Source: 'Green 960 AM' radio to be replaced by Conservative talk station; 910 AM to be relaunched as 'KKSF-AM-Conservative Hot Talk'

The universal grip of mostly conservative talk radio in the US has hit the Bay Area radio airwaves.

I've been told by a few industry people that KNEW is moving from 910 to 960, replacing the liberal Green station, (Green 960 AM).

910 AM will be relaunched as KKSF-AM - "Conservative Hot Talk", according to one source.

That would leave the Bay Area market without one commercial, progressive talk station. KGO Radio, (810 AM) is more centrist to right, and KSFO is an ultra-right outlet, (with Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin anchoring syndicated shows).

Green 960, which carries mostly progressive shows like Stephanie Miller, Alan Colmes, and Norman Goldman, is, ironically, owned by ClearChannel.

Clear Channel is one of the largest communications company and its radio division is largely conservative shows like the aforementioned Limbaugh.

It would be tough to imagine that the San Francisco market, the epicenter of blue-state politics and opinion, without one single progressive radio station.

Thank you FCC.

ADD: KQED-FM is considered a progressive station--I was referring to commercial radio outlets in the SF market.

  1. Blame the FCC, Looking for uncle sam to bail out the radio station market? How about some truth here. There's at least 3 "progressive" radio stations in the BA: Govt supported leftist KQED, government supported radical left KALW, and KGO who hardly has anyone conservative on the air. Then there's all the other stations where no one dares to say anything that's not 100% PC. And ALL the TV stations and newspapers that are 110% progressive.
Having no understanding of the economy you omitted the fact that no one was listening to 960 just as no one listened to Air America. So they lost money and failed. No one listens to commercial left wing radio. They don't need to with public radio cornering the market and the broadcast TV stations all PC.

    1. KPFA is the original progressive station in the SF Bay area and has a global perspective. The Green960 programming was focused on US politics and was really the only other progressive voice in the BAY Area. Some promote the myth that NPR stations KQED and KALW are "liberal radio" but clearly does not have a broader perspective. NPR has been demonized and attacked by the ultraconservative spokespersons to re-frame the discussion. The constant attacks have served to make these stations and the national network hypersensitive to the appearance of being "liberal" with the net result of moving the perspective to the conservative right. I think that Bill Moyers was the last true progressive on the public airways (PBS). He dared to challenge the popular news stories/myths and continued to do true investigative journalism until his retirement. As I view the spectrum the conservative end of the party has moved to the extreme right. I do believe that Richard Nixon and even Ronald Reagan would not fit into the center of the new neo-conservative spectrum since each of them promoted programs (environmental initiatives, increased taxes), that are antithetical to the current Republican platforms. On this current scale Dwight Eisenhower would be a communist liberal. Given that this is an election year I find it most curious that a small (limited power AM radio station) that served a most progressive demographic region of the nation has been dismantled and infused with the droning venom of the likes of Glen Beck. This smacks of political manipulation by those who benefit by silencing counterpoint to the "fair and balanced" news machine. Yes I listened to the progressive voices of Green960 and I think it is a great tragedy that our choices are further limited to a more narrow point of view.
That notorious liberal Dwight D. Eisenhower said, "Don't think you are going to conceal thoughts by concealing evidence that they ever existed."

    2. Political manipulation?? What do you think the entire gov bureaucracy being lib is? The reason lib radio fails is because advertisers spend money on stuff libs can't afford. You have heard ads for mortgages, right? Libs don't own, they rent. Without adult democrats, landlords would have to do something else for a living

  7. For some reason, conservative seems to work in talk radio, and -- as another commenter above observed -- liberal talk radio seems to be neither listenable nor commercially successful.

My own left-leaning politics aside -- in fact all politics aside -- there is good radio, and there's not-good radio. In attempting to respond to the success of conservative talk radio in America over the last few years, a whole lot of gawd-awful, unlistenable screechy and just plain painful radio has been produced and broadcast. It doesn't seem to be working.

Those of us in commercial radio need to pay attention to the extraordinary fact that KQED FM is the ratings leader now, and try to figure out why that is -- maybe it'll help us make some good, listenable radio that will succeed on its' merits, rather than because it is aligned with one side of the aisle or the other.

