And people wonder why terrestrial radio is so byzantine.
The "big news" over the weekend was that Daffy Duck got recruited to leave Knibber and go over to the new FM sports station. Mundane? Irrelevent? Yes, to the umpteenth degree. They were so upset at Knibber that they barely mentioned it.
And his highness at 9-Noon was so despondent he gave his beloved "star" a five-second "good luck." Even the ex-marine who screens for mail-it-in was so brown-toilet-pappered, he couldn't utter a word. Maybe he got orders from the hammer not to say anything. As if saying anything would mean anything anyway because, talk about a zero on all fronts.
The dibber is a non-entity. He's got a goofey voice and he talks. About nothing. The new kid in town, with a guy who runs the place who used to work at knibber decided that Daffy was worth 10 bucks and therefore made a pitch. Daffey, knowing that his "career" at Cumulus amounted to getting up at 4AM so he could pretend that he was something and have to kiss Raddy's ass said to hell with it. An opening was there and he chose to grab it. Good for him. Good for the USA. We all were worried.
The old fart at 9-Noon, who's so insecure he makes me look sedate, barely even mentioned Daffy. That's his style. He's become so out of it, like his terrestrial outlet, that he's mainly worried about just showing up and getting that check. Why does he still show up? Because. he. needs. the. money. (Notice his diminished role on Comcast? They know it too and now only use him when no one else is there and/or when Papa takes a day off.)
And the new boy in town? Talk about lack of ingenuity. But I'm not that surprised. Taking a stab at "Murph and Mac?" Yeah, that'll get you some mileage. Why don't you go after the redneck while you're at it, he'll work cheap as long as you have a studio and a couch.
I'm outta here today. I think I'll go to Alcatraz and drink a pint.
They'll all ass-kissers. Bottom line, they're going to hell in a hand basket. And just wait until Cumulus gobbles up Citadel. Pink slips. Broken hearts. The new reality. And therefore, its all about NOTHING in the long haul.
Take care. Breathe some fresh air today.
who's "the redneck"?
ReplyDeleteRedneck = PCon = Patrick Connor.
ReplyDeleteThe redneck, is the same guy as the marine, the same guy who gets giddy telling the story of how he paid for a hooker and got busy at the Nikko hotel: P-Conn aka Patrick Connor
ReplyDeleteRich, you’ve never explained why you dislike Dan Dibbley so much. I understand you reserve your worst vitriol towards non-Jews (plenty of boring incompetent Jews on the airwaves), but the anger towards Dibbley is puzzling. If anything the guy is way smarter than he was allowed to be with the nine to noon guy who dumbs his show down to gutter level. Dibbley is well-spoken, knows sports and is eager to show his stuff. The fact he was not mentioned at all this morning is an indication the brass at KNBR is upset about this move. Go drink a couple of pints and chill man, you seem pretty upset that in this economy Dibbley was able to move to greener pastures…..good for him and good luck to him. Anything that pokes the mail it in guy in the eye is welcome news.
RIP RadDick
ReplyDeleteI like Dibley-he was on 95.7 this morning for a tease..and he let it fly more in 5 minutes than KNBR does all day.
ReplyDeleteRadnich gave a fast note..probably against Lee Hammer wishes. Connor like you said..never said a thing. He's weird. His company man act is more important than his freindship. He didnt say a word.
Dibs-and maybe Ray are the only ones worth stealing from KNBR. And 1050 can keep the lobotomized Damon Bruce..quick, find a big Indian to put a pillow over a sleeping Bruce!
RIP the old Damon.

I too think they were told not to say anything and Gary went against the grain and did a little salute. I thought it was a good salute and being that the stations are direct competitors, they're NOT supposed to mention that kind of stuff. Someone moves on and everyone turns the page without missing a beat. P-Con is not in a position to say a darn thing if he values his job. Gary can pull that kind of stuff... NO ONE ELSE at KNBR (Except maybe Ralph) can unilaterally make a mention like that and not sweat being called on the carpet. It was done short and to the point and they moved on... A positive here.
ReplyDeleteBTW... Good luck to Dibley- A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for
Why so much vitriol for Dibley? "He's got a funny voice and he talks. About nothing." That's your take? Nice effort. The only one mailing it in here is you. Regarding Dibley, he's well versed in all sports, and can actually talk at a detailed level about them (unlike the majority of folks at KNBR). He was a producer who also had an on-air presence for some shows, but not for others. So he found an opportunity to have more time on air and decided to take it. What's wrong with that? If you don't like him, give us some good reasons, not just the weak effort presented in this post.
ReplyDeleteso much hate... I sincerely feel sorry for you Rich, something must have gone really bad in your life for you to lash out this way...hope things work out better for you in the future, because right now reading some of your posts are just sad...
ReplyDeleteI like Dibley the Gentile, too. The new station needs to snap up people like Tittle and maybe Bruce, although he would be a bit of a re-tread. At least Rich didn't brag about having sex again today.
ReplyDeleteIn life it is better to light a candle than to curve the darkness. ..
ReplyDeleteif what rich says is true that 95.7 tried to land murph/mac, then i'm sure they reached out possibly to tittle who seems to have the huge support from many a's fans at least and probably bruce whos deal is rumored to be up.
ReplyDeleteRich, right on point. KNBR is a FKING joke!!!!
ReplyDeletedibley is just a dull douche and added nothing to the morning show or the Radnich show. its sad because he used to be cool a few years ago but now either he decided he needed to put on a front as a pompous arrogant fool or he actually believed all the bs Radnich said about him.
ReplyDeleteas for P-Conn, he and Urban had a nice repoire on the weekend pre-game shows last year, time will tell if the same develops with Marty Lurie.
also, good to hear Damon Bruce on the weekends on KNBR - essentially a pre-game show.
I agree with the above poster.. I felt Dibbley's 'schtick' was to be the pompous arrogant jerk to Gary's 'schtick'.. I also agree with most of these posters above in that I don't understand your vitriol for DD? I follow your logic on every other on air guy (KNBR) WIthout ever picking up your blog before, I too saw the on air transformation (demise) of one D Bruce when he moved over to 1050, but I honestly feel that Dan Dibley is the perfect on air personality to let it fly over at 95.7. Other than that, I tend to agree with most of your observations
