Al Davis Solo on Comcast makes for Boffo PM TV; Raiders Chief Pirate Overshadows Jackson Presser
Comcast SportsNet Bay Area provided the forum and we all watched. At least I did. You'd kick yourself if you missed it.
The Raiders ostensibly called an afternoon press conference to introduce new coach, Hue Jackson, to the Bay Area media.
The obligatory q-and-a commenced while Jackson and Al Davis held court. Thank God for Al Davis.
Davis, looking haggard and beaten, physically, was nevertheless quite candid and pointed, talking about his ex-coach, Tom Cable, and his and the team's legal issues, (Randy Hansen, Cable's alleged domestic issues with some women on an ESPN program)
Davis was Davis being Davis.
At one point, he even uttered an f-bomb to a Raiders PR person off mike, (but audible)--keep in mind that Hue Jackson, the new coach, was sitting up on the dais listening to all of this. Awkward? You betcha. On the other hand, it made for some damn good melodrama on Bay Area cable.
No doubt the nearly two-hour spectacle will provide for another series of potent quotables.
Thank you, "Mr. Davis", and thanks Ted Griggs, Comcast GM.

Mr Davis is "Still" holding on "tightly" to "The Raider Nation," as we all viewed for ourselves today.
ReplyDeleteAs we all know Mr. Davis walks with a walker, and from his appearence today, he has recently taken a tumble. This is so sad, seeing this proud man, reduced to this...His son really needs to step in, and become the "face" of Raider Nation.
And just the biggest single digit salute to shill Lee "Dick Cheney" Hammer for not carrying the conference for those who couldn't see all of it on Comcast. Hammer, shill that he is,couldnt see Giant,Warrior or Warrior fans having any interest?..what a lackey he is.
ReplyDeleteWhat KNBR could be if run by a man with talent and intelligence.
Is there a 'Jed' Davis in waiting? Good Gawd, that press conference was a train wreck, right up there with the Kiffin firing one.
ReplyDeleteNot once did Davis take any blame for the state of that team.
Al Davis, Chris Cohan, Lew Wolff.
One down, 2 to go.
