It's Been a Year Since KTVU Went to the Shitter with 'Talk Like a Pirate Day'; Anchor Roulette Pisses Off Staff; Monday Opener

Which is why I'm here.

KTVU a year ago, its pathetic anchors and reporters like the holy-grail asshole, Ross Palombo and the embarrassing, ridiculously annoying airhead, her co-pilot and her chief accomplice, mushy Mike Mibach and Dave Clarktook to the airwaves -- It was gruesome and disgusting all in one. It was supposed to be that happy time of the newscast when the housewives are watching and the morons at Channel 2, in line with Fox-themed "we must have our O and O's look like pathetic fools," displayed it visual excrement on live local television.

Today, (Monday) I have a feeling the mutants at Fox2 will once again embarrass themselves because they have no creativity in the bag and the easy thing to do is to present fertilizer wafers to eager viewers.

Mission accomplished.

KTVU, er, Fox2 has become a broadcast cesspool complete with foolish management direction; makeshift, artificial gimmicks designed to further dumb down a dwindling audience base; "content" more suited for the animal outhouse at a Ringling Bros circus; KTVU would do better if they made their newscasts available to the Sequoia elementary school 4th-grade class with Mrs. Matlock.

*As KTVU embarrasses itself on a daily basis, the latest from the INSIDE at the lunchroom: staff anchors are furious at the sudden management idea of shifting anchors into various timeslots.

You saw weeknight weatherman, Bill Martin, on weekend "MO2"; Julie Haener appearing on Sunday Night anchoring the 6 and 10 (although Haener asked mgt. for permission to switch)t was confusing to the viewer and it's now starting to piss off the worker bees.

Adding to all the mess, at KTVU, the rank and file and management continues their fire and ice relationship as layoffs loom and cutbacks in the news department linger --rancor and hostility permeate the building with enough grief and antagonism to fill the lunatic ward at Napa State Hospital.

Arr matey.

  1. Any TV station with different anchors during the PRIME TIME, the news is hard to trust. The station cannot even get permanent anchors, just want to save money and switch anchors back and forth. Just tune to the rival stations for stable anchors and the same old news.

For morning news, I'll stick it with KTVU, better than KRON watching a woman shouting, KPIX, bad match and KGO 7, no way. Never watch NBC 11, no comment on that.

  2. And KTVU was once the gold standard of newscasts in the BA.

    1. Think she has a FB, if anyone on FB could post something on her wall to talk like a human! I don't do FB.

  4. FOX likes to tinker...and tinker...and tinker. FOX didn't hire most those idiots. Now FOX is stuck with a bunch of stuffy and bitchy news-farts that can't seem to get the sticks out of their butts.

Now the fine FOX folks are reduced to throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks, but don't stink.
The FOX BrainRoom is working 24/7 on this. Please keep giving us your input because they actually listen and act on about 3% of it.

3% is pretty good seeing that FOX don't do consultants. Anyway just keep watching cuz it's not over by a longshot.

  5. What gets me is nothing was wrong with KTVU when Fox took over. They were No. 1 in the Bay Area, and while they weren't as good as in the Fred Zehnder days, they were still decent. Fox took something that worked fine and destroyed it, then patted themselves on the back for it or laid off people who had nothing to do with the mess. Typical "management."

  6. Perhaps one reason for rotating and switching anchors is that if you then fire/lay-off one or two it gets harder for the viewers to notice that someone is gone since they don't have any "regular" anchors. Yeah, they're crazy like a fox...

  7. I tune in to morning KTVU for weather and headlines then switch to cable news. Paulson still one of the best. There is nothing worth watching in the morning in the Bay Area. I miss the KTVU in-studio interviews after 7am. It's probably best they ended because no one on KTVU can interview worth sh*t. The decline started before Fox but Fox took a neat cleaver to what was left. Except for the weekday mornings I only watch KGO with a smattering of KRON.

    1. I would add that Bill Martin would be a good fit at KGO. Not young but cute enough and so knowledgeable.

  9. One of the problems Gasia, Dave and other anchors have is that they don't have command of the English language. Gasia has the vocabulary of a high school student. In all fairness maybe it's the writing staff with the problem..(None the less) she then doesn't have the ability to edit the copy. Oh well...

    1. Truth be told most of us broadcast writers have always been told to aim most of our writing at the 9th or 10th grade level of education.

    2. But it makes sense. It used to be people got a newspaper and watched local TV news, so it would make sense to lower the vocabulary on local TV news for people who got their news that way and didn't buy or get a paper.

    4. at 1:04pm... you have the capability of being better..I doubt the writers at the networks or cable (CNN) would feel the same..Key phrase is "you've been told" haha..come on..you are smarter than management..show your stuff.

    5. At 4:25pm.Where do I begin? your comment makes no sense..you must watch a lot of TV..esp. news. Newspaper writers are way better writers than TV newswriters.

  11. Talk like a Pirate Day: Most Annoying Holiday of the year!
The person speaking that way thinks they are so clever, and almost no one listening feels the same way.
