The best station ever KFRC ! Fast forward to today..... I am cleaning the house all day today listening to "classic hits 103.7 It was ok from 8 to noon with "Caseys coast to coast show. Then after 12pm. Sounds like Shit! 8 songs repeated 10x per day ! Classic hits➡sounds like shit. No variety. Fire these so called DJ's XM. 80s on 8. Sounds way better. You get what you pay for.
I don't remember the station but the morning show when they did the news always referred to "OPEC" as the "OPECERS" during the first gas shortage and would sign off saying " if you don't like the News, go make your own" ...it was primarily a rock station I believe
I even have, somewhere in the house, a KFRC 33 1/3 rpm vinyl record which KFRC put out with whatever variety of songs they decided to put on the album. For those who don't remember or weren't old enough, the other AM competitor was KYA 1260. I agree with 6/2/25@1325 hrs as my tastes went to KSAN and KMPX, too, with San Francisco becoming quite the musical hub/movement back then. We're talking late 1960s, btw.
Tower Records was the mecca on New Release day.

Ya, that's what I've been saying, Sirius XM is the way to go

ReplyDeleteThose really were the days w/ KFRC playing all the hits.
ReplyDeleteKFRC was horrible, bad music and too many gimmicks. KSAN and KMPX were the way to go, much better music, great DJs, and no nonsense.
ReplyDeleteKFRC was THE Top40 station. It deserves to be back on the air.
ReplyDeleteI liked listening to Dr. Don Rose in the morning on the way to work.
