KRON-GM SAYS "No Plans to Cut Weekend Shows", Morale Still "Toxic" inside 1001 Van Ness

KRON-4 News has "no plans" after all to do away with weekend newscasts, proclaims station GM Brian Greif, in a correction to "Off Camera", which reported that Young Broadcasting's recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy included a plan to do away with weekend newscasts. Not so.

"The weekend news anchors have not been notified 'their shows are going away", stated Greif. "Off Camera" said they regretted the error.

As for the view from this blog, let's wait and see. Keep in mind that in Young's original post Chapter 11 BK news release, they also stated that "no personnel" would be affected; subsequently, weekend sports anchor, Vern Glenn, was "re-assigned" from his duties, to midweek 'VJ duty', and KRON began running canned, day-old sports highlights, with no local anchor.

In addition, a station source told me that morale inside 1001 Van Ness is "toxic" and staffers are worried.

So, in other words, let's just wait and see.
