Quintin Dailey dies; Ex-USF/NBA star has heart attack

Quintin Dailey, the ex USF basketball player who was a part of the celebrated Don's basketball team of 1977,  died of an apparent heart attack in Las Vegas late Monday.

Dailey was 49.

Rhonda Lockhart, a friend of Dailey, confirmed the news to me.

Dailey plead guilty in 1982 to attempted assault on a USF nursing student and received three years' probation. Original charges included attempted assault with intent to rape. That and others were dropped.

In August 1982, shortly after Dailey was sentenced, and in the midst of NCAA inquiries, USF shut down its program.

  1. Like the Vegas entertainer of the year or Billy the TV pitch salesman who pushed that magic clean or whatever, middle aged men who were known to do cocaine, then dying of "natural causes". And then there was the WHO's baseplayer,Bobby Hatfeild of the Righteous Bros, and even Eddie Van Halen who stopped doing coke because of heart problems..and then on and on. 49.and no more for a short thrill.

  2. I played basketball against Quentin many times and liked him alot. At the time the basketball world was full of assholes. Lots of gangsters, white haters, dirty coaches, & drug dealers. Quentin was always a kind guy who was nice to everybody. I lost track of him. I will keep him in my prayers. RIP Quentin, you were not what everybody thought you to be.
