The SF Giants take on the San Diego Padres in a pivotal four-game series beginning tonight in Bordertown. We're talking hot stove-supreme pennant race fever invading the Bay Area.
You'd think baseball would rule tonight on the tele.
Wrong. Probably.
The NFL opens its season tonight with a gridiron lollapalooza--the defending champion New Orleans Saints versus Brett Favre and the MinnEEEsota Vikings. In these cases, football usually rules.
Even a means-nothing exhibition game a few weeks back beat the Giants-Dodgers on ESPN. It wasn't even close. The "pre-season" game outdrew baseball 4x.
As we say, the NFL rules.
By the way, out A's bias aside, we wish the Giants well, (sort of) in San Diego.
