 HAPPY MONDAY...not so much at KQED where lower-level managers make more than the top talking heads on TV and radio. The natives are not happy and another one-day sickout looms; from here, it's gonna take more than a day to shake up the suits. They're too busy taking their friends to Tadich on company credit cards; have a nice pledge day.

*It's pretty simple: Mick Luckoff, like the rest of you, doesn't think Ronnnnnnn sounds that great on the air. Might be sort of too honest but he's right and Mr. Softie doesn't like to hear that ...unless it was told to him by super cad, Jason Middleton, Ronn's current flavor of the month.

*After an extended leave from KGO-TV (ABC7) to care for her ailing father (who since passed) Katie Marzullo is back on the air; a bit understandably sullen ; but awash in new spirit too, despite being mistreated by the suits.


*I have no idea what the hell KGO and Burton are trying to accomplish in the morning but the experiment now is a certifiable dud. For starters, no one is watching the Disco Show...believe it or not some people actually want to watch news as opposed to seeing the pulsating chick dance on the air every five minutes; her idiotic male robot with the shaking head and clueless disposition is EL CRAPPO.

Secondly, the ENTIRE newsroom is DISGUSTED with them Oh, but wait....They ARE GROOVY on Social Media.

Ronn Owens used to DETEST ex-KGO and ABC Veep, Mickey Luckoff; back in the day Ronn clobbered Mickey in a salary arbitration case; Owens won and Luckoff vowed to never to talk to Ronnnnnn again.

Soon after Ronn's bout with Parkinson's Disease was disclosed both he and Luckoff thawed their ice-cold relationship but the strain is back on and it's as ugly as ever.

 We heard it through the grapevine that DA LOYAH, Len Tillem is thisclose to getting back an hour or so talkie at KGO Radio, which wouldn't be such a bad thing, I love Tillem, what about you?

Tillem cracks me up; I like the NuuYawk accent and the stories from people telling Lennie they was thrown out of their apartment by a corrupt landlord.
Tillem makes me LOL for whatever its worth; his shtick is straight out of appointment radio. It's pretty  decent stuff but what makes it work is the host's street cred and personality. Tillem delivers on all counts.

We hope the radio grapevine delivers DA LOYAH.

KTVU 'War' On The Morning; KGO Tells Ronnnnnnnnn To Plug Chip Franklin's Show or Else; Janelle Wang Gets Company from 30 Rock; Ros Gold-Onwude Divine; TGIF Launch

 WAR ON THE MORNING --KTVU's most senior staffers; including producers, news writers, and some key on-air people have risen up (slowly) and have DEMANDED to meet with station honchos about the direction of FOX2's Bay Area O and O.

The group, which is small but has some degree of influence at the station, has been "unnerved" by some of 2's "alarming news content sway away from the past."

We can only assume that incessant mugging, pathetic in-house chortling on the air, and abhorrent behavior by some of KTVU's grunts has finally pissed off the people who still count.

Maybe. We'll wait and see.

*The Shit hit the Fan at KGO where upper management suits TOLD Ronn Owens to start plugging Chip Franklin's show or else...Owens has returned to mentioning Chip's 12-3 show ...Chip is now selling more toilet paper and Rich Uncles to celebrate.

*Janelle Wang of NBC Bay Area has NY 30 Rock news execs planning a secret meeting with her in San Jose sooner rather than later. I don't think they'll be talking about meatball recipes.

*I could give a rat's ass as to Kate Scott's sexual orientation; she's the one who brings it up every five minutes and only so to use it (when she has to) to further her career. She's smart, I'll give her that because for not for her gayness, she'd be selling cosmetics at the Clovis Macys. She sure as hell doesn't know shit about sports.


*ON THE OTHER HAND: Warriors/CSNBA Warriors' Sideline Reporter, Ros  Gold-Onwude DOES KNOW her sports and has LOOKS TO KILL!

The Would-Be Seduction of the 415 Media Blogger; It was Tempting But I Resisted

THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS

When you begin to reach severe (positive) traction and are the talk of the town, some newbies; eager to get into the mind (and something else too) of the 415 Media maven; passionate about their craft and wanting and yearning for attention, you consider options. ALL OPTIONS. So, right now, I have to consider ethics and my responsibility to you, my readers, my people.

I have recently been down the road of temptation. Call it the mother of adult libations but I have, fortunately for you all, nipped IT in the bud. And believe me, IT was TEMPTING. But I have rules of engagement and THIS wasn't on the list.

Again, it was TEMPTING. She WAS HOT! A local femme fatale reporter --one helluva broad with national aspirations --but 415 Media and Yours Truly didn't take the BITE. Never. Not that I didn't look and observe. I'm a man with principle. Your interests are mine too.

Hey guys, you have a newsroom full of disgruntled people; they seem to be pissed off at a lot of things you could nip in the bud; maybe not all at once but hey, it's a start.

Bill, everyone knows it's you that makes the calls; the hiring and the firing; sure, Trixie does the heavy lifting, but you have final say. You have a lot of power there (for now); I mean Disney allows you to get your wife an office at 900 Front even though she works out of KABC...now that seems unethical, (a worker there said that; not me) --on top of that, she has the second best parking spot in the garage! ...So Bill, start paying attention to the rank and file; they are all bitter. They don't like some of the new quislings and are royally pissed at the morning show newbies. Talk to staff. Call a BIG meeting. Tell them that you feel their pain and are working like hell to improve morale and direction of the company. Hell, FAKE IT, if you have to; it would show that you care and have faith in the operation --right now, I'm hearing, you hardly ever even stop by the newsroom. Hardly ever. That's not good Bill, even under normal circumstances and there's really no normal there now. Just my read and I have it on good authority. Did you read the comments? It's not all disgruntled peeps, there's some honest-to-goodness issues there.


Tracey: You seem to have quite a bit of pissed-off people under you. They can't stand the way you manage. Maybe if, God forbid, you tended to be a people-person and quit playing favorites you would at least have the respect of the newsroom. Seriously, Trixie, they hate your guts. I don't have issues with your hiring practices because I don't work there but they seem to indicate you tend to hate men and go full-gaga over women, young women and non-heterosexual men; again, I'm to each is own; but staff apparently thinks this is a problem. Furthermore, and I know this is mostly Burton's call, the mass reliance on those with social media skills (which I know is important) is beginning to bite you in the ass, Trixie; it's fine to keep up with your Facebook and Twitter and Instagram, but really, do your chosen morning puppets have to act like complete nincompoops? They look like morons, really. Get in a meeting with them, especially Zouves--she's beginning to embarrass your company and the ratings are down. That ain't good.
