Will other NBC O and O's outsource sports to Comcast? And "Chronicle Live" preview

Now that the local NBC Bay Area station down in San Jose plans on outsourcing its sports content from Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, will other NBC o and o's (owned and operated stations) follow?

That's the question industry people are asking as Comcast corporate nears acquisition of a controlling interest of NBC. From a purely bottom-line standpoint, it makes sense...we'll explore that Monday as well as my experience on "Chronicle Live" and other illustrious things.

Have a dry and safe Sunday.

  1. Well since Comcast is buying NBC/Universal from
GE...It would make since...And no pesky Unions
like AFTRA to get in their way. Which means lower
costs and of course Less experienced...Ummm make that Cheaper Talent. When your spending Billions
every little bit helps...Comcast is one of those
Companies that probably believes in The "Anyone Can do you Job Theory" Nice Hair,Shiny Suit is all you need.

  2. Damon Andrews was a decent sports anchor at KTLA down in Los Angeles. If he turns into the main sports face on KNTV, that would work.

NBC decision-making regarding KNTV has consistently been bad, but having local Comcast Sports handle the sports portion of the broadcast sounds like a good idea.

  3. Definitely a good idea. Not sure what the first guy means by cheap talent. If you look at the resume'of the Comcast talent, they are much more talented and higher paid than KNTV staff. In fact it's not even close, Scott Reiss, Damon Andrews, Dave Benz,Mindi Bach, Matt Morrison, Henry Wofford,Jaymee Sire, Kate Longworth, Brodie Brazil, overall better talent and better product.
