Brandon Teirney is talking about Raiders poor coaching "But,I'm not those type who asks people lose their jobs"..!!!..yeah THAT Tierney who trolls your blog trying to put you out of business-lol. No,he's not one of THOSE kind-lol..
    I just "love" phonys...
