Spot on as usual on this topic, Rich. I e-mailed Catsimatidis in NYC suggesting he look at 560. Never heard back but he has stated publicly that he is looking for more radio properties.
I keep feeling as if I have climbed into an HG Wells " Time Machine" and habe arrived at the scene of some dystopian nightmare. Take a look around sometime;, ( if you get off your phone ) People are either driving around like morons or they're on the thrall of these tiny screens. Sad to say this but the new technology and social media have contributed big time to our downfall in the 21st century.
Few oldsters left in Bay Area will be dead before real radio returns. KMOX in St Louis is still going strong great programming. Bay Area not enough old White people left unlike the Midwest that still love the radio.
Enough. Sacramento has a top rated station that does true local newstalk, long news blocks and local talk, the Cumulus station in Fresno runs a local news and talk format. I am unaware of a LA station that runs anything like the old KGO. KFI canned their news department and really doesn't take calls. KABC runs Armstrong and Getty during morning drive, prime time in the LA market. You want outside money to save a format that maybe people don't want. Cumulus and iHeart run a format similar to the old KGO in Sacramento and Fresno but not LA or SF. Rather than asking someone on billionaire's row in Pacific Heights to be your savior, ask why should someone bring back something that apparently the Bay Area doesn't want.