  8. KQED and NPR are corporatist right center, who in their right mind would think Exxon and Chevron would write them the checks they do if they were real progressives? Progressives want to dismantle the corporate power structure, but they can't get advertising to support tearing down the advertisers.
KALW is good at times, and you can catch the Monterey AM station over the web too.

  10. Those stations lie, cheat and exaggerate, just like those GOPers running for president.

    From the debates alone:
Africa is a country. In Libya, the Taliban reigns. Muslims are terrorists; most immigrants are criminal; all Occupy protesters are dirty. And women who feel sexually harassed -- well, they shouldn't make such a big deal about it.

Those listeners are the same fools who don't know that they did the bidding of 'big business' during all that tea party nonsense.

  11. I don't think Clear Channel was serious about the success of green 960. Choosing Korel over Ed Shultz is an example.Aside from KCBS, KGO, & KNBR
AM radio is useless. The market share for these
multiple conservative stations is going to be
microscopic. Perhaps it will be tax write off for
    Clear Channel.

  12. Obama should have fixed this mess by nationalizing radio. Then the good stations like KGO could re-hire all the people they let go. Green 960 could stay on the air. And KNBR would have the money to keep Ralph Barbieri, the only true progressive over there.

  13. welcome,welcome....I just love the radio-host show which goes by "BORDERS,LANGUAGE AND CULTURE". We need more of that.

  14. Hey, nothing personal. It's business.

Which is fine as long as the conservative stations get the hook too if their ratings are low. Maybe they'll go All-Spanish too since that is a growing demographic. And then Conservative Hot Talk can then get bumped for some Español, si?

And why not less government and eliminate the FCC? Less regulations. Less government. More local smaller stations centric to the area can battle it out for dial space. More stations in different languages, nationalities, agendas, and interests. That's the TRUE free market economy, right?

  26. Green 960 in its current form actually has some very listenable shows during the week with smart, talented people. What they dont have is a signal(or advertising). 960 reaches San Francisco and maybe Oakland? Progressive radio in general has not been financed or run well and until that changes the success rate will be low. Sad for the views that need to be heard that arent to the extreme. I think this is a loss.

  27. "It would be tough to imagine that the San Francisco market, the epicenter of blue-state politics and opinion, without one single progressive radio station. Thank you FCC."

Besides KPFA and KALW, Mr. Lieberman neglected to mention KPOO, all of which are reliably far left of center in their political commentary and seem popular enough. Then, there are the more mainstream center-left perspectives of KQED, KGO, and KCBS.

"Green 960" seems to have run up against the same problem as Air America: like a South Seas cargo cult, they tried to imitate what they *guessed* made conservative talk radio successful, but their guesses turned out to be wrong and they turned out programs that nobody wanted to listen to.

  28. Liberal talk shows fail because liberalism is not about ideas and political philosophy, but it is about emotions. Like sympathy, envy, jealousy. e.g. Class warfare/envy, the occupy movement. How long can you listen to raw emotion on the radio?

  29. There is a simple reason why conservative radio thrives while liberal radio fails, despite large infusions of cash - the media is saturated with left-leaning views, whether directly, indirectly, lying by omission, etc...

The media is leaving a huge void by ignoring a large market, which is filled by conservative, talk-radio.

The lack of balance by the MSM is why balanced cable shows thrive, and why conservative TV and Radio shows thrive, while liberal media continues to fail and bleed money.

Perhaps if the media focuses on balance and not pushing their agenda, as the media donates their political donations heavily to the Dems (Source: opensecrets.org, which compiles FEC campaign donations and no bias or ads) proves an inherent bias in the MSM to the left, as does the political donations of Journalists.

And according to Gallup, 40% of the US citizenry self-ID's as conservative, while just 19% self-ID as liberal.

The MSM is "catering" to the minority, while radio is "catering" to the majority, which is being ignored by the MSM

  33. Anon @ 11:16AM repeated the false myth that a conservative claimed "Africa is a Country"

Flat-out false and if you did a little research, you would have found that this was an internet hoax designed to discredit Sarah Palin, and even MSNBC, among other media, issued a retraction.

