For two hours or so, (2, how appropriate), Channel 2, on its Friday "MO2" (Mornings on Two) show, had NO WEATHER anchor. None, which considering the fact, that its anchors and reporters were talking about how hot the weather would be around the Bay Area, was especially glaring.
Steve Paulson, the regular weatherman, was on vacation. That much we know.
Later on, Mark Tamayo showed up and looked as if he was out all-night and not really ready to talk about weather. I guess Rosemary Orozco wasn't available.
Either way, it was, yet another embarrassing episode by the KTVU follies dept.
For one, the no-weather deal makes everyone look bad. It also reinforces the idea that NO ONE at KTVU, especially the bosses, has a clue how to run a news operation. No one. It is supposedly a professional organization but as one spy told me, "We couldn't lead an Eskimo to Alaska right now."
Ouch.
