Several of you have e-mailed, commented, and want information regarding the KTRB situation at the moment, A's, personnel and what lies in store for the future...all legitimate questions.
What is known: A's programming and games will continue as previously noted and both the Chris Townsend pre-and post-game shows are intact. Townsend will be paid by the A's.
**Ken Dito is NO longer paid by KTRB since there is NO money. He was effectively let go on Friday, (like everyone else); if he's continuing on, Dito is either working gratis, (read: FREE), or trying to sell accounts so he can continue to do his mumbling on-air, (his buddy, Carl Steward, of the Merc, bought the kool-aid and maintained that Dito wasn't "fired"--Steward tried to lampoon me because I got the initial Savage story wrong; which I corrected) In any event, I was right: Dito is no longer a KTRB employee. A single engineer is the only one who is being compensated.
**Station future and A's situation: In the coming days, I will know more; suffice to say, for now, no changes, but at the end of the season, there will have to be some decisions made.
**Stanford Football and Basketball broadcasts: In the immediate future, safe. But things can change.
OVERALL: As I get more info, I will write a more detailed account and keep you up to date.
And don't believe what you read on-line or in the papers from so-called "writers" who don't have a clue what's going on and are drinking the cool-aid doled out by a 74 year-old has-been doofus like Dito who doesn't know diddly.
**Oh, do I have a beef with Dito? If he was relevant, yes, but he isn't and has said as much.
Also Rich,The revelation that KNBR's Bob Fitzgerald's salary has been paid in secret by the Warriors-thus explaining why he has been kept despite being despised by fans-and media..has NOT been printed or mentioned anywhere in local sports outlets. Not even Kawakami who did tweet mention it..nothing in his column.
ReplyDeleteThat is again the power to control by the alliance of KNBR,Comcastwest.A decade ago, that would have been all over the sports pages.
I really think the A's need to take a tip from the Giants and get on a radio station that they have some ownership of. Something with a lot of watts and, with a stake in the station, they can stay put for years and build an audience.
ReplyDeleteTelevision networks prefer shows that their own studios produce. Corporations have their hands in multiple parts of a pie. The A's need to branch out and control their distribution and not just the product.
Hello All
ReplyDeleteWhatever happens at KRTB, Michael Savage can still be heard on the Sacramento station KEST I believe are the call letters 660AM, so you don't have to listen to the mostly boring KGO talkers.
They also carry the third Savage hour 5-6pm.
Weren't you recently extolling the virtues of Dido when he got his 9am radio show? What happened? How can you be so 2-faced? Seriously.
ReplyDeleteTo all who always ask Rich why the switch on so and so? Because local media types are prima donna's who make alliances-including with Rich- that snap in a second if they feel you in some way cost them a penny or slighted them. And Rich as a critic really is read by them all,and they hope to read good..but all will turn on him like that. I have met those types. All it takes is a email with a pointed question-your then on the s-list. No suprise Rich has to return the favor.Hell, maybe Rich is wrong sometimes too-but that's the game.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who Dito is, or how he peed in your Cheerios, but way to kick a guy in the nuts while he's down.
ReplyDeleteNice blog, by the way, looks like serious business...
