Just a damn media blog; I don't need your adulation; the local media Tea-Party schlum

As usual the brave hearts who coward and hide behind their PC have been doing a lot of talking. They tend to talk more bravado when under the protection of secrecy and anonymous status. Kind of funny actually.

Look, this isn't for everybody. You can like it, love it, hate it, despise it, whatever, but considering how much it cost you to get in, take notice. It's not special, just occasional information and gossip intended for fun, sometimes serious, sometimes for more formal notice and even a scoop or two.

I don't ask, nor need your adulation. That's not the idea. If you're looking for lovey-dovey and a chance to ride me, go ahead, make my day. But seriously, this is what it is, nothing more, nothing less.

Sure, I take shots. Love it. Not jealous. Not angry. No issues, just opinions. At least I man up and put my name behind every shot. Far from the lizards who take shots without ID'ing themselves, true cowards.

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?

You read it. You just can't wait. You can't help yourself. Even the putz in the morning at Knibber, RadUNich, the anointed one, the asshole who has enough baggage to fill the Oakland Arena. And a tea-party ass himself--the guy who spouts conservative values and is anti-union and is more insecure than I am.

YOU KNOW WHAT?

I rip him  because no one else has the balls to--he's reached his limit and will be lost in the corporate shuffle pretty soon. No media wag in this market will say it--they're afraid, not me. So there.

And one day soon, I'll say more. The demons inside my body are itching.

  1. Hey Rich...love it when you wake up in the morning and your first blog is full of piss and vinegar! Keep rattling those cages!
The problem with a lot of your detractors is that they either haven't been paying attention to the deterioration of the media in recent years, or they've got their their i-pods and their smart-phones so far up their a...holes that they can't see straight.
It's a shame how so many people today have sold out to corporate interests. Many young people today are so naive and have so little historical perspective that they seem to think that this is the way America has always been. These are the same kind of airheads who refer to anytime before they were born as 'back in the day,' because they can't distinguish 1970 from 1950.
I think if many of us us who grew up in earlier times knew some of the things ahead of time that were going to happen, we would have cringed. Of course, the Republicans, big business, and the bottom line scum-suckers would have been thrilled because their heroes are people like robber barons JP Morgan, Andrew Carnegie, Jay Gould, and Cornelius Vanderbilt (his most infamous quote "the public be damned," kind of sounds like Lou Dickey!), or more recently, mythical characters such as Gordon Gecko, the chief character in the two Oliver Stone Wall Street movies.
And please don't give me all of this crap about how things are so much better now that we have the internet. People have been conditioned to have a limited attention span because of an inability to sit still and pay attention for more than five minutes to one thing. I think this is why texting is so popular..people today don't even use their cell phones to make phone calls very often anymore. They could actually have a conversation but they would rather communicate in little snatches of abbreviated sentences punctuated by misspelled and hyphenated words. Since there is so much instant information now instantly available (and I might add that much of it is just speculation, rumor and innuendo...but that is unfortunately the direction that journalism is now headed,) people have little patience and little time for civil discourse.
On another matter, I have a simple question: If the media is as 'liberal' as many conservatives say it is, then why are there so many Sussmans, Hannitys, Limbaughs, and Savages on the air and so few folks with liberal political leanings? Why is that? Is is because the majority of Americans prefer to listen to bloviating blowhards like Limbaugh and Hannity because they're 'entertaining?' Or are the majority of Americans really behind the inane spoutings of nit-wits and fools like Michel Bachman and Mitt Romney (who like to refute the
findings of scientists because it justifies our savaging of the planet).
Interesting questions to ponder. American right now reminds me of some poor, unaware slob, crossing a busy street staring at a cell phone screen, texting some 'friend,' completely unaware that an impatient cab driver who is barreling down the street at 40 miles an hour, heading straight for a collision with that foolish soul because neither one is paying any attention!

  2. Since you brought it up, why did Gary change his name to start his career in the media? He was born Radunich. I could understand a change for a more common (say Richards) but dropping a vowel? Why bother?

