In Between OJ and 'On Assignment' Thoughts

Related image TAKING YOU AWAY FROM OJ'S PAROLE HEARING...

*Several of you have written me asking me why the "obsession" (I've heard that word a lot) with the Giants' broadcasters "on-assignment" absurdity.

I'll explain again.

For some, it's no big deal. It's not to be taken seriously and it's sports for heaven's sake, why do I have a problem with this --The Giants' broadcasters can say whatever they want. I have issues with this bs because it's treating the audience with contempt. It's almost as if Miller and company are talking to children. They are not. They are major-market play-by-play broadcasters and they should act like such. I noted Bill King never would have uttered any "on assignment" bull, neither would have Lon Simmons or Vin Scully or Ernie Harwell, take your pick.

I don't mind humor every now and then. But there's a time and a place. I'm critical of what I consider broadcast hijinks --that's my opinion. I have a right to one--so do you. It's a great country isn't it?

See ya later.

  1. Rich, you are being an asshole over this subject you are obsessing over. Who gives a flying fuck except you?
Accept it as a schtick they do, nothing more, nothing less.

  2. Hey Rich, why is it every other day Michael Savage seems to be MIA, and what became of the assault he suffered a few months back??. This is local media news too..

I remember the time Krueger "called in sick", when in actuality, he spent 3 hours on the toilet, trying to squeeze out a 15-pound python. To Larry, he was "On Assignment."

How is this contempt? They say someone "is on assignment" when they are not present that day for whatever reason. Hard to imagine why anyone would be offended.

  5. Most Giants fans are zombies and while they are belittled, they don't seem to mind.

  6. I can't win today. Been listening to Los Angeles stations the last couple of weeks...not great, but more listenable than what goes on here. Had KABC on this morning...10:00 rolls around...filling in is ETHAN FUCKING BEARMAN.

  7. Giants had a great run. So happy never thought I'd see them win it all until 2010. Got very emotional watching that final pitch to win it.

That said, it's over. They have been terrible since the allstar break 2016. Mark my words, you will see wholesale changes soon. Many will be gone including management and Bochy will retire due to "health" issues.

    In other words, it's patronizing.

  9. Brucie was sitting on the actual throne for "Game of Thrones." You mean the Giants didn't get a sponsorship from Kohler?
