Funniest show on SF radio; Alan Colmes on 'Green 960; Monday PM media pulse

Of all people, Alan Colmes, the former house liberal for Fox News, (he still contributes,) delivers a top-notch, funny, biting, and often hilarious talk-fest three hours nightly on Green 960 AM from 9PM - Midnight, M-F.

The fact that Colmes is based out of NY is irrelevant; his show brings a unique mix of quality, innately entertaining, and often times, bizarro, caller-driven audio staccato that is infinitely listenable.

Much like Michael Savage on XTRA Sports (AM 860,) throw out politics when you listen. Colmes is left of center, no doubt, and an ardent supporter of President Obama, but so much of the show is beyond mere politics.

Colmes' callers are extremely entertaining, sometimes unintentionally, and Colmes seems to gravitate to their occasional bits of delirium. One of his signature bits is called "radio graffiti", where Colmes allows a three-minute audio ballet of completely unedited, unscreened, callers who can say virtually anything, as long as its only a sentence. It sounds stupid and gimmicky until you listen and start laughing hysterically.

Colmes is serious too, but he's able to move things along quickly and steadily. He's also a damn good interviewer. He's also not afraid to confront the lunatic right and left who seem fixated on teasing his obvious intellect. Yes, you can be smart, funny, articulate, and even a royal pain in the tuchas. Colmes is that, and much more.

Give a listen.