Yet Obama recently called Europe a Country, but somehow, the media failed to report his ignorant claim. (Lying by omission)

You can Google both of these examples, then post an apology if you like.

But you won't, because that would be admitting that you are basically what you accuse conservatives of being - ignorant.

The rest of your claims and generalizations are also without merit and easily disproved, but also proves my point about the MSM and how they lie by omission for Dems, yet push false stories to discredit Republicans.

I can fill this forum with examples from neutral, non-biased, non agenda-driven sources to further prove my point.

  34. And it's time to de-fund NPR and even PBS, as the latter was caught sharing their donor list with the DNC several years ago.

If they are contributing a service that is in demand, then they can sink or swim.

No taxpayer money is funding conservative radio or TV, yet some on the left want to bring back the "Fairness Doctrine", but want to apply it mainly to talk-radio, while giving the rest of the media a pass on the "Fairness Doctrine"

Talk radio doesn't operate under the pretense of being balanced, although it often is more balanced than the nightly news, which operates under the pretense of balance.

The "Fairness Doctrine" is nothing more than attempting to prop up failed ventures like "Air America" at the expense of successful ventures like conservative talk radio.

There is nothing "Fair" about it, especially the way the proponents want it applied.

  37. Basically, people like conservative, right wing radio because 'performers' (and they're not to be taken seriously, because that's what they are..performers who are looking for ratings and big bucks!) like Limbaugh, Hannity, Wattenberg and Brian Sussman like to simplify complex problems by offering a straight forward, but usually very unrealistic solution.

This country is in a big mess today, but too many of us want quick answers to the maladies that plague us. Many of us listen to commentators who do things such as objectify illegal immigrants or muslims, or laugh at "environmentalists who want to take away jobs andcripple the economy!"

They ignore the reasons why we really have a problem with much of the middle east hating us, (we've been an 'invader' there for the better part of 20 years), or why poor people from central america flood across the border to take jobs that Americans don't want (because American companies offer those jobs to them, and their own countries have been plundered by big business interests, some of those big business being American!).

Until Americans are willing to make an effort to accept slow, gradual change, not expect to own big, gas-guzzling cars, huge houses that suck up energy, and an unsustainable use of our natural resources...until we get away from the
"I want my gratification now, solve my problems now!" philosophy, we're going to continue to wallow in trouble.

Liberals and left leaning shows don't always try to offer solutions, because they're experienced enough (most of them... certainly not all!) to know that solving problems takes much time and study and judicious moves. Those that offer quick solutions to complex problems are doing so more out of blind faith than anything else, because quick solutions rarely work.

So the next time Limbaugh or Hannity demonize someone because of their political stripe, or make some statement such as "We should expand Guantonimo," we have to remember that these 'performers' are merely voicing the frustrations of a lot of angry Americans. This doesn't include a majority, but it does include a sizeable minority that once had a lot of power in this country. (Many of those hard-core middle class folks who have been bilked, cheated, and
thrown out of work). At the same time, many of our fellow citizens can't or won't take the time to try and understand why these deep-rooted problems or ours are complex, not simple! And it's also these Americans, (all of us to a degree) who are culpable for the mess we've made of our once beautiful home.

SHAME ON ALL OF US! IT'S TIME TO SHAPE US THIS COUNTRY! AND THE WAY TO DO THAT IS TO SEEK CHANGE THROUGH ALTERNATIVE MEANS:

A STEADY, DELIBERATE AND CLEAR-HEADED APPROACH THAT IS GEARED FOR THE LONG TERM, NOT JUST TOMORROW OR NEXT WEEK!

Interesting KGO got labelled "center-right" which is totally accurate, but rarely stated so clearly. Ronn Owens is a raging right winger in "moderate" drag. He never met an authority he didn't suck up to.

Of course KGO has Karel on weekend nights ... he's good in small doses but most of the time he's a jerk. I much preferred the brilliant Dr. Marty Nemko, who got fired when they brought Karel back.

No more 960 ... well truth is they're not very good. I don't like Phil Hartmann, I love Randi Rhodes, and other than those two I don't even know who else they have on.

