The End of Civilization: Keith Olbermann is no more at MSNBC

The World will never be the same.

Shock and sadness in NY. An eerie stillness in LA. Mayhem at Scotland Yard. The Red Sea has parted.

Keith Olbermann is no more at MSNBC.

All that was missing was a phone call from Obama from the Oval Office. Wait. In today's environment, it could happen. Stay tuned.

Don't get me wrong, I think Olbermann is good and everything else, but I'm pretty sure we're going to survive this one. That is, those of us not on Facebook or Twitter musing the latest nothingness from the depths of Cyberville.

My God, even Walter Cronkite didn't get 1/10th the coverage of the Olbermann affair.

I do know this: Olbermann will survive. He's going to get about $7-8 million here or there to leave. He won't starve and he's 100% going to land another gig somewhere, be it one of the other cablers or outlets who will fork over millions for his services.

We should all be so lucky to suffer like Keith Olbermann.

  1. Olbermann again epitomizes the difference between the left and the right windbags. After the shooting in Arizona, Olbermann had an epiphenny of sorts wash over him. He felt in some way responsible for the rise in hate between the libs and the nazi republicans. Olbermann of course, was in no way a cause of the shooting. But the man's heart over took his head, hence the time away from the madness.
THEN you have the right-Rush and Bill and Ann and Mike. The have no guilt whatsoever. None. It doesnt affect them since killing or silenceing an opposing view is what they advocate all the time and of course always cite the pasts violent acts of "patriots" as the way to keep things in line.
The rightwing are the ones armed to the teeth, who love guns and ammo.
Olbermann was a rareity,A liberal who took no gruff and called the despicable the despicable. He will be missed.

  3. Cronkite didn't get this kind of coverage because there WAS no Twitter/Internet/24-hour news cycle back the.

    Just sayin...

  4. Olbermann will be running for Joe Lieberman's (Rich's daddy) Senate seat in 2012.

...although I liked the suggestion on SFGate that Olbermann will be the new White House Press Secretary.

I would not be surprised. The Liberals are always cleaning up the messes of the Conservatives anyway!! :)

  6. Well, those that haven't followed Olberman know he tends to truly burn bridges and p/o many of those that work around him. He knows he is smart and has been known to flaunt it in the faces of those around him. Remember he was the king at ESPN but left becuase he wanted more. Went to Fox to help with their FSN launches that didn't last long at all. Went to NBC the fist time around and they grew tired of him. He ended up back on ESPN Radio for a while then again they asked him to take a hike. The guy can be smart but I think he's too smart for his own good. There was a reason NBC pulled him off SNF...and it wasn't becuase he was working "too hard."
