Short post because it seems everyone is heading to the beach or grilling some ribs...
Funny that the "big names" have taken the day off, while the traffic gurus are all working, (why on earth would traffic people be needed on Labor Day, of all days?) It was downright hilarious to hear "traffic-man" on KGO and his female counterpart on KCBS to tell us what we already know: about 5 cars were laboring through the Bay Bridge toll gates. Thanks, actually I thought there'd be a backup past the maze...
**David Lazarus was substituting for Ronn Owens on KGO--immediate dial switcher for yours truly...Jon Carroll wrote his usual holiday thinker in the Chron. I like Carroll, but his esoteric wordings get, well, a little too esoteric, especially during holidays. I suppose it beats five hundred words about his cat...
This is going to be a slow news day. Why? Because its Labor Day and everyone--from the shores of Santa Cruz to the East river in NY is away. The ONLY people that are working, I believe, are Ali Velshi and Don Lemon at CNN, just in case some nutcase goes bonkers on an airplane and we get live, team coverage...The locals are defacto out of order too as the only "news" are the usual shots of politicians at union picnics, and yes, Jerry Lewis, collecting a check from the 7-11 people--"keep those phones ringing!"
**See ya. Eat well and prosper.
Heather Holmes, John Sasaki, Gasia Mikaelian, Tori Campbell, Dave Clark, and Tom Vacar were all working today on the Telethon and it was great to see more of their personalities come through rather than just reading the straight news. Gasia has a lot more energy and personality than we normally see and I'm sure going to miss Holmes if she indeed goes elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteAnd, of course, Marty Lurie is working all day. The man is a saint.