  49. andrew-lazarus, the epitome of excuse making, blaming others and sitting around doing little or nothing is Barack Obama, who continually blames the GOP for his inability to perform his job duties. He lacks the experience and the ability to be President and demonstrated that fact numerous times.

He had filibuster proof control during his first two years in office and shoved an expensive bill thru the House and the Senate over a holiday weekend, then told the GOP "Too bad. We won."

Nancy Pelosi, arguably the dumbest person to hold the position of Speaker of the House made this incredulous statement: "We'll know what's in the bill once we pass it."

But he blames the GOP for his inability to pass a jobs bill. Something he had two plus years to do and has failed miserably.

And if any media is dying, it's left-leaning media.

And yes, the media is liberal, as evidenced by following the money as, according to the FEC, the MSM has given 70% of their campaign contributions to the Dems/DNC on average since 1990.

Even the parent company of Fox News, NewsCorp, gives more to the Dems than the GOP.

If the media wasn't biased left, FNC and Conservative talk radio wouldn't exist as there would not be a market for it.

This is the same reason why MSNBC gets such abysmal ratings and also why "progressive" talk radio bleeds money - the media market is already saturated with left leaning opinions and points of view.

Conservative media fills a void that is purposely left by the mainstream media, thus they thrive while the likes of "Air America" bleeds money and goes under despite large cash infusions, and why NPR needs to be subsidized with taxpayer money.

    ReplyDelete
  50. andrew-lazarus, yeah, conservatives do nothing but sit around and listen to talk radio all day while liberals are hard at work doing things like illegally occupying public places, camping out, beating drums, demanding free everything, impeding upon the rights of other people to freely move about with their own business, clash with police, vandalize businesses, urinate and defecate in the streets, and cost taxpayers 10's of Millions of dollars.

My bet is that a majority of the people picking up the tab for this two-month, infantile tantrum is being paid for by unemployed conservatives, seeking reinforcement of their flawed beliefs via talk-radio, not these hard-working OWS protesters chanting "We want free stuff" (paraphrasing) and beating drums all day, right?

  52. Andy G, how about occupying a job?

And for those that claim conservative talk-radio is dying, why is it the left-leaning radio shows are going under, why SFGate has become a Real Estate ad sprinkled with opinion articles that reinforce their political ideology?

According to Gallup, conservatives make up 40% of the US citizenry, while liberals make up 20% of the US citizenry.

Yet some claim it's the conservatives that are basically going to be extinct in a few years, and that "progressives" are basically the "99%" of the people.

Yet more inconvenient truths for those on the left. 10 years ago, they were claiming the oceans would rise and we would see miles of inland flooding. Yet Al Gore recently purchased a 9 Million dollar home near the beach.

And I'm still waiting for the impending Ice Age that was predicted in the mid-1970's, and was also claimed to be man-made because the Sun couldn't penetrate thru all the smog from cars and the dust from farming.

Let's just call it "climate change" to cover all of our bases and blame man for any and every weather anomoly, including the correlating temperature changes observed on Geostationary satellites orbiting 22,000 miles above the Earth in the Clarke belt.

The only other reasonable explanation is that the Sun doesn't burn at the same exact temperature for an indefinite period of time.

Even the Polar Caps on Mars are changing.

Must be all those Mars Cars heating up their planet as well.

  53. 'Alternative means' that I talked about earlier,
signifies an important change in the way we Americans need to live t o survive over the next
half a century. We need to modify our need to buy 'things we don't need,' support and buy only American goods, (stop shopping at big-box stores
that import crap from China and other third world countries).

We need to bite the bullet and live 'smaller.' President carter spoke of this back in the 1970s, and the conservatives didn't want to hear about it because it flew in the face of the Gordon Gecco 'Greed is good' mantra that took hold in the 1980s under President Reagan.

Now finally, 30 years alter, the bill has arrived and Americans are really upset. If they had been listening 30 years ago and had modified their child-like, avaricious behavior (buying bigger cars, bigger houses, and more things that they didn't need), instead of putting their efforts into making their communities better places to live...if they had looked at their homes as 'homes' and not 'piggy banks,' and their neighborhoods as really neighborhoods, not just as temporary places to live until they moved up to the next house in the next neighborhood...

