ONE in particular is TROUBLESOME to back-up Rosemary Orozco.
Orozco, who has been mysteriously snubbed from any serious consideration for the 10 PM News, permanent weather anchor gig, was the subject of an HR COMPLAINT by a fellow KTVU employee --the incident took place months ago, but it helps explain why she's been 86ed from any serious consideration for 10 O'Clock.
Orozco, in addition to her TV duties has a clothing line. One day, she brought a photographer from her clothing line, into the KTVU offices in Jack London Square. The photographer, who a contact refers as "creepy," had a confrontation with a female staffer (not on-air) at KTVU. It was heated, the contact told me. Heated enough that Orozco confronted the fellow KTVU worker ( a female) and both she and Orozco had it out, in so many words.
It was bad enough that the incident made its way to HR --Orozco, who has a reputation as being cold and impersonal around her colleagues--took a MAJOR HIT. It wasn't an end-all, but the incident didn't help her ambition to become the permanent 10 PM News weather anchor. Moreover, word of the confrontation at KTVU further alienated Orozco's relationship with fellow staffers. She is still considered as "mean-spirited" and standoffish. Which helps explain as to why she's been perennialy kept at the "MO2" (Mornings on Two) weekend gig, and only served as fill-in at 10 PM.
*SPEAKING of Bill Martin, the TALK behind the scenes at KTVU involved Martin's major "ass-kissing" to a station news exec, Simone Aponte. Martin, the story goes (and confirmed here) went OVERBOARD praising the assistant news director (called a "bitch" by several KTVU staffers, including women) Martin, who has wanted to retire for several months, has only remained at KTVU because FOx hasn't found (yet), his replacement.
Good god, Rosemary has lost her mind. Bringing a photographer for her clothing line into the building for what purpose? To photographer her at KTVU? Pretty sure that would be some sort of conflict of interest or HR violation to blur the lines and use the ktvu space to generate revenue for her clothing line. There are enough people out there who can stand in front of a green screen and do weather, and probably for a lot cheaper than whatever she's getting paid. The Firm needs to show her the door pronto.
ReplyDeleteIf KTVU granted her permission to use their facilities and/or brand for her commercial use then it would be ok, but I can't imagine that they would be ok with that. the fact the photographer got into a run in with a female employee suggest that he was likely doing something that the employee took issue with.
DeleteDidn’t know she also does clothing now. A quick look at her page and it looks like she has several photographers. Phillipe Lee, Studio Fab Photography, Austin Castro, Bradley Helms and Alan Filippi all do photography for her clothing brand. Is she that successful or that self-absorbed?

Delete4:58 pm: it’s upwards of 64,000 now, which is approaching the number of gaffes Frank Mallicoat makes each newscast. Take today for example, he referred to a biopic as a ‘bio-pick,’ the Castro District as the ‘Castrict Distro’ and Bob Melvin as ‘Bob Mel-vine.’ His only job is to sit there and read a teleprompter and he can’t even get through one read without botching it. He pauses mid sentence for no reason, puts the emphasis on the wrong words, and doesn’t stop at the end of a sentence but instead just runs right into the next one. For the love of god please give this man a pink slip.

ReplyDeleteI don’t get it. She brought in one of her photographers who creeped out a colleague. How is this Rose Mary’s fault? Ban the photographer from ktvu premises and problem solved. Sounds like a case of jealousy to me.
