Wattenburg debuts TRN show Saturday; Ex-KGO Talkie appears on Talk Radio Network; Will continue KSCO gig

Bill Wattenburg will do a nationally-syndicated hour-long talk show on Saturday, from 12-1 PM, via TRN, (Talk Radio Network).

Here's the link.

Wattenburg will continue to broadcast assorted show for KSCO, the Santa Cruz-based talkie that has considerable traction into San Jose, the Southbay, and Silicon Valley.

His first show drew so much buzz, both the station's switchboard and web site were overwhelmed and shut down numerous times.

  1. Bill just confirmed that Rothman and Burns will appear tomorrow from 10am to 12pm on KSCO

  2. I'd love to see if this Monterey / Carmel station could add a "repeater", or such, that stations can legally use to strenghten their signal, so that it could reach SF and the East Bay.

Does any radio veteran know if this is possible, in this situation? Thanks!

  3. This Cumulus vs KSCO drama reminds me of Jimmy Stewart (KSCO) vs big bad Mr. Potter (Cumulus).
    Very seasonal for the holidays.

  4. I live in Fremont and I can't pick up the signal. Does it stream on the Internet? I'd love to hear Gene.

  5. KQED uses repeaters so it's legal. Affordable to a small station is the big question

  6. Same syndicator as The Savage Nation. SAVAGE!

  7. I'm listening to Wattenburg right now on KSCO and he confirmend that tomorrow from 10:00 to noon Gene Burns and John Rothmann will be the station talking, the best news I've heard on the radio all week! Hopefully the servers won't be too overwhelmed for this welcomed and long awaited moment!

  8. great news!

I really cant stand listening to the fake black man anymore. There is zero substance to the program. It is like having non-fat milk instead of cream.

I bet that KGO ratings are gonna evaporate

  9. I don't see Dr. Bill in need of money, so I'm guessing that he just loves being on the radio periodically.

  11. The problem with Bill was you couldn't tell if you were listening to a show from 5 or 10 years ago...IT WAS ALWAYS THE SAME BS...

Bureaucratic nincompoops in Sacramento, gas prices, Sierra Club fat cats...blah blah blah it got soooo old I couldn't listen anymore. And I Bill and agreed with most of his views.

The real problem at KGO wasn't the talk format it was the talkers. Gil Gross? John Rothmann? Ray? please...they weren't good enough.

The only one that had any life in him was the old man Gene Burns and he was on the shelf 6 months at a time.

KGO threw the baby out with the bathwater. But don't tell me their talk show hosts didn't suck.

    They did.

  12. Talk Radio Network carries Michael Savage, who got his start on KGO. And who was Savage's biggest supporter and mentor while at KGO? You got it. Dr. Bill W. who will now join TRN.

  13. I don't know about a repeater but, with the internet and their web page, you can catch them streaming anywhere. Getting your computer to be your new radio isn't too hard with a set of speakers.

  14. A repeater can be put anywhere such as Mt. Diablo or any other high point.

  15. I live in San Francisco. A couple of days ago I tuned to KSCO 1080, and got KNBR (which is 680). It was at noon, and Damon Bruce was on, with all KNBR logos and IDs.

Could it be that the KSCO signal is so weak, here, that the much stronger 680 just automatically fills that void?

If some of the KGO hosts are going to show up there, even for a short time, I'd like to hear them.

  16. You need to get people in the media to condenm the A's ownership group who are selling off the A's best players! ALL I hear,Is "ah,shucks the A's are going "prospects" again". NO outrage-just team pawns and stooge's like Susan Slusser defending the A's group raping Oakland's baseball heritage.

  17. Dr. Bill definitely has a following, and I'm surprised that they didn't put him somewhere at KSFO. His politics fit right in, and his lack of knowledge on so many subjects that he talks about would make him a natural on KSFO.

  18. 7:42 you are a paranoid, partisan dog. Turds like you have no reasoning power. The Doc needed a platform to deliver his show so he choose TRN, it has little to do with Savage, you frigging moron.

  19. More: Lowell Cohns blog now requires posters to use Facebook. That should end the best sports blog posters group here in the bay area. YOU think I would use my real name where nuts can get my phone#,email, home adress? Or..employers who know to check the net for comments?..damn right they do and will fire and blacklist.
BANG is doing it also...and read the posts now.
"Hey! you live in Petaluma too?"..read one CohnZohn post.
    It's over..

  21. Anon @ 8:26: You probably got KTCT (aka "KNBR 1050") and not 680 - Damon Bruce has a noontime show there.

  23. “Occupy KGO” Thursday, Dec 15 from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Cumulus doesn't recognize how loyal KGO listeners have been & they don't think any of us have money. Well, let's us old codgers show the youngsters how a rally is really done. Let's all drive up in our Beamers wearing suits or our Sunday best. Maybe the bean-counters at Cumulus will understand!

If you liked the old KGO & KKGN, try streaming www.krxa.com , WPRR, KPHX WIBA, & others.
