The Mysterious Allure of Heather Holmes; KTVU Anchor Mediocre Medley is Confusing

HEATHER HOLMES ...almost a year ago marked a line in the sand at KTVU. She wanted more time, more favorable time, more prime time and more money too.

We reported it here and you're seeing a hell of a lot more Heather Holmes on KTVU's various newscasts but I'm not sure why. I haven't the foggiest idea why she's considered such a hot commodity at Fox2 in Oakland.

Holmes is a fairly adequate news reader and possesses the natural personal benefits of a major-market female anchor. She's not that great, rather average, actually, and she can even be snotty.

She is clearly a part of KTVU's elite staff being that she's been used all over the time platform; morning, midday, evening and late night too. What KTVU sees in her frankly escapes me. Her on-air persona is that of someone who is just run-of-mill average at best and worst, a rank amateur who looks more suited for Des Moines rather than the Bay Area.

It's just a bit confusing.

I don't get all the fuss.

  1. If you didn't like her before- and you didn't- Then I guess with FOX taking over she's more valuable then anybody there and you must hate that.
I like her. She doesn't do annoying things. Doesn't try too hard to be funny or serious. Her interviews are respectable. She doesn't put out huge warm fuzzy's on the Awww stories of puppy's and kitten's,and never does a meltdown either..like KRONs sports nut when he doesn't get his way.
Is she Republican? yeah sure. What can you do?

  3. Have you noticed the changes at KRON's 10 O'Clock? They have Steve and Pam holding things up in the leads to illustrate what they're talking about, ie, a package about back to school shopping and they held up notebooks, pencils, papers, etc. I can't wait for. "Our top story tonight is in Oakland," and they hold up a corpse.

This must be a new mandate from the suits. Or they made Terisa Estacio the new News Director.

  5. Nothing mysterious about it. She's smoking hot. It's simple, really.

  6. I wonder what went through the minds of Channel 2 execs when Heather demanded more air time. I mean if they lost her to another station, it wouldn't matter. She's not going to have more of an impact (ratings) at KNTV, KPIX or KGO. Mediocre is the right word.

  7. I agree with Richard on this one. Heather Holmes is adequate but nothing extraordinary. For comparison's sake I find Sara Sidner much more compelling both on the field and at the desk. Why did ktvu let her get away still puzzles me. Heather has an appeal for the Blackhawk types.

    1. Perhaps Sara S just wanted to go someplace else and do real reporting? Covering the latest fender-bender on 880 or a garlic festival in Gilroy is boring to most people with an IQ higher than 90.

  8. I love Heather Holmes. She's the best thing going at KTVU. (No, I'm not Heather Holmes.)

  9. Heather is a straight dime piece. A little horsey in the jaw, but straight up doggie in the sack.

  10. She dresses horribly, and it seems like she wears three or four giant (school ring sized) rings per hand. Tonight on the 6 pm news she picked something out of her mouth on camera (she and Ken Wayne were caught by surprise) but at least she discarded the item discretely.

  11. It is reported she's got a flat ass and is high maintenance. A big no-no in the hood where I come from...only a Silicon Valley douche would fall for her. I do enjoy when she's paired with that queen Palombo. You could cut the thick cattiness with a knife

  12. To me, Norah O'Donnell, is the benchmark for smart, beautiful, and competent female anchors.
There is nobody in the Bay Area news of that caliber. KNTV has the best in the SF market, but Heather and Julie at KTVU are that station's best.

  13. The News without a beautiful woman reporting it, is not the News. A hamburger without fries, is not a hamburger.

  14. Like her and the early morning reader Gasia Mikaelian both good on the ears and eyes

  15. Guess I shouldn't be surprised how a woman in display is judged like meat. So classy, everyone (women included).
