Fitz; Moneyball; 'The Game'; Sports anchors turn to news; Raiders/Cumulus relationship?

*How detested is Rudy? Supposedly, even his "potna", Brooks doesn't care for him, but does the radio show to get a paycheck. (Which is only fair).

Fitz, like I said a few weeks back, is on the clock. The Warriors ownership hierarchy, still surveying the scene over in Oakland, have other higher things on the pay grade, but are aware of how many of you Warriors followers have thorough disdain for giggles.

Be advised that that the powers that be may yet make a move, but these things take time.

*"Moneyball review: good movie. And for all the bad pub about Phillip Seymour-Hoffman's portrayal of Art Howe? Who the hell cares--IT'S A MOVIE!

*95.7 'The Game' Update: If their various tonsils were as sensitive on the air as they are here in my pad, then they'd have a good radio station. Again, guys, before you begin firing salvos, get to know the market.

*Mark Ibanez, Larry Beil and Raj Mathai have all detoured from sports to news here in this market. It's happening elsewhere in other markets too. Call it local TV news multi-tasking and a state of the business, but it's a trend that continues to grow.

*Could the Raiders end up on a KNBR station next year? Stay tuned.

*Randy Hahn, Ken Korach, Ted Robinson--the rest are dust.

  1. Korach just signed a three year deal-so I dont get the "dust" meaning. Hahn? eh..hockey,who cares? Robinson...just terrible pipes. Do the 49ers want some future historic play called for eternity by Ted's screachy voice?
It didnt take 95.7 long to cause the KNBR flagship to sprout leaks did it? A wonder why no other company couldnt have done the same years ago.
To hear Radnich go all liberal today on gays..the same guy who over a year ago was like a 10 year old cackling at "Roman GAY-briel,Ray,GAY- briel, you know what I mean?" He now see's the light. What next, Pecon at a gay pride event?,shows up at KNBR in a rainbow t-shirt?

  2. Gee, even Rod doesn't like numbnuts. Man, I would have never guessed that one in a million years.

And all this time I thought it was me who didn't like Rudy.

  3. Papa destroys "Peter Brady voiced Robinson" all day. No contest.

  4. How can KNBR take on the Niners and Raiders? They just extended their contract with the Niners to include segments on 107.7 to off-set the Game. Is there something that would prevent the Raiders from going to the Game?

  5. 10 years ago the Raiders were on 1050 without there ever being any Raider talk on 680 at the time. In theory (and depending on language in their deal with the Niners) it could happen if KNBR is trying to protect themselves further.

  6. this is all well and good, but what does it have to do with hating on Ralph?

  7. Mathai, Ibanez, Biel... I notice you critique none of them. Is this because they're all over 40 and not blonde, oh, and not women?
You seem to have a real problem when local talent gets rid of overpaid Sinkovitz types in lieu of (as you put it) Blondiful people, yet, when your sports cronies turn into anchor tonsils, you just tell us to "accept it." You criticize Ms Wenger on CBS5 - and she jumps from traffic to anchor. So what gives, Mr Media? Personally, I trust Larry Biel and Raj Mathai giving me breaking news information as much as I trust Barry Zito to throw a no-hitter.

  8. No Rich, Phillip Seymour-Hoffman may seem slim & svelte to you, but to the rest of us he's nothing more than a degenerate fatty. He could have played you as a loud mouth hot dog vendor though.

Art Howe has a right to be pissed about the casting, and the b.s. angle that Howe was a bad guy. I just hope this movie and more hype on Beane exposes the a-- hole as a baseball fraud.

  9. I really like Papa, EXCEPT for his long drawn-out Touchdown Raiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiders yell. It reminds me of something that big fat blow-hard slob & buffoon Chris Berman would say if he announced Oakland games.

  10. We love it when you rip opn 'BOBBY FITZ' as Tony Salvadore liked to call him . Fitz did everything he could to suck up to Salvadore, himself a disengenous blowhard who had no couth and treated Bob Agnew(the best thing that KNBR ever had, even with his inflated ego) like he was his little bitch-boy.

But 'Giggles' as Rich likes to call him (great nickname you've given this dweeb Rich!) sucked up big-time to Salvadore from the moment Fitzie first stepped into the doors at KNBR, and in short order he went from weekend host to sportsphone host, to Warriors back up radio announcer before he daggered Greg Papa in 1997.
Giggles had plenty of help in that infamous move from sleazy agent Martin Mandel and the inept Robin Baggett of the Warriors. The result has been 15 years of having to listen to his drivel on the Warriors TV. The only good thing has been that the team has absolutely sucked with the excpetion of a year or two, so most of us don't have to listen to this blowhard Warriors mouthpiece constantly making excuses for a lousy club. What a miserable excuse for a broadcaster this insecure, insincere, and arrogant prick is!

  11. "Moneyball" is the baseball equivalent of "JFK;" it looks real but is fiction and borderline libelous.
