The first "fire Singletary" salvo has been heard: KNBR's Damon Bruce began his post game mantra saying "Ok, Singletary has got to go."
Gees, I wonder why he would say that?
I'm guessing, (again) that the 49ers ineptitude will dominate the sports-talk show dialogue on Monday, after all, there's nothing more than an abysmal football team playing abysmal football that sets off the leather lungs in Livermore screaming and yelling.
Some early predictions:
Radnich: "Hey, they're not that good, but it's only three games-blah, blah, blah"
Razor and Mr. T: "They sucked, they were bad, but you can't give up now."
Fitz and Brooks: "Caller, why are you so down on the team--they at least tried. I mean, look at Notre Dame, there's effort there."
Bruce was more emphatic later in his show: "They, (49ers) quit today. They quit!"

You got it with Fitz and Brooks as Brooks today put all the blame on the 49er defense. He said nothing about the Coaching or playcalling..He's no D.O.D. he thinks, uh-uh,he ain't going there. He goes into automatic shill. No chance Rod puts blame where it's due. He's Rod the Fraud, until the end of the day.
ReplyDeleteCareful, D-Bruce, you don't want to get "O'Donnelled"!! (Yes, it is a verb now. Much like Larry Krueger getting "Alou-ed".)
ReplyDeleteLast week, there were some things one could say were positive within a loss but not this week. They did squeak a last second TD but it was some painful Niners football. I didn't watch the post game (not with the Giants/Rockies game) but I'm curious how many "get better"s we got from Sing and if Alex shifted the blame at all?
The announcer (Tim Ryan?) already started the "they can still win this division" talk during the game but it looks like, for some halfway decent football to watch, I might get that from Raiders Away games.
I do think it is too early to fire the head coach. Wait until the end of the season and see what happens. Who would they replace Sing with? The talent pool is greater after the season rather than 3 weeks in. Or perhaps Sing still has time to improve on 8-8. But to do it now leaves the team in a bigger mess and fuel for the Alex-Defenders to say it wasn't a season of stability for him.
and in response, Singletary threw Jimmy Raye under the bus. That ought to buy him 3 more games.