WELL THEN PERHAPS WE WOULDN'T all BE IN THE MESS WE'RE CURRENTLY IN!

The day is coming when we'll stop funding losers such as NPR as well and they'll be gone, because without our tax money, they wouldn't exist. They wouldn't be begging so much for dinero if they could make it on programming alone. Let's be honest, talk radio exists because we Conservatives saved it and transformed it. Libs had ZERO to do with it. It pays for itself through commercials. It's the way things are done in America. If you don't like it, move to North Korea. Apparently, from a couple YouTube vids I saw, the Occutards think it's wonderful there!!! So go!!!!

  60. RED ALERT: San Francisco airwaves are under attack by conservative corporations. In a little while, we'll have absolutely no liberals on any AM stations. This doesn't feel like a democracy at all. Conservatives know that the best way to take over is through the media.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Wow, just reading these comments is amazing. What is it about one liberal radio station biting the dust that brings out the frothing vitriol? Taxpayer this, NPR that, on and on. The conservative talking points just fly! There seems to be a fixation on this issue of having even one liberal talk station daring to exist within the hard right airspace. It's as though the left should know better than to mess around in places where they're not wanted i.e talk radio is right wing territory and you had best stay out if you know what's good for you. We're screwed!

    ReplyDelete
  62. You right-wing blowhards make me sick. You bullies want everything for you, nothing for the rest of us who are tired of corporations and lobbyists plundering this country, corrupt politicians, and the massive upward transfer of wealth in the last 30 years. It's not that progressive radio doesn't have an audience, it's that companies like Clear Channel are making it vanish to suppress dissent. The air waves do not belong to the so-called conservatives, who are anything BUT conservative. They're toxic, hateful and unpatriotic extremists who were ready to allow our country to fail economically just for their own political gain. They were even investing in hedgefunds standing to gain large amounts of money in the bloodbath. We the 99% are under attack. All I get to hear now is propaganda.

  63. As usual, the left resorts to insults when their arguments crumble under the weight of the truth.

The Nazi reference is always a nice touch.

BTW, plenty of well-paying jobs in N Dakota due to the Bakken oil boom, and not just jobs in the "evil" oil industry either.

Out of work? Go to N Dakota and make 2-3x what you would make here, or keep complaining.

    Conservatives in the minority?

Check Gallup, as conservative outnumber liberals by a 2-1 margin.

Those are facts. You can Google them, or you can revert to name-calling and posting falsehoods.

Not one of you even bothered to address the fact that the media is saturated with left-leaning programming, which is why liberal radio fails, while conservative radio thrives.

The media is leaving a huge void, which conservative radio fills.

If liberal radio can't compete, why should taxpayer dollars subsidize them?

Would you feel that way if the shoe was on the other foot?

No. You would probably be protesting.

If liberal talk radio can't pull ratings or survive, it's their own fault.

And yes, NRP should be de-funded.

    Let them sink or swim.

If they move towards the center, they will swim.

If they remain left-leaning, they will sink.

The difference between the left and the right is that the right will defend free speech, even if they don't agree with it, while the left wants to boycott and shut down FNC, Rush Limbaugh and any other media that isn't left leaning.

I don't see conservatives organizing boycotts against MSNBC, yet the left wants FNC off of the air and has sent petitions to their advertisers.

The so-called "tolerant" are intolerant and prove it on a regular basis.

And I'm sorry you didn't prepare for your retirement and don't have a "Plan B", but if you worked for 40 years, you should have a nice nest egg built up in a 401k or similar, plus Social Security when you are 62

Sorry you didn't plan for the future and put yourself in a dire situation.

IDK why you didn't put away a mere 5% of your income in a retirement account over the last 40 years, or did you believe that the Dems would take care of you in your old age but looted SS instead?

  64. As for OWS, they have done nothing constructive.
They have been nothing but destructive.

Illegally camping for nearly 3 months and beating drums and making ridiculous demands has accomplished nothing.

Meanwhile, the Tea Party is getting people in office to start the fight against Crony Capitalism.

