  1. How is he a POS? He's businesslike and professional under pressure. This is how the real world works in television. Rich proves again he has no idea how the business that he blogs about really works.

  2. Maybe I'm missing something. Yeah, he seems kinda a*hole-ish at the beginning but after that, I don't see any bad behavior. And at the beginning, I don't know the context, were people f*cking up around him? Was he just in a bad mood, as anyone can be? Maybe he is a POS, but I don't think this video is quite proof of that.

  3. What is it that you find so offensive? How did you think it was done at the network level? It's a workplace, not a party.

    1. Sorry, Chris, Rich called it right AGAIN, unlike you, the be-all & know-all of everything in the world. David Muir IS a piece of shit (& a tard, in my opinion)! All you live for is the ass-monkey calls you get from KGO to substitute for someone & getting pocket change for it. If you're such a great lawyer, how do you have time for all this? Time for you to leave another present on Mr. Bouley's driveway.

    2. Christine Craft? Meh, but I disagree with your comment. It smells as an opportunity to dump on Craft. Be fair or go home. No points to you.

  4. Seemed professional to me. Trying to get it right in minimum off air time. What am I missing?

  5. Yeah, what a POS schmuck. Saying "please" and "thank you" to his crew. Makes you wonder if he was raised by a pack of hyenas or something....

  6. Seems rude but nice to see someone who takes his job seriously.
All those takes were from the same shoot so perhaps he was having a bad day or his producers weren't on point and he was annoyed.

  7. Contrast that with the one where Bill O'Reilly flips out and Muir comes off as a consummate pro.

  8. I've seen much bigger fits by bigger P'sOS, wish I had rolled on more reporter freak outs. It didn't seem as if Muir was being that much of a DBag.

  9. A lot of TV people are like this in the Bay Area too but not as prima donna as this douchebag. Peter Jennings is sorely missed.

  10. What's the deal with this? I didn't see anything untoward here. It looked like a guy just doing his job. He appeared to be under some kind of unusual time pressure where they may have been improvising, but he handled it well, as did his staff.

  11. If I have to criticize David Muir for anything it's his use of 1970's Van Amburg lines..."this just in", We're learning tonight" all those action verbs etc to create a sense of immediacy. What youy were watching was a network anchor working without a script in hand...only what he could see on a in-field monitor...likely a laptop computer or ipad. Working in the field...with a group of 20 somethings back in the control room isn't malwasys the easiest thing...even Peter Jennings learned this.

    1. Do you think David Muir even knows who Van Amburg is? (or was?)

  12. Yeah, this clip is harmless. There's nothing in there support the idea that he's a shmuck or a POS. There's not diva material. There's no Bill O'Reilly/Inside Edition meltdown scene. This is just typical for what you get on the road (and typical for what you get on the set when not on the air). Muir is a-okay here.

  13. I do not understand why you are criticizing Muir for what is on this video. Looks like he is trying to put a descent newscast on the air.

  14. the news would be much more interesting in 'off air' mode

  15. Add me to the list of those who see nothing POSish about how he behaved. It was professional, and polite with a little voicing of frustration.

Rich, you must not have seen many temperamental Gods/Goddesses in action.

  16. I don't see him doing anything that any boss wouldn't be doing if things are messed up -- I've had to listen to much worse in an ordinary office setting. Sometimes it's no ones fault -- but we underlings usually get the blame -- that's just the way it is in the workplace.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, that's not POS behavior. I wouldn't mind working with him because, believe me, I've seen worse! I mean, wow, please and thank you? I expected him to have an O'Reilly-style "We'll do it live!" meltdown.

  18. Seems like a decent guy to me. But agree with 12:10pm about O-Reilly. He loses it in that Inside Edition clip years ago. "Fuck it, we'll do it live!!" He's one of the few talking heads on cable who doesn't do a live show. Lots of editing to make it look so good and smooth.

  19. This guy is just doing his job with the sun in his eyes. What's to criticize?
All Lieberman does is ridicule others.

  20. there was absolutely nothing wrong with anything he did. completely professional. even if he did seem somewhat testy at first, maybe there were other things outside of this 3 minute piece which went on prior that bothered him. if this is as bad as it gets for David Muir I'm guessing you have no idea what it's like to work with a real problem talent.

  21. Wow... a TOTAL POS, huh? Maybe a little smug, but a POS? Come on Rich....

    ReplyDelete
  22. I guess I missed the POS part too.

  23. OK, so he sounded a little bit dickish when he said he wanted one thing, and then wanted another thing, but if I understand the context correctly, he was doing this under the gun of a live broadcast, and his producer seemed to be taking shots at him. To me, it actually seemed like he was doing his utmost to control the tension and get what he needed.

I kept waiting to see what turned him into a POS, and never saw it. Frankly, I was actually impressed.

  24. Another vote for this guy. Seemed polished and professional. The only POS is the person trying to defame him.

  25. If Muir, who comes off as professional and courteous, even saying "please" and "thank you", is "kind of a POS" as you say, what does that make you, Rich?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wow, I was expecting a bunch of expletives and such. I don't see anything wrong with this. Television is such a fast-paced business, and a daily network television news program has to be absolutely perfect. Producers, directors, writers, production assistants, etc., have to stay two steps ahead of the the actual on-air delivery. If they don't have the deliverables for David, and on time, then the show is screwed. So I think he handled himself quite well -- especially since you can tell it was done in a hot and humid climate as well.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I see nothing wrong with way Muir handled himself. Anyone under pressure is going to be short. Nothing out the ordinary.

    ReplyDelete
  28. If you think this makes him a POS, you need to spend more time around anchors/reporters and in newsrooms. Any anchor/reporter will act like this if they don't have their scripts. Not all anchors are good at "ad libs", as often pointed-out on this page and they are the people that look stupid if they come on the air without anything to say.

  29. Anybody who ever worked with Pete Giddings would find Muir a piece of cake. At least Muir is not known for throwing tantrums when someone else in the building or location was wearing a polka dot tie.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sorry, but no POS here. If he was The Wonder Bra bitch on KRON4, it would've been different. She would've been a real beeatch. But this guy, no POS. Under the gun, on deadline, focused.

    ReplyDelete
  31. He is way better any of the local stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  32. the real POS in this story is the technical "professional" that posted this online. Most of us understand we have a responsibility to protect the talent and would never post behind the scenes video.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The video was taken down. Can someone tell me what he did/said?
