Hey 12:12 genius: You don't get that radio, which was very powerful at one time, is withering on the vine. It's a shame, but they did it to themselves. Cumulus and Audacity have taken radio down the hole. The FCC hasn't helped either by supporting the monopolies. Good people have left the industry. What's left is, as Dickie Lieberman would say, dreck. Soon AM, and to a degree FM, will be lots of empty frequencies. We'll all lose. As much as satellite is great, you have to pay for it. It ain't free. Think about that while you're mindlessly coding.
Hey 7:48PM genius, WTF does any of that you wrote have to do with 12:12PM saying basically radio hosts can either accept the new commute or quit which seems to me their only option too. Not understanding why you went off on him/her for saying the obvious which is true regardless of the state of the overall radio industry now you belabored.
@ 7:48 Couldn't agree more, yes, Is Sirius XM isn't free I'm more than happy to pay for it, no more aggravation, dead air and brainless personalities and so much content! Like discovering paid cable TV!
I agree with 12:12. Don’t like the commute? QUIT. There are 10’s of thousands who drive in from Stockton, Los Banos, Antioch, every day. 2 asshats from Marin have to drive 50 miles and it’s a crime being perpetrated on them. Move to Newman and grin and bear it.
Murph enjoying Hawaii on the company’s dime during all this? No class on his or Cumulus’ part. He probably expects a helicopter for his new work commute. Watch with the fog over San Bruno/Daly City though.
Murphy must love commuting from Mellow Marin to Santa Clara. Maybe he’ll work from his home office, by the laundry room and half bath. Either way, he has been mailing it in for years. I hear his voice and quickly change the channel. Anybody besides me who thinks he is better suited for a suburb of Fort Smith AR ? He is, after all, a southern-fried triple talker.
He's pretty bad. Repeating scripted segments almost as often as KCBS repeats things. He even has the gaul to sneak in one of those insufferable "tribute" parody songs now and then.
I don’t understand why people think this latest fiasco is a surprise. We could see it coming YEARS ago when Cumulus appeared on the scene annd immediately started firing people. Companies such as cumulus, I heart and Audacy are like a deadly bout if cancer that has metastasized. They have helped destroy a once vibrant industry.
Why wouldn't they move to Oracle Park Studios?
ReplyDeleteGood point
DeleteGood to know about KNBR going to Levi. I will be on the look at for them. I saw Matt Maiocco walking to Levi as I went by Levi's. Ray from Sunnyvale
ReplyDeleteI also Greg Papa eating at the nearby Scott Blvd MCD asking if anybody heard his 49er broadcast.Ray from Sunnyvale
DeleteThey have options=quit

Hey Rich
ReplyDeleteI can not believe it took this long to delete 107.7 the bone from our airwaves. What a travesty. KSAN is rolling in it's grave.

ReplyDeleteHey Murph, they want you out next
ReplyDeleteMike Silver's kid is a big mouth, like his dad. I can't imagine Greg and Greg lasting very long.
ReplyDeleteSo I listened yesterday to the first edition of the Greg and Greg show oh my God do I miss Gary Radnich and Ralph Barbieri and even Tom Tolbert
ReplyDeleteRent at 55 Hawthorne is overdue plus they were not going to make payroll. Why the hasty move and layoffs.

DeleteI think more like an Irish speed talker only rivaled by Dieter Kurtenbach who is a German motor mouth.

ReplyDeleteThey couldn’t even afford rent for their studios on Battery and Broadway. That’s how financially strapped they are. Poor Brian Murphy! 😩. Waa waa waa! Now he has to drive all the way from Marin to Santa Clara every day. My heart pumps bilge water for him.
