Amid Giants' historic Series Run, Where's Gary on Comcast? Monday pulse

Have you noticed the mysterious absence of Gary Radnich on pre and post-game Giants Comcast broadcasts?

What's the deal?

Radnich has been a very visible and arguably, prominent fixture on the CSNBA Giants segments and his sudden disappearance has produced a slew of rumors in and out of the local broadcast chatter.

One consistent reason making the rounds is that Radnich has lost favor with the GM of Comcast, Ted Griggs.

I asked Griggs, via e-mail, directly about why Radnich has been absent on Comcast. Griggs didn't directly answer only to suggest he was happy with the current talent set-up.

"We're using Dave Benz, Scott Reiss, and Henry Wofford in the NLDS, NLCS, and WS.

They've been working on Giants Pre&Post all year and know the team very well. This is a fantastic opportunity to build their visibility."

  1. Radnich is overexposed and overbearing. The guy is on the KRON newscast several times a day, KNBR radio, 49ers post-game and Sunday Wrap. He does not seem to turn down any gigs!

  2. Adding up Radnich's own storys on his own show of Comcast youngin's teasing him about "If he's been rehearsing his 1970's jokes"..which Radnich tells without a smile on Comcast, and his constant shots at Dave Benz for high fiving for the big Giant's wins as Radnich hints as phony or insincere since Benz is new to the bay area,PLUS,his immediate backing of first Phillie and then tacit through Dan Dibbly support of Texas, his full of himself act isn't popular at Comcast.
And it couldnt help he actually said "It WAS nice working for Comcast" tells me THAT and Lee Hammer having to tell Radnich to talk Giants on his own show is Radnich being the Sportsphone's own version of Nellie.Overpaid, and for himself at all times.
He really even surprised his biggest critics with an almost resentment of bay area Giants fever. Radnich could easily have shot ratings through the roof-and rightfully so- for being on the bandwagon of a great story, instead he dragged his heels. Go figure...

  3. And,Patrick Connor hasnt been heard from in a while-no mention of being on a vacation on Radnich's show. What have you heard on that one Rich?

  4. Good decision by Griggs. Radnitch is a fan of nothing but himself. A truly revolting individual who would deflect attention from the Giants to himself.

  5. Word in the biz is that Ted Griggs is not a fan of Radnich. I can't see how anybody is really...

  6. As a neutral fan here in the Central Valley,we are sick of this bloated hack. He's on way too many shows(sunday night rap being the worst),so it's been nice not seeing this played out 1980's performer missing from the Giant's programming. He was a joke in Fresno when he did sport's for KMPH FOX 26 back in the day...GOOD RIDDANCE! P.S. also we here in the valley have yet to see a single game of the Warriors(blacked out),but have been given the "pleasure" of seeing all the Kings games, what gives?

  7. Showing you have your finger on the pulse.. Griggs was just on Comcast with Papa and Lee Hammer. Griggs even cracked a joke he knew the Giants would win when he saw GW Bush "Stand up and announce mission accomplished!" I now admire Griggs as local business man of the year-and he hires with diversity.
btw,Papa and Lee Hammer never cracked a smile at Grigg's joke telling me they just might be conservatives..and of course Lee Hammer never hires for diversity.

  8. Could it be the flood of calls to comcast complaining of his tired act actually worked? Oh yes they got an avalanche of calls.

I called Radnich myself on the air and told him he was ruining Giants postgame. He asked why? I told him because you're a clown.

He said all he got was positive feed back. Don't think so. He was gone like this (snap of the fingers) shortly thereafter. Too funny.