They are the game-changers, not the people demanding that other people support them because they have more money than they do.

And the "rich" pay more than their "fair share" of taxes.

    Look it up.

URL to a site that has the IRS figures of who pays how much:

    http://ntu.org/tax-basics/who-pays-income-taxes.html

  65. Andy G could find a job if he moved out of his tent and hit the pavement.

And as mentioned, their is a hiring boom in N Dakota where the pay is 2-3x what it is here.

    So what's stopping Andy G?

If I were unemployed, I would hitchhike to ND if I had to and get one of these jobs, like one guy from California did.

He was down to his last $12.00, hitched to ND, and is now clearing over $1,000 per week.

Fast Food places are starting people at $15.00 an hour, and numerous other businesses are also paying high wages.

Everyone has a choice and they are in the position that they are in due to the choices they made in life, like the guy who worked for 40 years and apparently didn't save for retirement.

Or Andy G, who would rather complain than get his rear and gear and go to where the Unemployment rate is 3.0% and the jobs are plentiful and well-paying.

And OWS should be protesting the enablers in DC, not Wall Street, but it's just an excuse to not work and party and hang out and avoid work, while demanding redistribution of "wealth" from people that worked for their money, not defecated in the streets and lounged around for months whining and complaining.

Everyone has choices. The choices you make will determine your quality of life.

Granted, a small percentage of people are victims of circumstances beyond their control, but the "99%" are just screwing themselves and their future.

    ReplyDelete
  66. If you are the "99%", then why can't left-talk radio draw an audience?

Because the media is saturated with left-leaning viewpoints.

Conservative talk radio is filling a huge void, thus they draw a much larger audience, even in SF

The theory that "It's not that progressive radio doesn't have an audience, it's that companies like Clear Channel are making it vanish to suppress dissent." is absurd and without merit or based on facts. It's just more excuses for the failure of the left to provide quality programming and putting another straw on the proverbial camel's back.

Fact: The media gives 70% of the campaign cash donations to the Dems/DNC

    Any inherent bias there?

Or the fact that 90% of Journalists do the same?

    No inherent bias there either?

The facts are, the only place where the average American isn't being subjected to a left-leaning point of view is radio, which is why conservative talk thrives while liberal talk can't draw flies as demonstrably proven numerous times.

How much money was infused into "Air America" which was a spectacular failure?

There isn't a market because the media is over-saturated with left-leaning viewpoints, which is why conservative programming always pulls better ratings.

Even "The Reilly Factor" nightly replay beats the highest rated MSNBC PrimeTime programming in ratings.

Or is that a "Clear Channel" conspiracy as well?

And NewsCorp, the parent company of FNC, gives more money to the Dems/DNC than the GOP

They are in the business of making money.

One way to do that is to find a void and fill it, which they have successfully done, despite the prediction of Ted Turner of CNN in 1997 or so, claiming FNC would fail within 6 months.

FNC gets better ratings than CNN and MSNBC combined.

Even a 5th grader could figure out why...

  67. Debunking Obama's false argument that the "rich" don't pay their "fair share" of taxes:

    http://ntu.org/tax-basics/who-pays-income-taxes.html

These number's come straight from the IRS

Keep bleeding the "rich" dry and watch as they close up shop and move their businesses and jobs out of the country.

BTW, why didn't GE pay a dime in taxes last year?

"The New York Times reported last month that General Electric earned $14.2 billion in international profits, including, $5.1 billion in the United States. Yet GE did not pay a dime in federal income taxes last year.

Oddly, President Obama chose GE Chairman and Chief Executive Jeffrey Immelt to head his President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness."

  68. As predicted, Obama just gave a short speech, demanded that the "rich" pay more in taxes because otherwise, the taxes on the middle class will go up.

As usual, Obama never gives details, numbers, facts or figures. Just vague, baseless claims, then refuses any questions and walks off.

    He won't, but I will:

    http://ntu.org/tax-basics/who-pays-income-taxes.html

Again, these numbers come straight from the IRS

This is not leadership, this is cowardice.

We don't have a tax problem, we have a spending problem, and Obama has spent our money like a drunken sailor on shore leave.

