BREAKING News: Ronn Owens/JBlack File BK; Daughter Laura Legal Drama Poi...

  1. At this point, given the number of legal issues and lawyers that Laura is dealing with it is virtually inconceivable that some of her parent’s money has not gone to support her “ventures.” In my mind it is irrelevant whether it was direct GFM funds or from some other source

  2. According to Google AI: “Yes, bankruptcy can offer relief from medical debt. Medical bills are generally considered unsecured debts, similar to credit card debt or personal loans, and can therefore be discharged (eliminated) in bankruptcy, whether you file under Chapter 7 or Chapter 13.” If Ronn had just done this bankruptcy filing a few months ago all the GoFundMe money raised for medical could have been returned. Glad he was able to pay off his medical bills though with the GoFundMe. No need to provide proof he did so; Rich can just get the verbal assurance from him and post a YouTube. He would not lie to Rich his mentee from days past. I am sure the medical providers now paid directly by Ronn are all happy he has such generous supporters.

  3. Jan’s pension info is in the filing and it’s barely 25% of what Ronn gets

    1. I remember said it should about the same. He obviously has no idea how it works. Ronn's years in industry and higher (much) are the reason for the difference.

    2. This is all quite sad. I remember, long before working at KGO, I was on a book tour and did both Ronn's and Jan's talk shows. Both of them were very talented interviewers, both better than anyone else in the country. I had done them at every major station in the country. They both asked questions that no one else had. i hope they are both proud of their radio accomplishments, at the very least. KCBS was a much less interesting station when they dropped that talk format.

  4. It is difficult to feel sorry for wealthy people who are big spenders and then are "broke".

  5. Can't get past the daughter smiling gleefully while Ronn, looking so unwell is being pushed behind her in a wheelchair.

    1. you can't discern if a smile is gleeful...I'm sure Ronn and Jan would want their daughter smiling, as opposed to frowning.

  6. Not sure if it is Rich’s urging but it looks like the Bay Area media is finally covering this story. Mercury News, Marin I-J and a paper in the East Bay have articles discussing this. Not sure where the Chronicle is.

  7. I just saw the article in the East Bay Times. I don’t understand any of this. It says they have only $150 in medical expenses a month and have over 21k in social security and pension checks each month. I make so much less than that and have much higher medical expenses. I feel deceived and upset that they presented the fundraiser as for Ronn’s health costs. Why won’t they say what they spent the fundraiser money on? There’s so much debt and they’re claiming to own almost nothing - I just don’t understand

    1. It's easy to understand. It's called Laura Michelle Owens. She has very expensive hobbies: suing men who won't date her, horses and Barry's Bootcamp. It's also called Jan Black. Jan's hobby is Laura.

  8. Multiple truths can exist at once, and that’s the case with Ronn:
    1. He does have serious medical ailments.
    2. We sincerely hope his condition improves, or at least remains well managed by his doctors.
    3. There’s something undeniably shady about the GoFundMe—its timing, his finances, and his daughter’s legal troubles.
    4. Many who worked closely with him do not have fond memories of him as a colleague.
    5. His reputation remains fractured—sympathy for his health struggles does not erase long-standing concerns about his behavior and choices.
    6. Despite all the noise, there’s still no transparency about where the gofundme money is actually going.

  9. The Merc laid everything on the table today on the bankruptcy nicely and GoFundMe. It was a bit suggestive and almost innuendo bordering on defamation. The Merc seems less gutless than Rich in giving the pertinent facts while walking the line of being neutral. Rich does not need to dabble in the Laura Owens cases like he said. But he is in the thick of this aspect. We need a new episode of Rich Lieberman After Dark tonight. He can update us on how the call back from Ronn is coming along as we all want to be assured from Ronn to him once again that all is Kosher with the GoFundMe.

  10. The Mercury News did a lengthy story on this with numbers, etc. Jan's pension is far less than Ron's because she worked far fewer years under SAG-AFTRA and didn't make nearly the amount of money he did. That is how SAG-AFTRA pensions are calculated as are Social Security payments. The amount they pay per month for health insurance appears accurate. If he needs an in-home caregiver that is expensive and may not be covered but Jan and Lara live with him.. The house is in Sara's name to.keep it away from creditors. They needed a lawyer for the bankruptcy and it is filed under penalty of perjury. How they ran up those huge credit card bills is a mystery.. The interest rate on those AmEx cards is outrageous. Why he ever moved to Scottsdale with the heat he hates and away from his medical care in SF is another mystery. They could have bought something in the Bay Area such as a condo and been close to UCSF or Stanford. Ronn, with his ego in tow, used to strut around getting free meals at places like the North Beach restaurant and House of Prime Rib. His producer(s) at KGO could be fired if his coffee was in the wrong place. And he used his buddies at the Chronicle to write flattering stories about him. I'll bet the "little" people in the Bay Area and Mickey Luckoff don't have much sympathy for him.

  11. Hopefully if Rich received any kickbacks from Ronn (not saying he did...but if so), the bankruptcy trustee with disgorge them (legal term to sue for the funds back),

    1. Don’t imply that Rich has accepted kickbacks. You know that’s complete BS. Rich has been above board and forthcoming about his past history with Ronn and his feelings on this case. You may disagree with Rich‘s coverage, but to even plant the thought that he may have received a kickback is very irresponsible

  12. Yes, further breaking news. Rich is still kissing Ronn and Jan’s ass.
