"A bit" turned out to be eight or nine hours. I remember riding past the Hearst mansion & seeing all the news vans parked outside the place. It made the area look like a homeless enclave.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029870750479192711.post-18770451781292766562014-08-11T08:52:08.940-07:002014-08-11T08:52:08.940-07:00Actually, "Godfather II" didn't open...Actually, "Godfather II" didn't open until December.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029870750479192711.post-36259121188808096742014-08-10T21:31:58.093-07:002014-08-10T21:31:58.093-07:00Driving that train on cocaine...... I wonder if 10:19 knows who Jim Morrison was? The Doors was just about my favorite band back then, but there were others. Liked the Rolling Stones almost from the beginning (Mothers Little Helper and Little Red Rooster (was a teen-age in Denmark when the Stones became known, loved jazz, rock not so much until the mid sixties, didn't care for the Beatles at all, when the first appeared, but that changed big time after Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band. So much musical talent back then. Santana, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Eric Clapton etc. Sorry, if I got off the subject, but just hoping to enlighten todays youth.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029870750479192711.post-90309693965154899782014-08-10T20:26:43.027-07:002014-08-10T20:26:43.027-07:00The saddest thing about Richard Nixon is that he h...The saddest thing about Richard Nixon is that he had a terrible insecurity about himself and just didn't like mixing with people. He also probably felt inadequate because of his humble upbringing, and resented "those Ivy League Bastards who got a short cut to the top." Nixon hated being criticized and was paranoid about what his opponents were doing, witness his over reaction by having the Dem Hdqtrs bugged when he had the 1972 election (McGovern) in the bag.

Nixon's political views however would today be considered moderate, or mainstream, and he would not be popular with the more right wing GOP. While he did continue a divisive war in Vietnam for four more years after pledging to end it once he got into office, he also signed important Environmental Legislation into law such as the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, and he helped to establish the EPA. Nixon also opened the doors to China and Russia, helping to lead us out of the Cold War.

But unfortunately, he'll be best remembered for the ugly legacy of Watergate and all of the other underhanded and illegal tactics his minions such as Hardleman, Ehrlichman and Colson used under his direction.

But perhaps even more significant; Nixon contributed greatly to the current mess we now find ourselves in, by turning off millions of young Americans who might have gotten into public service. Much of the negativity and disinterest in American politics we see today in our society is the result of him setting the table for much of the nonsense that followed. A sad commentary on our society.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029870750479192711.post-16791122928686166302014-08-10T14:24:06.871-07:002014-08-10T14:24:06.871-07:00Two wrongs make a right in your book, 6:15?

Those who weren't pretending to love Bob Marley's Reggae Music as an excuse to "Liff the Spliff", often gravitated to The Grateful Dead, who turn Nonconformity into a tightly choreographed exercise in conformity, replete with it's own costumes, dialog, and dietary habits. Some of the recovering Grateful Dead stoners are the same ones who worked to popularize the Gluten Free Movement. Some people actually do need such a restricted diet, while for others, its another case of style ruling over substance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029870750479192711.post-44062646419337901252014-08-09T11:44:29.129-07:002014-08-09T11:44:29.129-07:00Take a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPm...Take a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPmfZHXaU7gCaptain Tripsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029870750479192711.post-33185700331274877422014-08-09T10:54:10.827-07:002014-08-09T10:54:10.827-07:00I miss Tricky Dick.