  3. Man...you are WAAAAYYY too angry, dude. I think some therapy is in order.

  4. Right on Rich!..look how Raddy retold 2005. No blame to Agnew,Salvatore...he even makes it sound as if Alou MADE KNBR attack him. And Kreuger claims he's "Taking the high road" by letting Radnich slander Felipe, while he sits there grinning like the cat that ate the canary. And where IS Monte Poole or Kawakami? why aren't they speaking out?..oh yeah, they are in the back pocket of KNBR/Comcast.
And Steven-I wonder why Raddy had his capped teeth removed? he's now got his old gaped and crooked teeth..Rich once posted a youtube of Raddy's days in Sacramento with perfect teeth. He's not vain? Why then the hair plugs?
You know what I think? I think in Radnich's mind the gap teeth make him more urban. Right?
    signed,

  5. Another day, another Lieberman assault on Radnich.

Why? Because he has "has enough baggage to fill the Oakland Arena" - yeah that makes sense!

  6. @10:24AM You described one station. All those hosts. ONE.

  8. Even the late, great Herb Caen wrote about prowlin' Raddy.

  9. Oh, that's a low blow, even for you CHUM! What did dear old Raddy do to you to make you so upset!
Leave the guy alone! He'll be gone in a couple of years anyway...they'll fire his ....just like they fired everyone else who was making too much coin...so let him enjoy his last moments as a big-wig on the radio with a little dignity!

  10. Lieberman is claiming Radnich is "a tea-party ass."

    First of all, so what.
Second is there any proof whatsoever? I listen all the time and haven't heard a whiff of that. Third of all, isn't this McCarthyism when you make an outlandish, unsubstantiated claim about someone?

  11. I spent many years in the "below the line" portion of the entertainment world with a major in records and a minor in TV and while I can't vouch for the particular incidents written about in the blog I CAN vouch for the tone and general management style of the business. Rich is right on about that.
    Boy, do I have stories...
I normally sign my posts but maybe not if this goes further.

  12. As I've said before, if there were another blog that regularly covered the local media, I'd leave in a heartbeat. Sadly, you're the only one even reporting on a lot of the stuff that goes on, although it's getting harder and harder to weed through the crap to find the little nuggets of actual, worthwhile information.

I don't really care if you like, hate, or feel indifferent about certain entities. I'm sure there are some people who come in here just to view the train wreck, rather than try to get some info, so if that's what helps you get AdSense money from Google or whomever, more power to you.

As far as your desire to flip the bird to all your 'haters,' I get it. You don't think you owe anyone anything. You're right. You don't. But no one owes you anything, either. If you feel like you want to take another whizz on Radnich, KRON, KNBR, KGO, etc.. that's your prerogative. But stop bitching about people bitching if you want to take that prerogative. They have as much right to rip you for being stuck on repeat as you do for finding these media outlets so indigestible.

I know you won't take the constructive part of my criticism to heart. You seem intent on acting as curmudgeonly as you can when it comes to the local media, repeatedly harkening back to the good old days.

Truth is, I tend to agree that there are aspects of the recent media trend that are bothersome, but I'd rather have an actual intelligent discussion about it. Reading "this douchebag did this" and "what a freaking pansy so and so is" doesn't give me any reason to believe you're actually capable of having such a discussion.

