Jim didn't race as much as Paul did, but both had acknowledged talent in competition machinery, and both loved racing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029870750479192711.post-15046967909646150242014-07-21T08:30:33.972-07:002014-07-21T08:30:33.972-07:00Was so sad to read this yesterday. So much great work from this man who so many people have good things to say about.

RIP, "Pete Aron", Godspeed, James Garner.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029870750479192711.post-77614343913474538252014-07-20T20:51:16.707-07:002014-07-20T20:51:16.707-07:00I use to see him on TV on the sidelines at the Oak...I use to see him on TV on the sidelines at the Oakland Raider's game...Godspeed James! Men like this aren't really around anymore. Not that he and The Duke or the Chairman of the Board were hanging out or anything, but from my Gen-X view, this is just one less man of that ilk around anymore and eventually it'll all be gone. I'm sure it was quite a shock to them all, to have your body begin the process of erosion without making adequate repairs. I'm dealing with a very minor touch of that now with flat foot problems. I miss taking my "Superwalks" at Tennesee Valley in Mill Valley area. I recall walking all the way down to the rushing waters. Until I get certain surgeries done via Veterans Hospital, I cannot do hikes of that nature. I'm convinced it will not always be this way. I believe that I was meant to go through this experience for a few years to learn more about compassion and how one can decide to be happy or thankful about something at any moment.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029870750479192711.post-76690707670915214132014-07-20T10:40:16.455-07:002014-07-20T10:40:16.455-07:00Was and still am a huge fan of James Garner's ...Was and still am a huge fan of James Garner's work and the Rockford Files specifically. Watched it as a kid and is my go to show to this day. Was so good that it was hard to differentiate the man from the character. Paradise Cove, Malibu. Coolest car, Pontiac Firebird. Great locations in LA, super cast and guest stars. Finest show on television. Had tickets to the Raiders games in the late '70s and as a teenager often saw him on the sidelines. Will miss you sir. I have the feeling it will be the same here. I'm not surprised to read he was a good friend of Paul Newman, both class acts, both good looking and both supporter of several good causes. Saw a picture of them (with Harry Belafonte and Marlon Brando) from the 1963 March on Washington. I loved Garner in "The Great Escape". I still miss Paul Newman, James Garner will be missed as well.
