Plummer gets harsh on Crabtree on 49ers radio broadcast; 'Bench him'

Gary Plummer was emphatic about 49ers receiver, Michael Crabtree. "Blunt" would come to mind.

During the broadcast in Seattle as SF was about to be dehorned by the Seattle Seahawks, Plummer went off on the Niners #1 2009 draft pick.

"Bench him! Bench him!--get him outta there. He's hurting the team...said, Plummer. "You can't have a guy in there who runs the 'wrong routes and makes too many mistakes. You just can't."

Plummer, to his credit, didn't back down and was even more steamed in the post-game summation with partner, Ted Robinson.

Plummer's rant was refreshing and utterly candid. And whether or not you're a 49ers fan, it was slightly gutsy in this day and age of homers invading the broadcast booth. Plummer's ex-team may have been routed and embarrassed in Seattle, but the color analyst certainly told it like it was. And he was right.

  2. Crabtree is an overpriced fool! Hes not a team player, never was! His hold out last year proved it to me. Hes just in it for himself and the team be dammed!

  3. Radnich played that clip..and either out of jealousy or truth, said the only reason Plummer spoke out is that the 49er Org. had given tacit approval. And that makes sense. The last time a local player on a team KNBR carry's was ripped, was Anthony Randolph who was torn into by stooges Fitz and Brooks..and Randolph was in the Warrior Orgs. doghouse just days before that.

  4. I used to like Gary Radnich, but honestly we fans all KNOW Gary is in the hip pocket of the 49er ownership. Gawd, all we 49er fans are asking for is Objectivity from our Local Media! I take my hat off to Gary Plummer for being honest with all of us fans. And Gary, you need to remove your lips from Jed York's you-know-what.
