Chronicle's Knapp hits paydirt on Raiders-49ers Fan Mayhem; calls out SF too

I've often stated that for my money, the Chronicle has two of the finest columnists in the Bay Area. One is the always edgy Scott Ostler and the other is Gwen Knapp.

Knapp, in a short piece on SFGate delivers a pretty good and timely gem, essentially acing out the idea that it was 'Raider Fan' and Oakland that was at the forefront of all the ugliness that took place Saturday night at Candlestick. Not so, says Knapp.

I agree with her piece.

I have been to several pro football games as a press guy and/or fan at both Candlestick and the Oakland Coliseum. Both franchises have their fair share of a-holes that, frankly, shouldn't be allowed to attend. They're one-timers who, at the luxury of having the chance to get tickets to a pre-season game that many season-ticket holders choose not to go to, end up with seats, either freebies or purchased on the cheap on Craigslist or other ticket sites.

Moreover, they act like thugs. Wannabee gangsters that just cause trouble. And they were in SF the other night--not Oakland.

  1. Not a big fan of Gwen, but a good article. There are videos THAT SHOW 49ER FANS BEING VIOLENT and still, Raider fans are to blame. Pathetic.

  5. So now they are going to cancel the game. Happens every time, a few punks break the law and we all get punished. No tailgating after 9er games. Even the NFL is a bunch of wussies.

The answer. Double the security, lots of police, lots of goons and bouncers hired for security instead of grandpa, for next year's game. Double fines and jail time for the perps. Just like a construction zone.
