Hottest Weather Woman on the Planet; 10 Questions for NBC Bay Area's Christina Loren

I LOVE CHRISTINA LOREN.

I look forward to seeing her every weekday morning on NBC Bay Area predicting the weather. She is drop-dead gorgeous and all, but she also knows her stuff too. What a bargain. OK, so I'm a tad smitten, but excuse me, its my blog and I can do whatever I please--you gotta problem with that? Sue me.

For now, Christina is busy and working strong at her gig which she takes very seriously, mind you.

You're a self-described "weather geek." Talk about how you got there. Growing up in Palm Springs, rain was an unusual event. As a kid I was fascinated by it. So I’d literally spend hours watching The Weather Channel to make sure I knew exactly what was going to happen and when. I ended up going to school at Chico State and earned a degree in Economics. But my heart was always in forecasting the weather. So I went back to school to become a meteorologist.

If you weren't doing weather, what would you like to do? News, sports,? At one point I considered becoming a teacher. I’m also a talker, and I’ve got strong opinions. So if I had to do something other than Weather, it’d have to be AM Talk Radio, or better yet, a satellite radio show with a wide-open format.

Describe your day from wake-up to bedtime. I get up at 2am, to classic rock. I jump on the computer and start to work on my forecast. I give the producers a heads up by email, then head to work. I spend the next couple of hours fine-tuning my forecast, and building maps and graphics for air. I’m on air about every 10 minutes from 4:30am until 10:30am. I record a forecast for the web, then head home, grab a bite to eat, sometimes I actually work out, and I’m off to bed. The early morning shift can take a toll, but I really love what I do, so it’s completely worth it.

OK, so Christina, you are gorgeous AND smart too. How do you handle the fact that there's a lot of viewers watching that may not necessarily be interested in the weather you're forecasting? Oh I think people ARE interested in the forecast. It’s information you need to get out the door in the morning.

You happen to be single...Does your place in the business and demands of the job make it difficult to meet people? Social Media makes it easy meet people, and I had some friends here already, but I’m just not really looking right now.

Do you resent the fact that I have referred to you as being "hot?" I don’t resent the reference, but thank you for the compliment instead. I really do believe its okay for an intelligent woman to try to look her best, and still be taken seriously. I put a lot of time and energy into creating the most accurate forecast possible. I hope people will get that. And if a few people tune in to see what shoes I’m wearing, so be it.

NBC Bay Area has used your images/pictures in a majority of its ads on TV and the Internet? Do you feel any pressure being the centerpiece of an ad campaign? It’s part of the job. The pictures are just promotion for the station. I sweat more about making sure my forecast is as accurate is humanly possible. There’s no better feeling than getting it exactly right. And there’s no worse feeling than getting it wrong. People are depending on me and my forecast, and that’s a lot more pressure than a billboard.

You like older, neurotic media bloggers? I'll sing "Mandy" to you if that's what it takes. I prefer “Brandy,” by Looking Glass to “Mandy,” in a high F-Sharp.

What are some of your hobbies? Hanging with my pugs, video games, and watching Giants baseball.

We're having lunch and I'm wearing a serious suit. You? Rich, you own a serious suit? (smiles)

  2. From Day One, I've had a notion that Christina Loren was much more than a "hot" meteorologist. I guess I'm right. Good interview, Rich.

Thanks for the morning giggle. It goes well with my morning cup of java. Please tell Christina Loren she now has a new regular viewer!

  5. For your next interview, talk to the the weather person with the masters degree that you continually call an air head, high priestess etc. I dare you.

  8. I like NBC's weather geek at night, Jeff Ranieri! Where is HIS 15 min on your blog? He's the best looking of all the weather men in SFO.

  9. I'd rather watch Darya doing the weather on NBC. This girl is attractive, but not to the point you blew her up to be. Hell, put Darya on every newscast performing every role. In fact, Katie Couric is on the way out...The evening news with Darya Folsom. Love ya Rich!

  10. This is just a fluff piece from someone who sounds obsessed by her. Every other question was about her looks. Wouldn't have been surprised if she walked out mid-interview from the degradation or at least maced the interviewer

  11. Wow! Did you get any on you?

Another month and it's a restraining order for you.

  12. Please do not do a Q&A with Kristy Siefkin as requested! NOBODY CARES about a weather poser.

  13. Rich, love the blog but I don't get your obsession with Christina Loren. She is such a horse face. Nothing is attractive about her neck up. If anything, Evelyn Taft at KRON 4 was a thousand times more beautiful, elegant, and knowledgeable but you never praised her.

I would love to see an interview with reigning weather bitch Kristy Siefkin at KPIX. That would be even slimier than this propaganda.
