Truly, this is how sad it is at KTVU. They blow off Kyla Grogan and bring in this amateur retread?
Roberta Gonzales was funny, poignant and relevent...about ten years ago. Now, she's like an old lamp on sale at Target. I'm sorry but the whole thing smells to high heaven. Rumor at KTVU: maybe she was hired so someone could be Amber 's(Eikel) designated yenta.
On the other hand, anyone is better than Bill Martin.

I hear he lives in San Jose, volunteers his time at Second Harvest Foodbank and might be looking for a part-time "sunset" gig. SMH...
ReplyDeleteI work at KTVU. Kyla decided to leave because it was a dead end for her with Martin staying on. They'd have preferred she stay but nobody blames her for moving on. She fit in very well with the staff here. A shame really. She is good tv.
DeleteI had completely forgotten about her. I still remember that 1960's hairdo she sported for like 20 years straight starting in the 80's. She looked like she was from the past. She was/is an attractive woman and seems like a nice person. Good luck to her.

Wow...that really screams desperation to bring Roberta in as a part timer. And it doesn't even solve KTVU's rotation problem.
ReplyDeleteThe solution is really simple. Paulson and Martin should be retired by now. Kick them out the door. Move Orozco and Tamayo to M-Fr full time. That leaves holes on the weekend but that's where the newbies/temps should go in the first place instead of scattered throughout the week.

ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, Bill Martin is absolutely the best weather guesser we have in the Bay Area. Some of us don't mind the folksy, conversational approach he takes, and by far the best prognosticator in the region, with the possible exception of Steve Paulson. And worse, they both are apparently looking to retire.

He was lecturing the audience about how great the Sierra Club is, almost talking down to us in a smarmy way. The same Sierra Club that Dr. Bill Wattenburg warned about on KGO radio for decades. He warned these fires were coming and blamed them and their actions.

DeleteI think most Bay Area news viewers just watch what they watch out of habit. Either that or the remotes in the nursing homes are stuck on KTVU and there's no healthcare workers to change the channel due to the pandemic shortage.
If there's positive cash flow, and the FOX propaganda can play from time to time, it is working fine for "Fox Media in New York."
