Bristow KCBS Stature Has Some Rank and File Peeved

AS JON BRISTOW'S STAR KEEPS RISING at

KCBS ...it appears some of the veteran staffers at the station are peeved at his growing stature.

Image result for jon bristow kcbsMore to the point, it appears two things are certain:

1. Jealousy exists at the all-news 740 AM and 106.9 FM outlet exists.

2. In bringing back a solid anchor, station bigwig and former KGO chief, Jack Swanson (where Bristow spent over two decades) appears to have his first challenge at hand: how to keep the natives happy and not show favoritism.

Only Swanson has and who could blame him.

We'll monitor the situation.

  1. Bristow has to "pay his dues" at KCBS.
His KGO card is no good here.

    1. See KCBS's big numbers in latest book..Jon Bristow does a great job and has forever. A "card" from the old KGO, when there was a "there" there is golden. Many of the folks at KCBS have also worked at the old KGO.

    2. What a totally douchey thing to say. "Pay his dues at KCBS." JB is better than everyone who's already "paid their dues" there. An intern in year one has to pay his dues. A seasoned broadcaster has already paid his dues. If you're so worried about JB stealing your spotlight, it's simple - be better.

  2. >> Bristow has to "pay his dues" at KCBS. Paying Dues. Is that how a non experienced person got the 9rs GM job?
How about the mayors of certain cities? What makes them qualified?

    1. One more note, I have known Bristow since the early 90's ... He has paid his dues at KGO. It does not matter whether Jon has been at 740 for a yr. Jon has the talent and the acumen. He desires the job of being a full-time staffer if the mgmt gives it to him. ... No controversy here. Nothing new here. Move Along.

  3. I'm surprised 'the little woman' aka Melanie Morgan has not found some way to get back on the local air yet. Maybe she really is good and done with the whole nasty mess called Terrestrial Radio.

    1. Too vile, snarky. Even when just reading a news script she has to use snarky intonations. Maybe Central Valley or KSFO but that's about it.

  4. If he has been in broadcasting for 20 years he has paid his dues plus you are going to hire someone to work for you that you feel comfortable with.

  5. Not show favoritism? Kinda late for that. How about some of those familiar KGO names now at KCBS?

    HERE??

Evidently, Rich is right. The rank and file are peeved.

Bristow has paid more than his "dues," in the MARKET. KCBS is lucky to have him.

  7. JB is a good man and a pro. They should be glad he's on their team.

  8. Another ex KGO news person, Scott Leteri, is now on KCBS.

  9. Pretty obvious whenever Stan Bunger's contract is up, Bristow is the replacement

  10. John Bristow is good at what he does.
Here's hoping he replaces Susan Leigh Taylor.
Taylor adds nothing to the morning news at KCBS.

  11. With Entercom on the horizon, everything is in play at CBS and KCBS. News is expensive...Entercom is cheap. Let's see who survives before we buy anyone a personal parking space Sign. Jon is very talented, he is the best thing they have got going over there. Bunger thinks he is Al Hart, trust me , HE's NOT. Susan Leigh Taylor was doing Love Songs after Dark on KIOI before she got this job. She is a newsreader not a Journalist. Sovern is a bloated ego, with NO VOICE for radio. Holley Quan is also lacking in the voice dept. Patty and the Pucker in the afternoon are cartoons. The Former KGO personnel like Bristow, Lane, Litteri, Keven the Rat are the best things on the station. But it really doesn't matter because when Entercom/CBS becomes the owners, Money will be the only deciding factor...The Same way it was at Cumulus.