  13. Oh please Rich spare us the "everyone hates me" BS. You know you love all the attention you get.

  14. No wonder Brandon Teirney challenges you to fights and dogs you Rich-He's a big arch conservative. He calls the near evangelical Tim Tebow a great American-lol. Eric Davis agreed-lol,E.D. has money ala Barkley-so screw African American social issues..HE'S got money. Problems solved!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hilarious that Teirney and Krueger are more of those arch conservative sports hosts who have been fired for flaming on air..Facists who love thinking their hate has a point.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Too many yowling, bloviating fools and know-it-alls on both KNBR and 'the Game."
I'm not a big fan of 'the game', as Tierney is a annnoying, obnoxious know-it-all who comes in from NYC and acts as if he knows what's going on
here in the bay area. Eric Davis is at least listenable, but he has to pander constantly to Tierney's annoying arrogance.
Meanwhile KNBR had the audacity the other day to promote the fact that they had broken the story about the signing of QB Carson Palmer. To back up this outlandish claim, they played a highlight of the annoying Kate Scott obviously reading some wire copy off the internet during an update. That's breaking a story?! That's reporting? Give me a break! Speaking of the 'Sports leader,' I haven't seen their mike flag at a single news conference or locker room shot whenever there's a TV interview on the local outlets. And when the Raiders held their press conference with Carson Palmer the other day I was watching on Comcast Sportsnet and heard representatives from all of the local TV and cable TV outlets, the newsapapers, and even 'The Game,' but KNBR, the supposed 'sports leader' didn't have a single host or reporter at the event. Evidently Lee Hammer believes it's not necessary for KNBR to cover either the Raiders or A's. I guess this is because both those teams' games are carried on other stations, so the powers that be at KNBR feel they only need to pump up the Giants, 49ers and Warriors, because they're carrying their broadcasts. That's full and complete sports coverage? America's number one sports station?
I THINK NOT! KNBR is definately not 'the sports leader' and hasn't been for some time.
Their credibility has quickly gone into the toilet since Cumulus took over, downsizing their operation and replacing quality reporters in John Shrader and Bruce McGowan with traffic people who double up as sports update people. And occasionally they even let interns do the updates! Oh, and lest I forget, this is the station that gave some guy named 'P-Con,' (one of KNBR's producers, his own show. The guy sounds like some babbling drunk that you'd meet in a bar!
But 'The Game'is not a whole lot better. They have a way to go before catching KNBR, as they're off to a slow start by hiring mediocre out of town talent. I will say this for the game however; at least they're covering events and actually talking about sports. Whenever I listen to Gary or Ralph or the brown-nosing Fitzie, I hear constant references to rap music, junk TV, and silly little stories that have nothing to do with sports. Wouldn't it be nice if Cumulus went belly-up and some company that had a commitment to delivering quality radio sports actually bought KNBR and gave Norther California what it deserves? They have a 50,000 watt signal that is being wasted, and they are regarded as a joke by many of the knowledgable sports fans in the area. I know of very few people who have either the patience or the stomach to listen to their juvenile treacle anymore!
    What a joke!

  18. 8:46 am- Jesus, get your own blog. Nobody is interested in your Unabomber like manifesto on sports media. Get some meds!Between this raving lunatic, and the dolt serial poster here who blames everything which is wrong with his pathetic life on Right Wing/Conservatives", it makes Rich seem almost normal. I said almost, of course the bloggers issues could fill a telephone book.

It looked as if she was wearing nothing but orange spray paint. And I can tell you-she and Darya are in a boobs proliferation race. They are bigger by the months.. Justine also is in on it. And with plunging necklines, Its an all out war of breasts at KRON!.

  22. @5:36 Fascism, we have that with Obama. Fascism is where the government controls business. They are privately owned, but they are controlled by a central government. We got that when Bush/Obama bailed out GM, then Obama fired the CEO. For no reason, because he could... Obamacare will control the health industry forever- hence fascism... And with Dodd-Frank, the government is controlling banking...Etc., etc...Get it? Fascism isn't "conservative" thinking...It's what we have right now! Pick up a book and do reading. Then give us an informed opinion.

  23. You sometimes pull stuff out of nowhere, but you are an opinion blog not a news/information blog so as long as everyone understands that it's not an issue. On the other hand you have never once not posted a correction I've made to comments about things I've actually observed being on the inside from an undisclosed location. Keep it up! We need a good place to vent about local journalism and all of us that work in this business have big egos or we would have run screaming away from the heat years ago!
