Some KGO hosts asked not to talk about the 'Mickey affair'; the latest

I've been told by a few insiders that "some" KGO hosts have been advised by upper brass not to talk about the Luckoff affair. There's not been a direct memo, more just a "don't" directive placed forth by those who get the calls and e-mail from Fagreed's people.

The latest buzz:

According to a few in the know, PD Jack Swanson will not be the new VP/GM. Most of the higher-ups in sales, on-air staff would love to see Swanson take the position because, according to one, "we trust him."

**Programming: I'm hearing talk of eventual weekend syndication and lots of re-runs, again, that's pure speculation, but it does make sense because it would save a lot of cash which Citadel loves to hear...The Don Imus rumor, (reported by Brad Kava) is also making the rounds, but haven't heard anything concrete yet...

That's it for now.

  1. I'm surprised Citadel didn't have a new VP/GM on site immediately. That they didn't suggests Mickey was in control of the timing. Whatever they did personnel-wise in other ABC/Disney markets might be a clue, but it would be amazing if they promoted somebody from Mickey's inner circle. More likely would be a trusted rising star from one of their other markets. Key people from previous management tend to drift away sooner or later in situations like this.

  3. Don Imus to be syndicated on KGO? I think half of San Francisco would commit suicide.

  4. What I don't understand is the need to go conservative in the SF market. Sounds to me that the problem is that KGO needs younger listeners, but going right would make it skew even older. Unless they go with someone like Alex Jones who talks about new world order conspiracies and hoarding seeds as barter items when our economy collapses. That might get a few 20-something skinheads listening

  5. More Len Tillim. Hearing real people call in about their real problems is much more interesting than listening to pompus radio hosts anyday.
