Thank you for your comments regarding KGO-AM changing format.  We recognize that this change has affected many listeners like you.  KGO’s senior management has assured us that they are committed to making the station better.  While we do not have control over KGO’s decision, we still support Ronn Owens, Jon Bristo and Jennifer Jones Lee and want them to succeed under the new format.  We are forwarding your feedback to KGO’s senior management in the hope that it’s incorporated into their programming decisions.  We appreciate your support and wish you the best this Holiday season.

Sincerely,

George Trent
Customer Service Manager

**Not surprising that Sleeptrain is staying on board as they are tied into Ronn Owens in a unique KGO/business relationship. For the time being.

Never the less if you want deluge them with your feelings, contact Mr. Trent...

Of course several longtime KGO advertisers, including Just Remnants, Burgermeister, New Pane, CCrane have pulled their ads. The Shane Company is seriously considering dropping their account, as are others.

  1. This is good to know as I am actually going mattress shopping tomorrow. Of course last time I went to Sleep Train (because of KGO) their delivery people brought the wrong box spring and when they replaced it left wrapping and crap all over. So I probably wasn't going to patronize them anyway...

  2. If Stephen Moskowitz pulled his ads, that would be a big statement.

  3. Rich- as a regular reader of your blog, I distinctly remember you wrote that Steve Moskowitz spends six figures in advertising, much of it on KGO and KSFO. I am curious as to any reaction from him and whether there is any effort to convince him to pull back. Keep up the good work!

  6. Sleep Trains stance on Boycott KGO and my reply.

    My reply:

    George Trent,
Supporting Ronn Owens Jon Bristo and Jenifer Jones Lee is supporting KGO, sorry to hear, thousands of ethical listeners are hoping KGO fails. Bad decision I will forward you stance to websites dedicated to the boycott of KGO and their sponsors, do you really thing that forwarding my feedback will undo what KGO has done? You can't appreciate my support because you do not have it because of your decision to support Cumulus media that destroyed KGO, a radio station that was sacred to the Bay Area. I wish KGO and anybody that supports them the worst possible Holiday season and financial failure. Since your in the loop with KGO's "senior" management, you might want to inform them they can't make the station better unless the hire back the great talk show hosts they fired. Ron Owens, Jon Bristo and Jennifer Jones Lee are not in the same league as John Rothman, Len Tillum, Ray Talliaferro, Gene Burns and Bill Wattenburg.

  7. This is the best way to get Ronnnnn's attention, which is his wallet! He does not seem to care that his "family" was fired and his listeners walked, but when his advertisers leave his show, well, this could get very interesting.

  8. I got the same form letter from Mr. Trent.

  9. I admire the community work that Sleep Train does, with respect to the support of Foster Children program. And, I enjoy shopping for the clothes, shoes, back-to-school needs and toys for their seasonal promotions.

Yesterday, I took my toy contributions to a Sleep Train, and told them that ... with all due respect ... I regret that I am going to find another avenue for support of the program.

Everything was very civil, and the manager graciously told me that she would communicate my comments to higher management.

I am sorry that I had to take that step. But, it's vital that the advertisers know how deep our feelings go.

  10. Yeah, they'll support Ronn, etc. until the next Arbitrons come in, then not so much.

  11. Great, I am looking for a mattress now, and WILL NOT be going to the train

  12. Mr. Lieberman, you will win a Bloggie for this! Your reporting is epic! Great work..

  13. Love your website, Rich, Keep up the great work.

Has anyone noticed that KGO and KSFO have identical websites? Talk about the height of arrogance!

  14. I'll got to Mancini's for my next mattress. Ronn's guests doing the Sleep Train commercials is just plain tacky anyways. Overrated egomaniac Ronn would shill snow cones in Antarctica!
BTW, good job Rich. Love the blog and keep up the good work! :)

  15. Is there any chance on God's green earth, that these hosts could end up at KSCO??? really, is there? KSCO already has programing; hope they don't knock off Coast to Coast with george Noory.

  16. Annie M, Look at WABC in New York. Same website. Probably hundreds of others around the country, too.

  17. I listen to the ads and write down the names and send a letter of concern. And I am disappointed if they continue to support KGO810. I love it I thought I was the only one "Overrated egomaniac Ronn" a legend in his own mind. KGO and KSFO are owned by the same company go figure. Its all about marketing...

  18. I'm glad I can cross Choo-Choo off my list of companies...

  19. Thanks for the tip on boycotting Sleeptrain and other advertisers. I was in the Emeryville store yesterday pricing a new set for my 17-year old son. Now, i will gladly buy elsewhere even if it cost more money. Let's all write to Moskowitz and tell him what we think of his support of KGO.