    ReplyDelete
  69. No one is conspiring to keep "left-talk" radio off of the airwaves.

They are dying off due to a lack of listeners.

Perhaps if programming was in demand they wouldn't be dying off, but as stated, the media leans left and is over-saturated with left-viewpoints.

That's why FNC beats both CNN and MSNBC combined.

18 of the top 20 media outlets lean left:

    http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/Media-Bias-Is-Real-Finds-UCLA-6664.aspx

90% of the top media outlets lean left, and the media is basically shutting out the 40% of people that self ID as conservative, while catering to the 21% that self ID as liberal according to Gallup:

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/120857/conservatives-single-largest-ideological-group.aspx

Yet people still can't figure out why liberal talk radio fails?

  70. Wow, you right wing conservatives have way too much time on your hands - go get an education...

  71. "Liberalism is a mental disorder"

All the proof you need is right here.

PS - Bachmann/Palin 2012 for the full liberal mental meltdown.

  72. This really pisses me off. The last thing we need is more Republicon lies and slime on our airwaves. Don't tell me there was no audience for progressive voices. Right-wing radio hosts are cowards and liars. At least progressive hosts like Thom Hartmann and Randi Rhodes, etc.. welcome people with differnt opinions, even move them to the top of the queue, because they can actually defend progressive values with keen intellects and provable facts to combat the lieas and distortions coming non-stop from the right. Shame on you Clear Channel! You are trying to silence the strongest voices who speak for the 99% ahead of this critical 2012 election. That is what we've come to expect from communications consolidation run by the 1% for the benefit of the 1%. People who aren't blinded by the right - Wake Up!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anon @ 7:29PM - I just gave you an education, including using facts and not personal insults and grade schools taunts.

Yet you are unable to respond to the FACTS in any other way.

And you still can't figure out why liberal talk radio fails.

I'm educated on the facts. OTOH, it appears you are not, otherwise you would provide a counter-point with facts and figures instead of being a victim of your own ignorance, intentional or otherwise.

Do some research, from a non-biased, non-agenda driven web site that compiles campaign distributions from the FEC:

    www.opensecrets.org.

And anyone knows Obama is lying when he says the "rich" don't pay their "fair share" when he has been proven wrong, yet perception = reality and most people are too intellectually lazy to look up basic FACTS:

    http://ntu.org/tax-basics/who-pays-income-taxes.html

Us conservatives are educated. That's why we run circles around you in debates, while you spout childish insults.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Thom Hartmann to be replaced by Glenn Beck??!??? From the sublime to the ridiculous. An appalling decision to replace Green 960 with Fox News. And the rightwing vitriol... is one little liberal radio station too much for your view of "democracy"? I would have hoped not.

    ReplyDelete
  76. It is a myth that radio listeners do not want to hear progressive stations. Advertisers have boycotted progressive stations. When Air America was on ABC stations, over 90 advertisers said they did not want their commercials on their stations, including, HP, Microsoft, McDonalds, Wal-Mart, Visa, etc. (see http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/06/business/media/06air.html)

According to Randi Rhodes, progressive talk shows are put on less powerful stations. For example, when I travel a few miles from house in El Sobrante, I can no longer hear Green 960 clearly; this is not the case with other stations.

There is the clear intention of radio corporations and other corporations to suppress progressive radio.

Thom Hartmann, Bill Press, and Randi Rhodes are far more fair and far more listenable than almost any right wing station. Thom Hartmann almost every day has a prominent conservative debate with him--Right Wing stations filter out all liberal callers.

  77. Very sad that Clear Channel, who owns 300 radio stations,so much for freedom of the press, and media would dump good progressive programming to put racist pigs like Glen Beck, and Rush Limbaugh.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Clear channel is shutting out progressive talk shows here in the bay area. Do the really think we would listen to Glen Beck here in SF. NO WAY. I was a long time loyal listener, but no longer. I refuse to listen to the rants of Beck. I will no longer be a listener to this station. A lot of people I talk to about this agree with me, and will also be boycotting this change in programming. This is a Hugh mistake. BRING STEPHANI BACK !!!!!!
